  1. These kits could not be more diametrically opposed. The vintage Monogram 308 GTB has about 50 parts if its lucky. The Revell 612 Scaglietti is probably over 100. I got these at a yard sale perhaps 2-3 years ago. The Monogram kit was open and it was only missing the mirror. It has no engine and the decal sheet consisted of the plate and Ferrari crest for the nose and fenders. Paint is non factory dark blue with dark brown leather interior. The Scaglietti kit was sealed and could not be more different. Full engine and suspension detail. Fairly large decal sheet with carbon fiber and under hood as well as Instruments and badging. Quite a contrast in approaches. Monogram kits of the era were designed to be completed by a below average to average modeler, while the Revell has the more advanced in mind. Both are 1/24 scale and take their place in my ever growing stable of prancing horse builds. Upon looking at my photos I see I have to dig out some of the polishing compound on the 612.
  2. Another superb build. The skill level around here keeps rising.
  3. OK that is just stunning...
  4. Psychotic! In a good way.
  5. Geez, how badass does it need to be? Killer
  6. Love that color. Well done..
  7. My Uncle Steve raced a gold 64 at Epping NH in the mid 60s. I have a love of all things Chevelle. The addition of the LsX is superb. Beautiful build.
  8. Recent reissue kit that has a really sweet decal sheet. I added a parts box supercharger and Weiand air filters. Parts box master cylinder, wheels from the Landy Charger and parts box tires. Interior has a PE steering wheel and scratch built roll bar and a few other pieces like window cranks and arm rests. Kit supplied graphics and a few PE scripts finish it off. My favorite year of Chevelle. And yes, I managed to get the key and fob into the ignition. Hard to see but it is there. Even the fob is orange.
  9. The range of Star Trek stuff is so crazy. If you build that stuff you are in heaven these days I like it...
  10. Built so long ago I had to look it up to make sure I got the name right. Typical Tamiya 1/12 scale motorcycle. They are so good at these that nearly no one challenges them. Oh sure, Protar many years ago, and Fujimi and Aoshima do take a shot at em now and again. But Tamiya is the king of 1/12 scale motorcycle kits.
  11. Thanks brother I missed the place. I see there are quite a few no longer posting. I've been here quite a long time and people come and go. Even I did. I would look in now and again not signed in. But it was time to return. Is been busy while I was gone as you can see. Thanks for the compliment I have lots more but I don't want to overwhelm the thread. A little here and there. Moderation. Thanks for the welcome back
  12. Right outta the show. Great stuff.
  13. No choppy da Jo-Han!
  14. Beautiful! I have one of these and it needs to be built. Of course I'll open the box.... Put it on the shelf and forget it for a while. Until someone posts another beauty like this.
  15. Wrong place or not, they are superb. Perhaps some more detailed pictures.
  16. This will sound like a brag. Maybe a little. I stopped being a comic book dealer in 95. My partner and I split up our inventory. He opened a shop (still operating) , and I went to eBay. I sold about 280,000 dollars of what I had between 1997 and 2009. In that time I had nearly NO bad sales or returns. I had great feedback. When I put an item up it often got bids right away. I know the business inside and out. I know what's hot and all that. After 30 years of doing it I was on point. When the Buy It Now BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH started I knew the end was near. Even the going public really didn't have an effect. Right away. Then the bottom dropped out. Fees skyrocketed. They dropped PayPal as a first source of payment. They initiated their own payment back end. The drop shippers came aboard and I could feel it all slipping away. The tax thing came into being and I left. I became a buyer only and have loved happily (mostly) ever after. eBay was the golden goose. Then they slayed it right in front of me.
  17. I need pics. My neighbor has one and it's one nasty SOB.
  18. Now that I think of it, I was looking for a big block Ford to go into this. As usual it's a Chevy. At least it's a big block. In real life I wouldn't think that radiator would be up to it though. Thanks for the attaboys guys.
  19. I adore Bruce as well. I saw Jaws in the theaters all those decades ago. It put me on the path to learning everything there was to know about sharks. White sharks in particular. Over the years we have learned much. Despite what shark week and various other sensationalized programming have shown, we do know a great deal about these creatures. Its always the same line. "The Great White is an enigma among the oceans dwellers". "We know very little about this animal and it's life". Which is all rubbish. We know more about White sharks than many other species in the oceans. I live near the Cape here in Massachusetts. I have been to the White Shark Conservancy twice. Met Dr Skomal and some of the students who go there. I have been on a White Shark sightseeing tour. Saw a couple and one was truly huge. The Grey Seal population growth and their subsequent protection rang the dinner bell for adult sharks to make the trek up the coast where they feed all summer. The beaches here are now almost unswimmable. The sharks are here and more come every year. But the tourism for seeing them has also grown significantly. Ultimately it has been great for the sharks. And the conservation efforts in place may one day see them taken off the endangered list.
  20. This is Bruce. He is a figure from the Finding Nemo movie. Named for the shark in Jaws, he is a recovering killer trying to change his life around. I found him at my local convenience store along with Rozz from Monsters Inc. I am currently repainting her but that's for another day. So Bruce was in a blister pack and was light blue. That is screen accurate but not where I wanted to go. I wanted nature accurate. So some acrylic paints and a few sessions later and here we have a nature accurate Bruce.
  21. With the weather being nice, people are taking out their classics lately. And sure enough, yesterday a super clean black widow Monza drove past me. Those bronze wheels work perfect with that emerald, and it sits like a warrior. Super nice dude.
  22. Off the Chain build Bob. Everything is just perfect. It never occured to me to use the Multi Mav in that way. Now it seems like the only way to use it
  23. Geez Looweez but that is a Monsta... Glad it's on the outside.
  24. Not my usual cup of Jack Daniels, but something about that box art said "Build me!" Testors metallic turquoise and the old Pro Street nova decal for the side. I also scratch built the supercharger pulley's and belt. Matching scoop and we got something. Red headers seemed the way to go and I'll wire it up a little and it should look nice next to the Foose Ford. I'll get back to this soon.
