  1. From eBay an AMT '60s 2 kit set of a Porsche 904 and Ferrari P4...it's a Heller tool originally I understand..unbuilt, and really cool..love the subject matter and box art.
  2. Kitbash it with another airplane like a F16 or something.. When I've been bored w/ a build, I just put it back in the to-do closet to pick up again later. I have some kits I started 20+ years ago that I have yet to finish.
  3. Don't know that for sure, but the buzz I've seen about it here and elsewhere is that it's not 1:24th regardless of what the box says...
  4. I wouldn't mind having one, but correctly scaled to 1:24th to go w/ the bus.
  5. Spent my teenage years living in Marathon, in the Middle Keys. Beautiful down there. Thinking about going down to the Keys for a vacation in '12...
  6. AMT is reissuing the Econoline next year also (Vantom). I just assume they weren't connected...just for show like the side pipes on '50s customs often were.
  7. I saw a really cool phantom Charger Daytona convertible in one of the Mopar mags recently...plan to do one like that in 1:25th eventually. I have a couple other phantom Charger convertible kit builds I've started using the Revell '69s...one was a kit that I bought new but had a crushed roof, so I'd like to do it similar to a show car that Chrysler had back then--a low-windshield 2 seat Charger roadster..the other is a conventional convertible using the boot from a Coronet.
  8. We didn't feel like cooking for xmas so went to a delicious Christmas brunch at a restaurant at a local mountain top resort. Didn't really get anything modeling related for xmas- some shirts, Macys and Amazon gift cards, some Blu Ray movies. I have a couple gifts to myself I'm waiting on from eBay, incl. one vintage model. Today just hung out watching a Top Gear marathon on TV..
  9. When I was in Paris, I was enjoying the food and culture (museums, etc) too much to look for hobby shops...
  10. For 50 yr old tooling, it does hold up pretty well. I don't do customs, so the custom parts will go in the parts box.
  11. No..the black and gold was a special edition or something. They came in wide variety of colors IIRC.
  12. Is this the kit that there was some issue with the scale, that it was more like 1:22nd? Or was that the Aoshima one..
  13. I use Fotki. Some people probably use Photobucket, Smugmug, Flickr or others...
  14. I think that was the season I quit watching...I was 12, was getting too old for it.
  15. I can see getting 2-3...one stock in a period color scheme, 1 drag, and maybe 1 to kitbash w/ the resin '71. For something more out there, a 6 wheel stretched nose version w/ the Allison engine like the Hot Wheels 'Open Fire' car would be cool.
  16. Hopefully the stock parts are there..perfect to build a worn work van or serial killer-type van (that's what these blind box style vans make me think of).
  17. Sharp...I have the Tamiya kit unbuilt. Picked up a 1991 issue AMT 935, kind of simplified, but not bad..don't recall the AMT kit..maybe it was of ESCI or Airfix origin?
  18. Missing Link has a '71 Galaxie 500 and a '78 LTD. http://www.missinglinkrc.com/Ford.html Iv'e seen the pic on Blue Oval Resin Works site of the '87-91.. looks a bit off, IMO
  19. IIRC, someone offered one in resin back in the '90s..never saw one built up, though. The only diecast 1:64th ones I can think of were by Matchbox (pretty toy-like) and Johnny Lightning.. There is a clean 1:1 around here in dark gray..plain, no vinyl top..has the look of an unmarked police car from 20+ years ago.
  20. Yes, the top of the grille is actually attached to the hood on the 1:1...and I believe it being chrome/bright is a Galaxie 500-specific trim piece..wasn't there on the Customs that I've seen pics of..
  21. Funny....the CVT was supposed to be the be-all, end-all, it's found some use, but hasn't taken over. Automatics are up to 8 speeds now on some models, 9 speeds are coming...wonder when they will get bicycle-like #s of ratios...21 speed tranny, anyone? Nice to see a small number of makers still doing manuals, with Porsche advancing to 7 speeds now..
  22. I'm sure with a Google image search you can finds lots of pics..that's where I usually check first..
  23. It's a Galaxie 500..has a lot more trim than a Custom 500 had. Says "Galaxie 500" on the decklid also....what a real police department would have bought 40 years ago doesn't have anything to do with AMT's choice back then. I've built a few of these kits, my biggest beef with them was the engine--AMT put a Boss 429 in this kit, which is wrong... Anyway, sharp build..like the color combination.
