Government Motors is born!
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed...it's going to take years to clean up the disaster the Repubs left behind. -
Government Motors is born!

Woo hoo...British Leyland. Part of what killed them was their absymal build quality and poor reliability. GM has the quality and reliability again, I believe. -
Government Motors is born!
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hopefully it will go better for GM than nationalisation did for British Leyland. But, the government only has 61% of GM...I expect they will work towards an IPO within a couple years to go independent again. -
The have only had one new tool (the '08/09 Challenger curbside) and a number of reissues. I wonder what the next new tool will be (and hopefully something full detail).

Drag City Casting UPDATED 7/10
Rob Hall replied to sdrodder's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've used Firefox for years on PCs and Macs, I've never had security problems with it, though some versions would get slow when I have 10 tabs open and crash. The latest seems quite stable. The last 6 months or so, though I've used primarily Chrome when on Windows, really liking it. -
What's your scale preference?
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I prefer 1:25th for domestic, 1:24th for import (or Monograms). I've also dabbled in 1:64th, 1:43rd, 1:32nd, 1:20th, 1:16th, 1:8th and 'box scale' styrene kits.. -
Finally finished! Revell '32 Ford Five Window Coupe Kit Build
Rob Hall replied to tim boyd's topic in Model Cars
That turned out really sharp. -
Cool...going to be something like the SEMA widebody concept, eh?

I bought a couple kits from Ray at a show years ago, and ordered from him directly years ago (took a long time to get them), now I just buy them on ebay occasionally..got the '70 300 and '67 Polara recently, happy w/ them.

3 New Round 2 releases indicated as "New Tooling"
Rob Hall replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They probably just swapped in the body from the F&F kit...it had a stock '69 Charger body, with the tunneled rear window, though not as nice as the Revell body. Sound like they are using the phrase 'all new' very, very loosely. -
New funny cars from Revell?
Rob Hall replied to Fuel Coupe's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes..Revell did a great job on the '05-09 style Mustangs, but I want to see kits of the '10 GT and GT500. And the '10 Camaro is out now in 1:1, where are the models??? Anyway, good to see some new vintage drag kits...I'm sure these will sell well w/ the gray hairs. -
This was the best thing I saw today: International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley reportedly sent a letter to Ferrari president and Formula One Teams Association chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo demanding an apology for remarks that the Englishman had been forced out of office and had behaved like a dictator. From f1total.net www.f1total.net Great drama!

Michael Jackson dead at 50
Rob Hall replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, he had a massive, global fan base and was the biggest pop star of the '80s...sold a lot of music. Kind of like how Elvis was to his generation, but likely bigger in terms of sales. Having grown up in the MTV era, he was everywhere for a few years there. Huge. Not really my thing, though, I was (and am still) more into rock... Sadly, with these events happening the same day, Farrah is a footnote on the news tonight. -
Michael Jackson dead at 50

I wasn't a huge fan, but he was definitely a big deal when I was growing up, back when MTV actually showed music videos and was a lot of fun. -
Who Likes 69-72 Chevelle Wagons
Rob Hall replied to dencon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
F&F resin did a '69 wagon years ago, I have one in my to-build resin collection. I'd love to see a '70 El Camino and '70 wagon. -
I wonder when the new season starts on BBC America. I do wish they would show them concurrently w/ the UK showings.
-
Maybe they can get his American cousin, 'Big Stig', to come to the UK for the show..
-
I would, but it's unbuilt and boxed up with the rest of my collection, 900 miles away.. I believe someone did post pics of a built up one somewhere on here in the last 6 months, though.

Apology accepted. -
New Revell '32 Ford 5-window coupe
Rob Hall replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Just imagine the fracas we would have had here if Revell had put an SBC in these kits instead of a Ford 5.0! The heresy!! AUUGGGGHHHH!!!! -
I've seen a few gray market Skylines in the states, in CA and CO...mostly R32s, but I've seen a couple R33s and R34s. Would be hard to drive a RHD car in the US, I think. Speaking of 1:1s, my '00 Grand Cherokee will be hitting 100k miles tomorrow. I've had it since new, just under 9 years now. Been very reliable.

New Revell '32 Ford 5-window coupe
Rob Hall replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The problems probably would have been how to fit all the parts in a standard box, plus the fact it would literally be two complete kits--other than the body, dash, and some trim (lights, grille), nothing else would be common. These Revell street rod kits go a lot further than the old AMTs which had the stock kit chassis and suspension with street rod engine and wheel/tire choices. Would have been nice, but was not to be. I'm a replica stock fanatic myself, but more with '50s-present cars..though I've built the AMT and Monogram stock '20s-30s Fords. But I also enjoy these street rod kits, if no other reason that they are a great source of parts. -
I have the AAM '71 Olds 88 and '71 Riviera in my unbuilt stash. I have a bunch of R&Rs to build eventually, mostly '59-65 GMs ('59 Olds 88 convertible, '62 Olds Starfire, '65 Cutlass) and Mopars ('67 Dodge Polara, '68 Sport Fury, '70 Chrysler 300). Lots of work needed, but they do have some unique subjects....
