True about the 1:1 '64 Tempest, but I believe the AMT annual was a Le Mans, not a Tempest. At least the ones I have are Le Mans.

https://www.heller.fr/en/vehicles/609-massey-ferguson-2680-3279510807455.html?search_query=massey&results=2 It's in stock at Heller's website, and they do ship to the US, for a cost. I'm not aware of any US online vendor of Heller products, I do know some of the Japanese vendors like Hobby Link Japan stock Heller kits, though this one isn't in stock yet at HLJ.

IIRC also, wasn't that '80-82 style Thunderbird a later addition to the Monogram line...I don't think it was originally out in the early 80s w/ the Regal, Monte Carlo and Grand Prix.. -
2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)
Rob Hall replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Modern full size trucks, even 2wd ones, seem to sit awfully high in the back, as far as the height of the bed floor relative to the ground. I recall loading and unloading a rental F150 a few years ago, had to use a ramp..the old F series I've been around in the past (70s and 80s models) seemed lower to the ground...of course, those had small tires by comparison. -
Haven't seen it. May check it out..looks like it has the guy from that show.

The high belt line and small side windows is all about improving side impact test results. It's interesting, if I compare the belt line and side window of my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs. my '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the newer one has much smaller side windows and a higher belt line, thicker A-pillars, etc.

Interesting...looks like the seller auctioned the Regal donk prototype from the same time also. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-80s-Buick-Regal-Donk-1-25-plastic-finished-model-/302798995502

The GMC front is less busy than the Chevy... still overwrought. but I still think the Ram is the best looking of the 2019 pickups. -

Googled it...it was called the Ford Shelby GR1. http://blog.driveaway2day.com/2013/07/ford-shelby-gr1-concept-concept-cars.html

That was a Ford concept from about 15 years ago...there was a Hot Wheels of it IIRC.. kind of a modern Shelby Daytona coupe idea.

Maybe it's the old tooling Revell had acquired from Aurora and Renwal in the past. That tooling was in the US, wasn't it? -
1/25 AMT 1973 Chevy Custom Van - Dirty Donny VANTASY
Rob Hall replied to disabled modeler's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Interesting all the little variations...on the 1:1, that rib on the lower-mid body side was added around 76-77, and it seems like they extended it onto the front doors around 1985-6... one thing AMT never updated was the dashboard, IIRC the A-Team van kit (which was in 1:1 around an 83-84?) still has the '72 Chevy dash... -
Yeah, when I was young in the 80s-90s I remember my 87 Mustang GT being a fast car.. today's GT has more than twice the horsepower and an extra gear, way faster and better gas mileage (and has cupholders!). Performance has improved quite a bit since the 80s. In a few years, I'll get another fun car, maybe a modern Mustang GT or Challenger SRT..the Camaro really doesn't appeal to me. Or comparing daily drivers... my '14 Jeep now is way nicer than my '00 Jeep was, has 100 hp more, 4 more gears, and gets better gas mileage. And the '00 Jeep was way nicer than the '88 Bronco II that I had in the 90s. Evolution is good is vehicles.

I have the old Kandy Van, a couple A-Team vans, the Dirty Donny Vantasy issue, and the Fire Rescue reissue. But of course, they are not all in the same place... -

Makes me wonder if the GMC A-Team body was a separate tool... -
He was my senator when I lived in Arizona, and though I'm not of his political party, I thought he was certainly a patriot above partisan. RIP, he gave a lot for this country.

I was a teenager and learned to drive in the mid 80s, so that is the era of my youth... I do like the squared off styling of the 80s in general more than a lot of the overly rounded and bland designs of today. But I do avoid rose colored glasses-- I realize today's cars are much better built, safer, more reliable, and can go well behind 100k miles. Horsepower is way up from the 80s, and cars and SUVs today are way smoother and more comfortable, IMO. And the cupholders and infotainment systems are much better today. I do miss the variety of body styles that used to be on the market, esp. all the coupes.

Didn't the first issue or two have an opening hood and side windows w/ inserts for the solid sides (the Open Road version had windows). I think the Kandy-Van, Nirvana, Xtasy, Sun Chaser, Foxy Box and Kiss van came later than the Open Road, Police, Rescue and other early versions...those customs are in the AMT catalog in '79, and I built the Kandy-Van as a kid in 78 or 79... -
The one in the third photo down appears to have doors cut down from some sort of semi truck cab. To get the cab that low, it looks like it is straddling the frame, and the driver is sitting down along side the frame..

Revell web site back on
Rob Hall replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No surprise, that's what I and others said in earlier posts. It redirects to the German site. (the .de top level domain is the country code for Germany).
