Pro Star and 53 ft Great Dane reefer
Rob Hall replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Wow..53 feet...I remember as a kid the standard size for trailers was 40 feet. Didn't realize they had become so long. -
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out..great idea. As a similar idea, I've thought a Magnum would look good with a Charger front end..thought about building something like that myself..

oooh...that looks sweet. I find the looks of the '56 much nicer than '55 from behind...don't care for the tacked-on taillight treatment of the '55. Maybe Moeibus will do one if the '55 is successful.

Scale auto renaissance?

No! I want a '69-71 Monaco. Much better looking than the '73. And I also want a '74 Monaco. (maybe the resin community will do some of these eventually...I've heard there was a '74 Monaco resin but that it's very rough). At least there are diecast '74s in at least 4 different scales (but none yet in 1:24/1:25th that I know of). -
Maybe a resin caster will do one of these..this Commodore Brougham roofline is very cool IMO..

Revell 1940 Custom Pick Up--Coming Soon
Rob Hall replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'm wondering how the stock or custom wheels and tires from the last '50 Ford truck reissue would look, even w/ the scale difference... -

JF is doing a phantom Hudson wagon also..saw it in another thread. Hopefully one of the resin casters will do a 4dr or the radical long roof 2dr Commodore Brougham bodystyle. -

I'd like to see a stock '50 Buick..that grille/bumper treatment is so wild. (though a custom-only '50 Buick kit could be a good companion piece for Revell's '48 Ford and '49 Mercury customs). -
What is everyones opinion on the I-Hobby announcements?
Rob Hall replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I do have a couple of the GMC reissues, 2wd suspension, and a grille from an '81 Chevy kit...plan to make a long bed by cutting and pasting w/ two beds (unless I find a better resin long bed) to do a replica of a 2wd '81 Chevy longbed fleetside my Dad had back in the day... -

I got a resin long bed from a seller on eBay..it was pretty rough. Don't know if there is another one out there. -

Limiting it to domestic subjects: 30's: More '32 Ford variations, though R&M of Md have that subject covered pretty well. I'd really like to see a B-400. 40's: 50's: '53 Cadillac Eldorado convertible. '53 Buick Skylark convertible. '56 Lincoln Mk II. 60's: '62-64 Studebaker GT Hawk. '68-69 Mercury Cyclone. '69-70 Mercury Marauder X100. '68-69 Chevelle SS new tool. 70's: Loads of interesting subjects here. To name a few: '71-72 Buick Riviera is my #1. Others: '71 Dodge Demon. '70 Chrysler 300 Hurst. '70-71 Plymouth Fury GT. '73 Chevelle SS. '73-75 Chevy Laguna. '77-79 Chevy Caprice 2dr coupe or 4dr. '78-79 Buick Le Sabre Turbo Coupe. '76-77 Olds Cutlass Supreme. '73 Buick Gran Sport. '73 Pontiac GTO. '73 Pontiac Grand Am. '77 Pontiac Can-Am. 80's? '83-84 Hurst/Olds and 442 variation. '86-87 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2. '85-86 Mustang GT. '85-86 Mustang LX 5.0 notchback. '87-93 Mustang LX 5.0 notchback. 90's: '94-96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. '92-96 Buick Roadmaster. 00's: '98-11 Ford Crown Victoria. '03-04 Mercury Marauder. '03-11 Lincoln Town Car. '08-09 Pontiac G8 GT or G8 GXP. '08-09 Pontiac Solstice. Cadillac XLR-v. 10s: '12 Mustang GT. '12 Mustang Boss 302 (and Laguna Seca variant). '12 Corvette Grand Sport. '12 Camaro ZL1. For a Studebaker, the one I'd really like to see kitted is the '62-64 GT Hawk. -

Variations. You can say the same about all the '57 Chevy variations. The point is the new engine in the '11 GT....and the Boss 302 is a nice variation...and Revell released the '10 GT after the '11 GT had already come out in 1:1. -

There isn't even one kit yet of the '11 Mustang! AMT did the '10 GT coupe and Shelby, and will be doing the '10 convertible, but the engine upgrades for '11 obsoleted the GT kit. I'd like to see them do the '12 Boss 302 and Boss 302 Laguna Seca in addition to the '11-12 GT and Shelby.. As far as the '57 Chevy, I wouldn't mind a '57 Nomad (the old Revell one and Monogram 1:24th ones aren't that good) and a '57 Bel Air convertible. And more variations of the '32 Ford would be interesting...Victoria, B-400, Phaeton, truck, Sedan Delivery, Sport Coupe, Cabriolet, 4 seat convertible, etc... -
Looking forward to the vans...I built the AMT 'Kandy Van' in the late '70s as a kid and the A-Team reissue. AMT had announced the 'Nirvana' van as a reissue for this year, don't know if that's going to happen in addition to the Dirty Donny Vantasy van or only the Vantasy version (same basic kit w/ different graphics). Never had the AMT Ford van. I built the '75 Cutlass snap kit in the '80s, can definitely use another. And the Revell van and '77 GMC pickup are welcome, never had those kits.

It will be interesting to see what else IMC can resurrect from Johan tooling. The Okey Spalding incarnation of Johan didn't yield very much...hopefully, IMC will have a better go at it.. -
I would assume when jacked up, the wheel would fall down a few inches...

I'd definitely like to see more modern cars kitted. I was born in '70, grew up in the '70s-80s...have loads of kits of '60s-70s subjects that I like...the '50s and older are too far before my time to be of much interest to me..have kits of some cars from before the '60s, but it's not my main area of interest. Reissues of '70s-80s subjects are welcome by me, that was the era I started building kits (1978, to be exact). Alas, many of the interesting cars of the late '70s were never kitted (like the '77-79 Caprice, '76-77 Cutlass Supreme, etc). Lots of modern subjects would be great in 1:25th or 1:24th scale beyond the usual Camaro/Corvette/Mustang/Challenger subjects---I'd like to see the new Charger and Chrysler 300, Ram truck, Ford Raptor, Cadillac CTS (esp. the V-series coupe or wagon), the new '12 Porsche 911, other current Porsches like the Boxster Spyder, GTS or Turbo, the Audi A4/S4 and A5/S5, A8, various Mercedes sedans and coupes (esp. the AMG versions), the current BMW Z4, M3, M5, etc. There are lots of interesting modern subjects that could be kitted. I'd like to have kits of modern SUVs also...the current Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Tahoe or Yukon, as well as the Cayenne, Escalade, etc would be interesting in kit form. -
Stacey David's Rat Roaster by : REVELL

Ah...wondered about that..thought it was a misspelling of 'Roadster'....but it's definitely not in Rat Rod style. -
Clever idea and clean execution!

The Daytona coupe would be sweet...I thought Fujimi was looking at doing it at one time...
