  1. I liked the '68 Grand Prix in 'Goodfellas'... I notice goofs like that in movies all the time... I remember in 'Arlington Road' Jeff Bridges' character's Ford Contour switched from a '95-97 to a '98-00 in a chase scene..
  2. Maybe, maybe not. My generation and the younger ones (Y/Millenial and Z) have grown up w/ video games and other forms of entertainment...modeling never was a wide spread phenomenon as it was for the Baby Boomers. I remember as a kid in the '80s being pretty much the only modeler amongst my friends, everyone was into Atari, etc games..
  3. I'd do '83-86...do '83-84 H/O and '85-86 442 versions.. The '81-86 were pretty much identical year-to-year other than yearly grill changes ('87-88 had composite headlights). Not much of note for the '78-80, except for the '79 H/O version. 1/24th if they based it on the existing MC/GN tooing. 1/25th for all new.
  4. Hunter S. Thompson's Red Shark '71 Impala convertible would be an interesting Vegas-related build.
  5. That's a good question... my impression is that the # of modelers in my generation (X) and younger is much smaller than amongst the Baby Boomers.
  6. The older demographic does seem to be the biggest, numbers wise.. the subject matter seems to have skewed older a lot in recent years.
  7. I'm not sure if '80s subjects fit in with the current strategy of kits targeting the 65 and up demographic (all the '50s cars that have been coming out and are coming). May be too new..
  8. Yeah, not to mention it's just the body..not very useful w/o the interior, grille, etc..
  9. The wheel wells look off...the 1:1 had some distinctive contours around the wheel wells...
  10. Oooh..maybe they are planning to do a donk version!
  11. Just because something goes for a lot on ebay doesn't mean it would sell well as a kit. Look at some of the duds that the model companies have reissued in the last decades where the originals went for a lot.
  12. They haven't announced the 2nd half 2012 announcements yet...
  13. Who knows...Revell recently did a '72 Cutlass, a '50 Olds is coming...maybe an '80s Cutlass will be next...but I'm sure there is a sound business case for why they haven't done it yet.
  14. I remember Showtime Resins...IIRC, it was in So Cal and the proprietor was Carlos Aguilar. I bought a resin '67 Caprice coupe from him maybe 10 years ago, it's a pretty nice body IIRC.
  15. That's pretty cool.
  16. I avoid the 'reality' show nonsense on Speed and stick to the races...ALMS, F1, NASCAR, Grand Am, and the occasional BTCC, WTCC, DTM race. If they showed more racing and less nonsense, I'd be happy. I do watch some of the auction coverage also. Velocity has a couple decent shows..I like Wayne Carini's Chasing Classic Cars and the British Wheeler Dealer show.
  17. Yes, I think the wheelbase difference is ahead of the firewall...
  18. Looks good at first glance...
  19. Maybe more race cars, but since the 300 was a 1-bodystyle only model, it's kind of limited. Unless they tool up a '56 or a '55 Windsor or New Yorker convertible or other bodystyle...
  20. The Pro Modeler one had drag racing parts and two engines, IIRC.
  21. Besides out of the box builds, this kit has lots of interesting potential...I suspect with some effort it could be kitbashed with the AMT '51 Chevy kits to do a Chevy coupe and Olds hardtop, convertible, and fastback variations...
  22. Is there any other racing equipment (roll cage, etc?). The interior looks stock in the pic..
  23. It also resembles the cab design of Hot Wheels 'Heavyweights' trucks and some toy trucks from Tonka and Nylint. I guess the glassy cabover look was the in look for futuristic truck design circa 1970..
  24. I haven't subscribed to a print paper in a over a decade...I get news from newspaper websites of interest to me (Arizona Republic, Denver Post, NY Times, LA Times, etc) along w/ email and Twitter updates from MSNBC, Reuters, BBC, aggregators like Google news, etc..and several other sites and Twitter feeds for tech industry news..
  25. I remember tornado warnings from when I lived in Ohio, but never had any happen near me. I don't miss the damp, gray cold winters and humid summers.
