HELP! Im gettin old!
Rob Hall replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Reminds me, I've been getting AARP invites in the mail since I was 39 a couple years ago....they must be clueless. I have a long way to go until retirement... As far as misplacing glasses, I've had a bad habit of leaving them in the bathroom then going to bed...then get up and fumble around looking for them in the morning... -
2013 Dodge Dart !

Wouldn't have worked...Coronet has very little name recognition compared w/ Charger. Likewise for Monaco or Polara... I know the purists squalk over it being a 4dr, but it's a great car overall, IMO. The Charger is a good example of retro modern...very modern car w/ some retro touches like the name and some styling cues. -
2013 Dodge Dart !

According to what I've read, the body is a few inches wider than the Alfa to accomodate typical super-sized Americans. Probably the MiTo...a 5dr hatch, most likely. -

I've also read that a sub compact hatchback model (to compete w/ models like the Fiesta, Fit, Sonic, Accent, Rio, etc) is likely coming in another year or so... -

And the Dart name fits well w/ Avenger, Charger, Nitro... as far other names they could have reused, Neon has probably a less than great image but better than past compact turds like Aspen or Aries... -
I knew someone in high school that had something like that...a worn out, rusty '78-79 Regal with about a $2000 (1988 dollars) sound system...massive subs, etc.

If it's well executed, this could be the competitive compact Chrysler has needed for years. The compact market is a very busy segment w/ a lot of very competent, modern entries--Focus, Cruze, Golf/Jetta, Mazda3, Civic, Elantra, etc... -
Pictures of the sprues w/ parts and the body were posted in the iHobby threads in October..not really close up, but decent enough to see how the parts are organized. The door panels are on a sprue w/ the firewall. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49137&st=0

I remember back in the 80s when paint schemes like this were called monochrome....all white or all red were pretty popular in the late '80s... Greenlight has done an interesting line of 'Black Bandit' diecast done in the all black style. I've got plans to do a few kits this way (such as a '69 Charger w/ vintage NASCAR racing wheels)..

Yeah...makes no sense.

Funniest thing are the people who seem to put more money in the stereo than the car itself...seen many worn out junkers w/ loud sound systems...what's the point?

Postal Cuts to slow delivery times.
Rob Hall replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh well...such it is. Packages are most of the mail I get via USPS these days...very little letter mail other than a few magazines since I pay all my bills online and have been switching to electronic versions of magazines. -
I have 4 of the AMT '62s (incl. an original issue w/ the opening decklid) but I can definitely see getting a couple of the new one...one to do stock and one to do Pro Touring style...w/ a modern Corvette drivetrain maybe..

Models in Walmart.....
Rob Hall replied to coolplastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, that was a one-time only about 15 yrs ago...I stick to my dealer for the new car and a couple good local shops for maintenance on my older cars. -

Don't know about the product they sell, but the one time I had an oil change at W-M they ruined my drain plug. -

Really good independent hobby shops seem to be getting harder to find in many areas unfortunately. The years I lived in Colorado I was fortunate to have several, same with when I lived in SE Michigan and NE Ohio in the '90s. -
And it's easier w/ the Shelby since the fascias are separate parts IIRC.
-
With a bit of work the front and rear fascias could be sawed off to swap in the Shelby ones to kitbash w/ the Shelby coupe...

There was a small hobby shop I went to once somewhere on the west side last summer where the proprietor had a gun on his hip...weird....Wild West stuff, I guess..not used to seeing people w/ guns in public like that. -

Saw a few Revell kits at the local K-Mart...haven't seen any kits at the Wal-Marts near me in Central Phoenix...the only hobby shop I usually frequent is Hobby Depot (good new kit selection) in Tempe which is more convenient now that I work in downtown Tempe. The Hobby Bench at 19th Ave and Northern is close to home and they have a decent kit selection, but usually don't have the latest releases. -
Whoever put the mockup box art together probably grabbed an image from GM's press photos w/o looking too closely....not sure about why they have the year goof..you would think they be labeling these kits as 2012s since the 2012s are out now....likewise for Revell and their Camaro kit...2010 is so 12+ months ago...
-
It is odd...the boxart shows a European spec '12 convertible (the big mirrors and wide plate are the giveways)..don't know why it's marked as a '10, since the convertible was a MY '11 addition to the Camaro line. I had read there was going to be an '11 IPC convertible promo.
-
Totally different since this is the production Camaro...and curbside.
