Good lookin Falcon there.

Thanks Lloyd. I'm not certain I'll be transitioning, but i am getting a real taste for what it takes to pull off a decent armor build. I ordered a couple of Dragon kits for myself that I will build during the winter months. I also got the PE kits for them so I can really go to town detail wise. I also ordered some MIG items like chipping fluids and various other paints. I have oil paint for washes, so this winter will find me busy making a vignette for this build and starting on the others. It's strange how you basically build the kit before any paint goes anywhere near plastic. Seemed counter intuitive but I will get used to that also. My airbrush is going to get some kind of workout.

The blackening of the tip is just brilliant. I tried it and am never looking back. I use scalpels but Excel #11 blades work for me.

Just keep doing it Harry. Almost losing my dad to similar afflictions [He's 73] and seeing him come back and then home gives me, You and all of us great hope. This fight is one that can be won. We will eventually all look back at this as the time we all wished Harry back and he showed up smiling and giving us a little taste of what large scale models can look like with skills and talent. The bench awaits you brother.

The scale fidelity is just fantastic. I am a fan bro.

Oh Harry.... Just keep doing your best. We all love you here. -
I honestly don't remember ever building a tank model in my life. I remember getting one as a very young boy and what happened is anyone's guess. But they fascinate me. More to the point is the people who build them. I've met a great many who enjoy my shiny paint jobs but when asked if they would ever model of say their own car, the answer seemed to be always 'Are you kidding?" I didn't ask to take out their 17 year old daughter mind you. Just if they would build something shiny. I truly enjoy well built Military. I've been to my share of IPMS shows and that type tends to dominate the show and vendors area. So when I was at Hobby Lobby picking up paint 2 weeks ago I stumbled upon this kit. At 11.00 [w/coupon] it was a no brainer. I have a selection of Vallejo paints that would enable me to try it out. I bought a can of Testors green Military enamel for the project and went back to work. When I got home I pried it open and just dug in straight away. I just finished a MAJOR customer project and had a 10 day window, so I set out to see what i could do. I watched a TON of YouTube vids. There are so many out there for just a single kit that i was amazed. I did only cursory recon on the actual vehicle and went to work. Will this turn me into a Military modeler? I have my doubts but I have had the most fun building for myself than i have in years. And THAT is what building models is all about. Thanks for looking..... EDIT... OOOPS I have to make antennae that broke. I also need to finish the crew and maybe make a vignette. But that's for another time.

A welcomed reissue with nice additional touches. That new hat looks correct. Thanks Tim -
ACRYLIC from now on

I too have largely gone over to Acrylic. My brands of choice are Tamiya and Vallejo. While Vallejo seems to be more aimed at the Armor segment, their truly Monstrous line makes it easy to find many colors we as automotive types can use. Their Military stuff is the best aside from Mig. If you want to chip, rust or make something old there are no better systems out there. Making things shiny is easier than making them look worn in my experience. -
What a simply gorgeous car that is. AMC was at the top of its game at that place in time. It becomes hard to reckon such a fall from grace when they had cars of this caliber in the design studios and then reality. They took such chances and pulled off quite a few great ideas, then plunk down weirdos like the Pacer and Gremlin. Those cars have a place in my heart but they are not Pebble Beach winners. So it begs the question. How can such great ideas such as this come out of a house that would fall within [or thereabouts] a decade? My Grandmothers 1969 Javelin was a stunning car. I went to see Jaws in it in 1975. I recall other rides in it and people would look at the car and smile. It really was that nice. I know the history is out there but I just cannot fathom how it goes wrong once you see this and other cars from them. Blows my mind.

Gorgeous car.

New to the model scene? You could have fooled me. Very nice for a beginner for certain.

OK that's just WICKED! Great concept and good use of that drag chassis. I'm thinking Tom Daniel would just go GaGa for it.

Purdy lookin party barge there.

Now THOSE are some convincing spokes right there. I'll bet you can make that contraption in 1/24th or 25th and go to town making dragster wheels. Let's face it, kit spokes are lousy and this is the cat's pajamas all day.

I am goofy and we cut up all day long at my store. We love it and there is no other way I'd rather be.

Had another nice trade. This time with RT6PK. Good stuff.
