Anyway, putting the thread back on track, I don't think the hobby is necessarily going to die off in the next decade or two, but it's going to evolve. 3d printing is going to have an impact in time, for DIY crafting of parts, the resin, etc aftermarket appears to be healthy, maybe another out-of-left field company like Moebius and Trumpeter will appear. At some point, I would think there would be a generational shift away from so many '30s-50s subjects to newer subjects.

Any clubs in the Phoenix/Mesa,Az area?

I'm probably 50/50...I do buy plenty of kits online, but it's hard to beat the convenience of a close hobby shop...and for supplies I often hit the Hobby Bench at 19th Av and Northern which is close to home. -

Probably...I haven't been to Hobby Bench in a while. Hobby Depot being about 10 min from my office makes it easy for me. -

Revell new releases tend to be around $22-24. So about the same as from an online vendor w/ shipping. Didn't realize they were under new ownership...I've been going there around 4 years since I moved here. -
Where does this delusion come from? You need new glasses. The Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Challenger look nothing like each other. The overall performance capabilities of today's Mustang, Camaro, etc far exceeds that of the originals, not to mention the reliability. Cadillac has some great cars today--the incredible CTS-v being one. I love my STS. Have you even driven a modern car or are you just stuck in 1960 or wherever your happy place is?

Hobby Depot is my favorite...was in there yesterday, they had the Revell '84 Caddy custom and '56 Ford truck reissues in stock. -
I wouldn't try it..you would end up w/ an unreigsterable vehicle in most places..not to mention voiding the warranty. Besides, today's engines are more efficient, usually more powerful and definitely cleaner than old engines.. As far as 3D printing and modeling, that's definitely something I want to play with..I do want to learn 3D modeling, being a software engineer I love experimenting w/ software and learning new systems...

I'm just tired of the attitude so many of the older crowd have towards anything modern, be it cars or technology. They are free to live in the past and wallow in their nostalgia, but I'm more interested in the subjects of my era that are underserved by the model companies....equally legitimate kit subjects as the older subjects.

Blah blah blah '50-60s are the best'....'anything modern is ugly'...blah blah..same tired argument. You don't seem to comprehend that some of us like the cars of the last 40 years and today...the past is gone, you can stick w/ your rose colored glasses view of the past, but I'm more interested in the subjects of my own lifetime and today..

Bottom line--Round 2, Revell and Mobieus will continue focusing on subject matter that primarily appeals to the older generations as they are a majority of model buyers in the US. It's an unfortunate situation, but that's just the way it is. It will be interesting to see how the hobby looks in 10 years.
