It's a cool build I just feel like it needs some graphics or something. Make it look official as it were.

I don't want it to seem like I'm flooding the site with built kits but the truth is I was away for quite a spell. During that time I stayed busy with mini painting and the odd personal project. So in a way I am flooding the catagory with builds but it's just that I enjoy them. That is what this place is for and in my now 14 years of membership (Has it been that long?), I have gotten a lot out of this place. I've made friends and while I lived in Baltimore was a member of MAMA and enjoyed that club. It's ranks are full of some of the finest sort and were always welcoming and helpful. So it comes to this one. I built this when it was released some years ago and it too hangs in the living room with Mars Attacks but on the other speaker across the room. All acrylics used and the "Zap Action" still works fine but the elastic invariably broke. But when it does work that sonovagun comes flying out and up and really slams that dagger into the map. 70s engineering at its finest.

Really nice build. This has a Wood Bros vibe. Did he drive for them? Ill admit my knowledge is lacking.

It's the old Revell kit reissue by Atlantis. They molded it in some almost see through white plastic. Really hard to get a bead on parting lines and where to putty before primer. I like to do as much clean up as I can before laying down any primer. The color of the plastic made it that much more difficult. But the molds seem to be in good shape as flash was almost nonexistent and everything lined up as well as I could have hoped for. I have never built this kit before but I can say it has been fun.

Mars Attacks!
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
That seems like more work than my talents ( such as they are) could handle Greg. But I will take it under advisement. TonyK, this is a Moebius kit. Should be on eBay for about $25.00 or so. -
Nostalgia Fuel Dragster--Blower Manifold (01/28/23)
Dragline replied to Straightliner59's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
You are dead on about the sizing thing. My first attempts were always too large. As you said, I made one, then made it smaller. I use DM fittings since they are absulutely the best and can be made into any combo but they are tiny. So I use their size as a baseline for the valve. And it was instantly better. And the resin fittings from Top Studio are also nice have you seen those? I have more examples and better ones but they are currently packed away. But this Ivo car is an earlier one, and the Polar Lights one is as basic as one can be. But I press on. -

I never had the pleasure of meeting Don bit I admired his work over the years. I remember seeing his work in the MSC ads and in SAE in the 80s when he was building Revell top fuel stuff and that was the first time I had ever seen scratchbuilt hat and port injection. He showed me what was possible and raised the bar as far as detailing was concerned. As to that K valve. I make my own but that tan one looks like resin to me. Are they available this way or is it a copy of one of your own? I need to start casting because when I make them I am inconsistent. Ive made some really good ones, then made a really goobered up one. And the time spent is not a small thing. I have pics of my own somewhere that I'll have to dig up and show you. -
I built this a couple of years ago now. It sits on one of my speakers in the living room and has been there almost since the day I finished it. Visitors gravitate towards it once they spot it, and it always strikes up conversation about the movie. All acrylic paints here with the exception of the light globe. I do believe that is Duplicolor primer. I rusted up the storm drain pretty good and made our victim pretty bloody. It's a fairly gruesome scene for a model kit of I do say so. Some day I may light that globe. The post is an aluminum tube and the globe is hollow so it's clearly made for it. Mars Attacks!

Conduit Reel Flatbed
Dragline replied to pcm1977's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That is some kinda odyssey you went through for that conduit load to become a reality. I applaud efforts like this, and although I don't build this type of model ( I do have a LaFrance pumper I may break out this winter), I can certainly take a moment to write a few words when I see all out focus. Well done Sir...- 15 replies

It is high time I got in on this Salvinos thing. I just looked at their offerings and these new cars look fantastic. Fair to say that Salvinos has arrived as a kit maker.

I didnt read the article but am I to understand that the up top material is a ladies stocking? Brilliant! And your execution is what sells it. And it is in scale to my eyes. The rest is equally as nice. Just all around greatness here. Well done Sir.... -
That is just killer. And you took a car that could have become a parts bin and made it into a sweet car for the shelf. Well done.

Thanks for letting me in on why. My reasom is similar. I didnt feel I was ready for such a momentous task. Your answeisis just the fodder I need to crack open a box or two and revisit my old nemesis. Thanks for taking a moment to answer my rather pointed question. It makes posting here worthwhile. -

Great rusting here. Did you use the Vallejo kit or cobble together your own paints and powders? -

Great color choice on this one. Orange is a color I plan on painting more. Sits just right in the pumpkin patch.
