Woot! It's been released!
Rob Hall replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Definition from the Urban Dictionary.. Woot originated as a hacker term for root (or administrative) access to a computer. However, with the term as coincides with the gamer term, "w00t". "w00t" was originally an trunicated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for "Wow, loot!" Thus the term passed into the net-culture where it thrived in video game communities and lost its original meaning and is used simply as a term of excitement. -
Looks like some reissues and Revell US reboxes (Shelby and Camaro). Odd to not see a 458 Italia Spyder. The Lone Star is a rebox of the Mobieus kit, I've read elsewhere.. Not familiar w/ the RoG 250 SWB...is that a reissue? IIRC, ESCI made one that AMT issued about 20 years ago, wasn't well regarded.

Model Roundup is showing them in stock today also. Ordered the Gremlin and Chevy van from them earlier today (found my Manx at the LHS on Thurs).

Looks good w/ the Pegasus wheels..may have to do one that way. I plan to do one stock for certain, maybe a 2nd one slightly modified w/ modern size wheels and tires and a modern Hemi..

Keesly Hays Recall Mags

Scale Equipment Ltd also has them in resin, chromed. -
Sharp build..like the color.

The Lotus 7 is interesting as a vintage pure sports car. If I could have a modern pure sports car today, I'd like to have an Ariel Atom. The Lotus 7 was not about speed or looks, but handling and being a pure, simple, uncompromised sports car. The 7 and Atom are bit too hard core for a daily driver, though...for a daily driver sports car I wouldn't mind having a Boxster.

When Did This Happen?

Sort of is..but I give Nissan credit for thinking outside the box..instead of the usual predictable FWD generic silver or white appliances, they are doing some offbeat designs.. -

I don't think the convertible CUV market is going to take off, but it would be interesting see more....or how about a convertible 4dr Caddy Escalade? That would be blingtastic... -
Resin kidney bean 15 inch wheels

I also think of the style of wheels on the MPC '78 LRE Dodge pickup. -
Who's excited or is it just me?
Rob Hall replied to Tye Brown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lots of good stuff to look forward to in 2012...I'm looking forward to the Revell '10 Camaro, '50 Olds, '57 Ford, '62 Corvette, '77 Chevy van, '77 GMC pickup, AMT's Chevy and Ford vans, Gremlin, the Mobeius '55 Chrysler, etc... Haven't heard much about new releases from Japanese companies for '12 other than the Fujimi Pantera which I'm looking forward to. -
I saw the SS coupe kit at the LHS yesterday...passed on it as I'm waiting on the full detail Revell kit (due in February or so).

The NV has been out for a year or so... strange looking van. There is a passenger version coming soon. -

It was in the magazines and Autoblog/etc maybe 6-8 months ago or more... I've seen them on the lot at the local Nissan store since summer. Nissan has been doing a lot of 'different' designs in recent years...this, the Leaf, Juke, etc... -
Those streamlined car parts look like the Monogram Olds Aerotech..

Picked mine up today at the LHS...pretty cool, like an all-new kit to me since I've never had let alone seen one of the originals. Mine is molded in white.
-
Picked up a couple new releases at the LHS today..the AMT Meyers Manx and Revell Compuware blue Corvette C5R. They also had the AMT curbside '10 Camaro SS coupe and '12 Corvette coupe in stock.

Wheelbase is different also. Would be quite a scrachbuilding effort...I'd love to see something like this in resin, but it would be a lot of work to master.

I don't have this issue of this kit, but love that shade of green on the 1:1 versions. My first build of this kit in the '80s was molded in red, which I painted black. I later got a couple of the reissues from maybe 10 years ago molded in gray. Neat kit.

Not 1:25th, but there are sweet '74 Le Sabres ( 2dr and wagon) available in 1:43rd currently from Neo Scale models in their American Excellence series.

questions for the tech savy among us
Rob Hall replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use an HDMI cable to connect my laptop to my 60 inch HDTV and watch content via Boxee, Hulu, Youtube, Netflix streaming, etc on the big screen. I have a DVR (tiVo) also, as well as the cable box, 2 DVD players (region 1 and multi-region), a Blu Ray player, and if I really want to kick it old school, a VCR. Lots of choices for entertainment media. Maybe too many. -
Yes, you could probably take the stock Belvedere kit w/ some drag parts from the CMG Dodge kit and aftermarket decals..

Nice....didn't the ads for that show originally have a Chevelle?
