  1. I often like to build 3 versions of a kit of a vintage subject in stock, period street machine, and modern G-machine styles..part of the fun is thinking about what set of wheels and tires work and then finding them for the non-stock builds..kits like the Revell '69 Nova, '69 Camaro, '68/69 Charger, '70 Torino lend themselves to this, IMO..
  2. I've used the one in the AMT '66 Galaxie a couple times. Never saw one in a Johan kit.
  3. The roof and glass of the Regal should be the same except for the quarter window shape. It's too bad Monogram didn't do an '83-84 Hurst/Olds back in the day, would have been great to go w/ the Monte SS and Regal GN kits.
  4. Was 46 this morning according to my car temp gauge..was in traffic behind a couple yahoos in a home built topless Lincoln Mk V..they must have been freezing...
  5. Been cool in the mornings here, but was 80 yesterday...nice winter weather, I like to drive around w/ the sunroof open and windows down.
  6. They are reissuing the Revell '77 Chevy van...same kit, isn't it? Different box art..
  7. Speaking of Beetles, Revell was supposed to reissue one in '11 but it never happened...I assume that is an old Revell tool?
  8. Supply and demand. Also, with this particular item, sellers are probably jacking up the price because they know Revell is reissuing it soon...like the Gremlins and Manxes that appeared on eBay w/ high prices in recent weeks...
  9. That Olds is cool...would look great in 1:25th...
  10. ...and all the AMT vans have a '71-72 style dash I think...
  11. Yes...and the Camaro...the new Camaro w/ factory 20s is drop dead sexy IMO...
  12. For a modern car w/ modern-size wheels and tires, the Mustang w/ 19s looks about perfect to me..
  13. Tires are wider today on average, esp. the performance tires, compared to the bicycle-tire width tires of olden days..
  14. I like the Pro-Touring/G-Machine/Nellisized style of modern wheels and tires on old cars, like these..tasteful, not blinged or donked..
  15. I remember back in the late '80s when real cars started getting 16 inch wheels..one of the first that I remember was the Camaro IROC-Z. IMO most of today's cars look fine w/ 17-19 inch wheels, some cars look good w/ 20s, like the Challenger which has large wheelwells, it doesn't look good w/ small wheels. As far as old cars in scale go, I generally build stock or period street machine styles, though I do like the Pro Touring style with realistic wheel sizes--maybe up to 18-19 inch on a '60s car.,don't care for the Jada style approach w/ 22-24 inch wheels w/ zero room for suspension travel.
  16. I can't imagine 12-14yr olds having any interest in '30s-50s cars w/ big wheels. At the car shows, it's older gray haired guys that seem to be driving them..
  17. I have the reissue of the '65 Lincoln..alas, the body was warped. I have the original issue sedan and convertible kits from the '60s ('61-65, sedans from '66-69), love those big Lincolns...
  18. The model companies are just responding to real-world trends in hot rodding...I've been a couple of the Goodguys shows here in recent years and the big wheels and tires are definitely popular in 1:1. Some kits are anchored in a specific point in time, and others get updated..like the Monogram '40 Ford truck, stuck w/ those '80s wheels..
  19. Cool...that will be a must have for me then.
  20. No, that's the definition from urbandictionary.com. It's been a common term on the internet for years...since I work in the software industry, I've seen and heard it for years.
  21. Definition from the Urban Dictionary.. Woot originated as a hacker term for root (or administrative) access to a computer. However, with the term as coincides with the gamer term, "w00t". "w00t" was originally an trunicated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for "Wow, loot!" Thus the term passed into the net-culture where it thrived in video game communities and lost its original meaning and is used simply as a term of excitement.
  22. Looks like some reissues and Revell US reboxes (Shelby and Camaro). Odd to not see a 458 Italia Spyder. The Lone Star is a rebox of the Mobieus kit, I've read elsewhere.. Not familiar w/ the RoG 250 SWB...is that a reissue? IIRC, ESCI made one that AMT issued about 20 years ago, wasn't well regarded.
  23. Model Roundup is showing them in stock today also. Ordered the Gremlin and Chevy van from them earlier today (found my Manx at the LHS on Thurs).
  24. Looks good w/ the Pegasus wheels..may have to do one that way. I plan to do one stock for certain, maybe a 2nd one slightly modified w/ modern size wheels and tires and a modern Hemi..
  25. I saw they were in stock at Model Roundup today also...got my order in.
