  1. Welcome back to the hobby. Its looking good and your choosing Vallejo is a good thing. Im guessing this is a Hobby Lobby purchase. I have seen Vallejo and this kit there. On fact I have this kit about 1/2 done in my first attempt at hairspray chipping. I think I went overboard but I may have to dig it out after seeing this thread. Of you have qiestions I am sure we have answers
  2. Very nice build. It looks a little used.
  3. I purchased this kit along with a CR450 at a yard sale back in I believe 05 ish. I was living in Baltimore at the time and Mums and I scoured yard sales for eBay fodder to supplement our hobbies. Her was glassware and furniture and mine was comics/magazines and toys/models. We made some incredible buys in those years as resellers were only just starting and we were way ahead of the curve. This kit was started but it was simple engine assembly and nothing more. I worked on it at some point and put it away for some rainy day. So after Rodfather I need something to cleanse the pallet. And nothing does that quite like a Tamiya kit. I am breaking in my new selection of Tamiya lacquer paints and I must say they may be the finest paints I have ever used. Mr Hobby leveling thinner is a perfect match as these dey quickly and lay down so smoothly. I plan on picking up many more soon as they are simply so superior to anything else I see no reason to not have the line and even double up on a few to have reserves. The decals for this are so highly suspect I purchased some replacements. The gauges have already given me heck so I suspect the larger ones are simply going split and cause me to get aggravated. Anyway, here is where I am. While I wait for the decals to arrive I thought the rider should get puttied and readied. I may just end up finishing it and putting the result under glass. It all depends on my aggro factor.
  4. A serious bit of business is this. I finally got my panhead a few months back and upon opening it I nearly fell out. Yes, it was a very large sum of money. But these are without doubt the finest kits of any subject ever made. I will be following your build as I pluck up the nerve to possibly start mine this spring. I suspect it will take the better part of the year if not more to see it finished. I have no doubt this will also take quite a while.
  5. Great color choice. The flag mirrors in white makes them stand out. Well done.
  6. Spyder and Fly's and a slant in pink.... Over the top coolness.
  7. All are dressed to the 9's. Very nice indeed Sir.
  8. Well done all. The Nova is very nice, the wheels are something Ive not seen before.
  9. I am still mulling over getting this series. When I see fantastic builds like these the decision gets a little easier.
  10. These are fantastic. You certainly have a flair for this type of kit. Both are some of the best representations of the kit I have ever seen.
  11. That is indeed good to know. I have not truly actively looked for a BB. There was a complete on eBay for 400.00 which was more than I was willing to pay. Eventually I will pony up for what I need to get one done.
  12. What a beauitiful collection. I would certainly be proud.
  13. Now that is a class anyone can be proud of. You have my TOP grail ( Bug Bomb, my first ever model) , and Li'l Herbie of which I never new even existed. The Ranchero is a stunner and the vintage Zingers are a perfect nightcap. What a year you had brother Bob.
  14. All of em are beautiful, but that duece at the top is superb
  15. I am sure Nader would find something wrong with it. I however, cannot. Great conversion
  16. Why couldnt have been someone we had no use for? Gymkhana and all his vids are some of the most entertaining to ever be put out. Pure talent.
  17. Superb build and your collection looks a lot like my own.
  18. Both are exceptional and congrats on your feature.
  19. So it's like that eh? What an exceptional build. Underneath passes for 1:1 easily. You know your subject and it shows.
  20. 16 eh? Amazing when I think about where I was skills wise. You are far ahead of where I was. Of course that was 1979.
  21. Outstanding group. You seem to have picked the right color for every build without fail.
  22. Nice assortment, like a box of chocolates. No scale snobbery here folks.
  23. Go for it my friend and build another. It has been said building a kit a second or even third time is when you really get the result you always wanted. I will say this. The windshield tested my patience. You get a slab of acetate and an incorrect size guide on the instruction manual. Drilling a hole in the windshield I just cut for the rear view mirror was a trip and a first for me. And I still have to either paint the Ford script on the bed or find a decal. My decal stash has let me down.
  24. I just finished up a grail of mine in this "The Rodfather". I remember this kit on the hobby shelves when I was a kid and liked the look of it. Decades later I saw a picture of the box and remembered it from my youth. I want to thank Bob (TooOld) for the mint original decal sheet. I sprayed it with a couple of coats of the now discontinued Testors decal spray and it spent a couple of days in the sun. Main kit is a Revell Tweedy Pie II. Testors Arctic blue metallic enamel on the shell and Duplicolor semi white on the rest. Parts box Firestone rear tires and the fronts and rims from the Revell 66 Chevelle. Aluminum intake tubes and lavender plug wires. A little flocking and Voila! Thanks to Bob for helping me make a grail for my shelf. Now if I can just find some room...
