  1. Yes, Colorado does the same thing. Here in AZ my 2000 was about $120 for two years but my 2011 was about $650 for the first year, less the 2nd year...
  2. Yes, population density...similar situation in AZ...outside of the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas, the rest of state is rural empty w/ a few small towns..
  3. The period styling of the custom parts just doesn't jell well with the modern lines of the donor. I don't get why people do this kind of thing, but whatever floats yer boat. I've seen a number of the C5-based Corvette conversions that use '50s and '60s front and rear Corvette styling and they just don't look right...something always looks odd about them. One truck based one I saw a while back was an S10 w/ a late '30s style Chevy truck nose, just hideous.
  4. That's funny...don't know what the rule is in AZ, but I've seen cars less than 10 years old w/ plates faded so much they are barely readable...
  5. End of the month is always the worst time to go to those places. Here in Phoenix it's every two years....last time I went, I went at 5 on a Tuesday in the middle of the month and was in and out in 15 minutes.
  6. Definitely a '68...I have two of the '68 MPC Bonnevilles, one was mint until I stepped on it..the other is built but restorable.
  7. In the last week, I've purchased the AMT retro style box reissue '67 Shelby, the '72 Opel GT, an unbuilt Johan Petty Superbird (molded in bright green, thinking about a street machine w/ 6 pack hood scoop), a rebuildable MPC '80 Volare 'Fuzz Duster' (been looking for one of those for years), and an unbuilt AMT Subaru Brat (been looking for one of those for years also).
  8. Nice Adventurer. (that was the name of the trim package, not Avenger--Avenger is a modern FWD Dodge sedan). I like the color and wheel choice, the stance is perfect..pickups w/ a relatively empty bed usually sat high in back like that... I have one of those resin short beds along w/ a '79 4 headlight grille and hood, plan to do a replica of the '79 Power Wagon I learned to drive in..
  9. Nice and green there in PA...somehow, I don't think the rock lawn w/ cactii would look good there..
  10. Better them than me out there on Saturday mornings in July when it's 105 at 8am.. My yard guys come year round, ever other weekend.
  11. Yep... I put a winter yard in this year...this pic was taken back in August '11 when my yard didn't look that great, ...hot and dry..
  12. Heh-heh..one of those xerascaped (sp?) yards that are popular here. Mine is nice and green, but my neighbor has an astro turf-like synthetic grass yard.
  13. Someone in my neighborhood has a dark red '56 Mk II...I see it in the driveway once in a while, kind of a rare sight. Neat cars. That Cobra is sweet.
  14. Would make a neat kit, as would a regular '13 Shelby, but won't happen.
  15. It's an unfortunate situation, the problem w/ the focus on older subjects is it alienates people interested in building models of current subjects. Not every modeler in the US is in the older crowd that Revell and Moiebus are catering to with kits of 40-70 yr old subjects. There are quite a few modern, late model subjects that deserve to be kitted. I like a lot of the old subject kits, but the lack of a steady release every year of kits of modern subjects is frustrating...it was a much better situation 20-25 years ago as far as then-current subjects being kitted.
  16. Ah, secret insider info. Good to know.
  17. The '69 looks the same as the '67 in the pics there except the middle horizontal bar is thicker. One thing I noticed on the tooling mock up pics is the grille on the '69 seems be rounded vertically and bulge out, while the 1:1 seems flatter..
  18. What's a 'DoAllSer' ? Revell's lead times for new kits is absurd, esp. considering how fast Fujimi and Aoshima are able bring new models to market. I can understand if it is the corporate access, because Revell used to be able to bring new subjects to market in a timely manner--IIRC, the '97 Ford F-series kits, '99 Mustang Cobra, '99 Silverado all came to market in reasonable times, as did the '05 Mustang, Corvette, etc. Yet more recent subjects like the '10 Mustang GT and Shelby came out two years late. It's a non-issue for 40-70 year old subjects, but for current subjects it matters to be timely. DIecast companies release new subjects in a timely manner...
  19. True..there are still plenty of 32 Ford and 57 Chevy variations for them to do....
  20. I suspect Round 2/AMT will have a curbside by 2015....Revell is so slow on new stuff they probably will get one out in 2017 after the 6th gen is out a year..
  21. It's a nice MCE that will do until the 6th gen on Alpha comes out in a few years. I like the tail lights, kind of a '69 styling cue w/ the 3 elements. Nice to see the Z/28 name return.
  22. I remember saving up my Golden Wheels tokens off MPC boxes as a kid in the '80s..I sent them in, wanted the 'Velvet Vette' '57 Corvette, but they sent me the '57 Corvette Gasser flip-front kit..
  23. What does RR have to do with the Modelhaus? Post #41 refers to Don Holthaus..
  24. I've never had a problem w/ the Modelhaus. One of the best in the business, IMO.
