My old Grand Cherokee had ghosts in the electronics sometimes. I used to use the automatic setting for the headlights. But then I'd be at home at night in Phoenix and see lights on in my carport through the kitchen window. The headlights had inexplicably come on..engine off, key out of it. Didn't use the automatic light setting after that.

Well, that is what the shop said. It was a 600 CCA battery--less than a year old. AAA guy that jumped said it was only putting out 89 amps and there was an 'open diode'--something draining it. I took it to the shop, they determined the alternator was failing. Replaced it, didn't have a problem w/ the battery after that.

I've had that happen w/ two cars. On one, the under hood light was stuck on (I noticed the glow under the car one night)--fixed that by removing the bulb; the other car it was a failing alternator.

In a storm now and the power went off maybe 20 min ago. Not fun.

Anyone want an Indian Jeep?
Rob Hall replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Even it were street legal, the Roxtor is way too basic for me in 2018. I'm happy w/ my Grand Cherokee w/ the 3.6, but I do like the new Wrangler a lot also. -
Funding for animal rescues would be high on my list. There are several I help every month with donations that I'd like to give much more to.

I'd retire and build some models. And get a bigger garage for a few more 1:1s.

Always wanted one of these a project car, preferably a brown one.. Not enough garage space.

Has anyone ever see these kits?
Rob Hall replied to NYLIBUD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Old MPC snap kits from around '79-80. -
Of course, I can also always check the scheduled month on my release spreadsheet (I maintain a spreadsheet of new releases I'm interested in and enter the date and source from which I pre-order them) or on other vendor sites like Hobby Search.
-
Yeah, overall I like the new site, but I don't like how the Private Warehouse and Open Orders all seem to run together and how you can't see the release month of items in the Open Orders view. I've found I have to search on the individual item to see it's release month. The old site was more convenient to see a list of Open Orders (pre-orders) and their project release months.
-
Bummer... speaking of HLJ and preorders, it will be interesting to see what kits meet their scheduled release month and what ones don't ...I have 20 pre-orders w/ HLJ through the end of the year, and several are Aug or Sept items that slipped...
-
I preordered one in May...my oldest HLJ preorder is the Revell Ford GTLM..from last December.
-
Saw that, my guess is they had a lot of people asking if the first two sets were pre-painted, since they only showed pictures of box art with finished items, and no pics of parts on trees or unassembled, unpainted parts.

Looks like garage accessories set 3 will be coming in 2019 and includes a lift. http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/4662-amt-model-kits-garage-accessory-series-set-3/

The straight 6 is back
Rob Hall replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As far as the short lifespan of the GM Atlas 6, I assume it’s because of the demise of the Trailblazer and it’s GMT360 siblings. The related Atlas 4 carried on a while longer in the Colorado and Canyon. The Atlas 5 was short-lived also. The inline 6 presumably was too long to fit in GM’s transverse engine FWD/AWD cars and CUVs, where V6s fit better. I assume they never offered it in the full size pickups since they already had a V6 available in them. -

Rob Hall replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Jeep 4.0 6 was an AMC design evolved from an engine dating to 1964 is my understanding. No GM connection that I know of. My ‘00 GC had the 4.0, was a good engine. There was a 4.2l version in earlier Jeeps and and other AMC products. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_straight-6_engine#4.0 Now there were GM 4s and V6s in some Jeeps in the past, but no GM inline 6 that I’m aware of. -

Reissue of a kit from around 1980. Reissue is due out in November-December. -
He had a recurrence of the cancer he had in 2009. Same sort of cancer my Dad died from in 1999, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Nasty stuff. I've long been a fan of Allen, from the Microsoft days to his recent deep sea exploration projects that turned up some WW II ships incl. the USS Indianapolis.
