  1. May be doing Android development also for some of my company's clients....kind of want to target both markets... I've done a bit of Android development on the side. Most of my development work over the years has been enterprise applications, but getting into mobile.. speaking of wireless carriers, i worked for a formerly big telecom company back in the '90s that got acquired by one of the big wireless carriers...telecom is an interesting world...
  2. Speech to text is great...that plus Bluetooth makes my phone easy to use while driving...no more wedging it between my shoulder and ear...
  3. As far as technology and the modern world goes, some people are luddites..my older brother is one...doesn't have a cell phone or computer. Hard to really communicate w/ him...he's not interested in modern cars, modern music, etc.. kind of living in the past in rural Ohio..I find we have very little of common interest to talk about.
  4. Got the Galaxy Nexus? Pretty sweet phone from what I've read....I've got a Droid 2 currently, thinking my next phone might be a Droid 4, Droid Razr or something from the Galaxy range...waiting to see what Apple does next w/ the iPhone also, I may be doing some iPhone app development soon...
  5. Sometimes I like to look up things related to the show I'm watching...look up a particular actor on IMDB or Wikipedia. Now if's it a particularly engrossing movie or Top Gear, then I put down the 'puter....but if it's just junk food TV or a rerun then it's more just background... I'm just comfortable multitasking...no different than listening to the radio while working on a model...or listening to my iPod while on the computer.
  6. I like my iPad...I use it for surfing when watching TV, got tired of the weight of my laptop when watching TV....tablets are great for reading magazines (though for books I prefer my Kindle)...working on switching my print mag subscriptions to electronic form. When I need a bigger screen for work, etc I have a 24 inch monitor that I connect my laptop to (or to the TV to watch movies, etc).
  7. When I'm in a restaurant and waiting on my meal, I find myself reading Twitter updates, checking Facebook, reading Gmail....even checking modeling websites on my phone. I do try and put down the phone once the food is on the table, though.. I also remember back in the 20th century reading paper 'newspapers'...haven't read one of those in years in paper form.
  8. Scale Equipment Ltd has some pretty nice chromed ones also.
  9. I'm 41, like to think I'm pretty tech savvy...I work as a software engineer, so I've been comfortable around technology and gadgets for decades..always been a bit of a gadget fan..going way back to my first cell phone 15 years ago (remember the Motorola Star-Tac? The 'brick phones'?) Have a Motorola Droid 2 now...had laptops since the mid '90s and my first computer was a Commodore 64 back in the 80s...iPod, iPad, DVRs, Blu-Ray, HDTV, digital cameras, etc...been there, done that..I remember switching to CDs from cassettes in the late '80s, DVDs from VHS in the late '90s (had a Beta VCR way back in the '80s), etc.
  10. I don't think I'll ever get a desktop again..haven't had one in over 4 years now. I like the flexibility w/ a laptop, don't want to be stuck in my home office all the time.
  11. I have a Dell Studio XPS that I've had for about 18 months, no problems..had to replace the battery, though. Also have a 4yr old Apple Mac Book Pro that still works fine. Using a Mac Book Pro at work also. Only complaint about both the Dell and the Mac is the weight...heavy.. In 17 years of laptop ownership, I've had 1 Compaq, 3 Toshibas, 2 Dells and a Mac Book...the Toshibas were nothing but trouble..one only lasted 6 months. On the other hand, my sister has a 4 yr old Toshiba that still works fine..
  12. Sorry to hear of this...I can relate, had to put down my 14 yr old Westie boy the day after Thanksgiving after a long illness. Have two other 13 yr old girls (an Aussie Terrier and a Silky), a 12 yr old Westie girl, and a 3 yr old Yorkie girl. I understand how hard it is, I've got a deep bond w/ my furkids...
  13. Lucky you...I only have the 2 '77s....the other 3 are all on my 'grail' list...
  14. One thing that is annoying is they made the decal sheet too large to fit in the box...makes it a pain to pack everything back in after opening.
  15. I don't know if the sedan kit ever had them...it was tooled up at least 25 years after the Nomad was.
  16. Wasn't there a Boyds or Rides issue a few years ago also? I don't know how complete it was... I have the original issue and one from the '80s.
  17. A TR-6 kit would be neat... my ex-brother-in-law had one long time ago, I remember riding in that car..neat little car.
  18. The engine bay color looks like it's from a gold car...maybe that is what the original GL was before the crappy orange paint...and they made this 'resto' look authentic to the 1978 TV car...
  19. They have a JFK hearse this year...probably fake as well. I may go to B-J this year, not sure...I went to Gooding & Co and Russo & Steele last year, enjoyed those..not as large as B-J..though I enjoy the merch building at B-J the times I've gone before...
  20. Here's an article on Inside Line about the 'resto'... http://www.insideline.com/features/the-resurrection-of-general-lee.html
  21. I can't imagine there are many Crosley enthusiasts left...they are probably all older than Carroll Shelby..
  22. Nothing new here...stores have been doing that for at least 15-20 years.
  23. They probably just put the VIN on another body. Or a cut-and-paste of a front clip from another body. Remember...Hollywood, Barrett-Jackson--it's all smoke and mirrors..fake as a $3 bill.
  24. Looks like a typical worn 40+ yr old car under the hood, which I think was the intention..
  25. I briefly read the Hemmings article that said it was the original General Lee..the first car wrecked on the show (from the jump in the opening titles)....I read it was repaired and 'restored' to be as sloppily put together as a movie car normally is to get an authentic 1978 TV show car patina...
