  1. I'm sure with a Google image search you can finds lots of pics..that's where I usually check first..
  2. It's a Galaxie 500..has a lot more trim than a Custom 500 had. Says "Galaxie 500" on the decklid also....what a real police department would have bought 40 years ago doesn't have anything to do with AMT's choice back then. I've built a few of these kits, my biggest beef with them was the engine--AMT put a Boss 429 in this kit, which is wrong... Anyway, sharp build..like the color combination.
  3. Got in the mail today the Tim Fock '52 Hudson stock car and an AMT Porsche 935 race car from '91 (has Martini decals). Not familiar w/ the origin of this Porsche kit, maybe ESCI?
  4. That's pretty cool...I saw pics of a 1:1 that someone built by grafting a Taurus/Sable wagon roof on to a CV body..looked wierd since the Taurus was significantly narrower. I wonder if Ford at one point prototyped a wagon version of the '92+ CV/GM internally?
  5. Cool...I spent a few years in the mid '90s in SE Michigan (Ann Arbor)...my favorite hobby shops were Riders in downtown A2 and on Carpenter Road in Ypsi...there was also a nice shop up in Flint that I'd visit every 6 months or so. Haven't been back to the area in over 10 years, though.
  6. Cool..those CTS-Vs are pretty sweet...looked at the coupe, sedan and wagon at my local Caddy store back in the summer when I bought my STS...they were about $15k more than I wanted to spend, though.
  7. Of the cars I've owned, I've had kits of two..the '87 Mustang GT (MPC) and '96 BMW M3 (Dragon). Wouldn't mind a kit of the Bronco II to replicate the '88 I had, or a '99-04 Grand Cherokee like my '00. Revell makes a custom '05 Caddy STS-v, but it would take some work to make a replica of my '11 STS. I took a Revell 1:32nd '79 Mustang coupe and painted it to approximate my '86 LX 2.3 I had in college.
  8. Vice-versa has been happening lately..the Revell modern-tool '55 ht and convertible have been reissued w/ the Monogram label in the last year or so..
  9. A '55-56 DeSoto at some time in the future might make sense.... I'm surprised the resin casters didn't do a '57 DeSoto to work w/ the AMT '57 Chrysler 300C..that would have been sweet...correction, looks like The Modelhaus has '57 DeSoto Fireflite curbside kit.
  10. The only issue I see w/ the Revell GT kit was its timing..Revell came out w/ 2010 models in 2011 as the 1:1 2012s were coming out... so slow to market. Likewise w/ the Camaros--the 1:1 '12s are out, but Revell hasn't even released their '10 kit yet. The '10 GT w/ the 4.6 is a great kit, but it should have been out 2 years ago. Oh well...it's better to have them late than never.
  11. As far as the tow truck, I have the '90s issue..figure I'll just build it as a curbside eventually. I have a bunch of the MPC '78-84 Chevy and GMC pickups in my stash w/ various builds in mind.
  12. The Revell Torino seems like the best place to start. I need to round up a few 429/460s to use w/ '70 Galaxie, '71 Galaxie and '78 LTD builds...though w the '78 I might use a 351 instead.
  13. Hopefully we will see something from Revell with the 2nd half '12 releases...a '12 (or '13, since the '13 refresh is coming soon) GT or Boss 302 would be great...
  14. It's the new tool..the '55 convertible was the first of the new tools back in the '90s IIRC...
  15. Those CTS-Vs are incredible...
  16. I thought about the Chrysler 300..esp. in the brown color. Drove a couple rental 300s this year. I really like the Caddy.. Who knows, may change my mind in a few years and trade. I plan to get a new fun car in the next couple years..the Challenger SRT8 or Mustang Boss 302 are high on my list.
  17. Well, the AMT '55 is the only one for a styrene 2dr sedan. Revell did do a diecast 2dr sedan of the car from American Graffitti, which would be similar to the TLB car...
  18. True enough...I love 'em loaded...haven't bought a car w/ manual windows in 25 years... my Jeep has heated seats and mirrors, my Caddy one ups that with heated and cooled seats. Regular cupholders, though..I'd like to see heated and chilled cupholders as an option.
  19. Well, most every month this year has been at least 1-2 or more new Revell kits for me, but January is definitely going to be an AMT month...the van, Myers Manx, Gremlin..got to do some preorders.
  20. I've put 135k on my '00 Grand Cherokee that I bought new--keeping it as a backup daily driver and for winter driving up in the mountains..it's been pretty reliable over all. My new daily driver--an '11 Caddy STS--has a bit over 4k miles now, hope to get 10 years out of it.
  21. I prefer the reliability, safety features and cabin electronic goodies of modern cars. I tend to buy new and drive 'em for 10 years or more....
  22. The previous issue didn't have the stock tires...this is just a straight reissue of that version.
  23. Looks like a cool kit...one of the open top ones would be a neat variation.
  24. .Volvo is a Swedish company, though it has a Latin name. I've known many SAAB and Volvo owners, they tend to be professionals and good people...don't know if that is what you mean by 'uppity'. Are you intentionally trying to sound like a redneck (stereotype).
  25. Yeah, I remember when I was a kid Revell kits were the worst..the ones to avoid. One of the first kits I built--the first 1:25th scale glue kit, IIRC---as a 7-yr old was the late '70s issue of the '56 Chevy w/ opening doors, trunk, etc...was a pain to put together, molded in an ugly green. Then I remember the some Mustang and Firebird kits from '79-80 or so that had weird squishy tires and poor engine and interior detailing... I didn't really get into Revell kits until the late '80s after they acquired Monogram and started putting out some new tooling.
