  1. For storing builtups I've bought that are missing their original boxes as well as promos, I use the 550 count sports card boxes...heavy cardboard w/ folding lid. They are available on eBay and at sports collectibles stores. Pretty sturdy. I've also noticed that several of the better resin casters ship their kits in similar boxes. If you are looking for actual model car boxes but blank, I don't know of any sources for them.
  2. Sharp build..nice period color choices.
  3. The Monogram Satellite was in the '82-84 range IIRC. No idea if MPC still had the license...they released the '74 RR as a 'GTX' in the mid '80s because I assume they didn't have a license then.
  4. It is odd that AMT did the Wildcats up through '66 then again in '69-70 but skipped '67-68. Those big fastbacks were all pretty interesting, IMO.
  5. The 1:1 subject is so hideous that the only way to improve it would be to run over it with a tank.
  6. Something always seemed off about the 4wd wheels & tires on those kits...I read somewhere that they may have been 1/20th scale parts.
  7. One that I haven't seen in this thread that has been reissued at least twice w/ the same error is the MPC Dodge Dart Sport. MPC reissued it in the '80s labeled as a Plymouth Duster, and AMT did the same about 10 years ago in the RC2 era. Similarly for the MPC '74 Road Runner which MPC issued as a GTX in the '80s and AMT more recently (presumably for the same reason Monogram called their Road Runner a Satellite--to avoid paying for the naming rights).
  8. I've never seen one in resin...the latest 88 in kit form was the AMT '65. Would be nice...the '67/68 was a great looking car, IMO.
  9. No one seems to comprehend that the images in first post are not official Ford images..they are just someone's renditions of what it might look like...and the black car in the 3 pics is just an engineering mule using a modified current body..
  10. You can't take any of the pictures on the internet currently seriously....those are just someone's thought about what it could look like, nothing official has been shown...it probably won't be shown for real until at least the LA auto show this winter...
  11. It has an IRS w/ a transverse spring. The Mustang is the only RWD car left on the US market (or in the world, probably) w/ a solid rear axle. Every other performance or sports car uses an IRS.
  12. That's not a pic of the real car, just something from someone's imagination.
  13. 'Il Ferrari' would have been better ('il' being the masculine 'the' whereas 'la' is the feminine).
  14. Apparently it's popular...strange stuff. I wouldn't buy one of those, but a lot of people must like it.
  15. Yeah, that one...a couple other ancient kits that have been reissued over and over that deserve a modern-tooled version IMO are the AMT '66 Mustang (maybe as a '65 instead) and the AMT '65 GTO.
  16. Interesting..the post w/ atalog illustrations someone had posted has vanished. So in '77 they had illustrations rather than photos. I have the AMT '79 catalog--my oldest model kit catalog--and it has photos of the box art for some kits and photos of builtups for other kits.
  17. I don't think I've ever known anyone my age or younger that admitted to being into stamp collecting. In the modern era of electronic communication stamps just seem to be a quaint artifact of a past era.
  18. or pursuing some other dead/dying hobby like stamp collecting, coin collecting, trainspotting, collecting dust, etc...
  19. Another one is the 'Dannon Yogurt' truck and trailer set...same truck and trailer as the 7up set. I built the Dannon kit as a kid in '78/79...very nicely detailed, and they were my first effort at heavy truck kits.
  20. Yeah, they've gone about as far as they can with the solid rear axle...I still like the '05-14 car quite a bit, wouldn't mind having one when I have more garage space.
  21. I've never had a problem w/ the cars I've had w/ IRS ('96 BMW M3, Cadillac STS, a couple older Mercedes) but I'm not a drag racer, more into good handling. So this should be a big improvement. As good as the '12-13 Boss 302 was at handling, I would expect the new car w/ IRS to be even better...it's still over a year away until launch, so more information should be coming late in the year...
  22. Probably used the rear steer suspension that was available for a few years on the GMT-800 era ( '99-06) Silverado. I've never seen a '67-72 crew cab, I'm assuming it's a custom..
  23. With the redline tires and outrageous styling, it looks like a 1:1 of a Hot Wheels fantasy model.
  24. The extended cab body and interior already exists w/ the snap kit, I'd hunt down one of those rather than waste time and effort cutting up two cabs to make one. Take the snap kit, shorten the frame, and use the bed from the short bed kit.
  25. Seems like the way to proceed is to take a shortbed kit (either the 454 SS or stepside kit) and the longbed extended cab snap kit and do some cut and pasting...
