  1. Cool...looking forward to all of these. Hopefully, my usual online vendor will have the Shelbys listed soon.
  2. Ah-hah...so that is the source of that quote...I've heard my buddy Steve say it for about 10 years now, never knew the source.
  3. The '68 AMT annuals and '71 MPC annuals (like the GTX, with real car artwork) are some of my favorites...as far as recent, I've been a fan of Fujimi's minimalist box art on Ferrari kits...
  4. I've never thrown any kit boxes out...I keep the box to store the kit in when it's built. I keep everything...
  5. Interesting...so the price has gone up. I got my Tamiya GT-R from HLJ in June, it was about $45 with shipping, IIRC.
  6. That's cool...aren't they planning on releasing a box (cargo) trailer of some sort also?
  7. The 2002 would be a great kit subject. It would have fit nicely into Tamiya's vintage kit series. I'd love to see some vintage Mercs also in 1:24, like a 'pagoda roof' W113 SL, a '60s 300SEL 6.3 (or one of the related coupes or convertibles), or a late '70s 450SEL 6.9.
  8. Yes, I'd love to see more of the neat 'disco era' personal luxury coupes...remember them quite well from my childhood in the '70s. Revell did a nice job with their Monte Carlo, would have liked to have seen more from that era kitted, like the Grand Am, Grand Prix Can Am, '73 Chevelle SS, Laguna, '76-77 Cutlass Supreme & 442, ;73 Buick Gran Sport, etc..
  9. Yes, forgot about the Chevelle...UPS delivered the Chevelle & 2 of the Novas to me tonight... I'm lovin' the Nova...great detail...the Chevelle is a nice update to an oldie also.
  10. Looking good... I wouldn't be surprised if Revell didn't do a BM Nova as a varation on the new kit, after all, they did BM Corvette and Camaro kits..
  11. Unfortunately, there are no models of the Prius, so we couldn't do the car that is a status symbol on the left...I have a lot of friends that drive them. I'd love to see a full-detail kit of the Prius, it would be fun to use the hybrid powertrain in rods for something different.
  12. Another example is AMT's recent '62 Thunderbird--the 1:1 they used had an aftermarket rubstrip on the sides, IIRC..
  13. Yes!!! I remember seeing a big (1:18th or so) metal Nylint (or Tonka?) toy Winnebago of this style at toy shows in the past. I grew up in an RVing family, we had 4 of 'em over about 15 years, and went camping and drove cross country several times, first with a 22 foot Mobile Traveler Class C (Dodge Sportsman van cab), later a Pace Arrow 25 foot Class A, later a Southwind 28 foot Class A, finally, a Winnebago Chieftain 33 foot Class A. Fun times.
  14. I've seen them on '69 Camaros, but not '70 1/2s.. the 1/25th ones in the AMT '69 Chevelle kit would be ok for the Revell '69 Nova or Camaro, I think.
  15. IIRC, I read somewhere that the Otis Chandler car is the only known, documented '70 B-M Chevelle...kind of a 1 of 1 apparently. Too bad they didn't include the Cragars as an option, since ironically, IIRC, the yellow 'Custom Malibu' version of the Monogram 1:24th Chevelle from the early '80s had Cragars (and sidepipes)..
  16. I hear ya... I'm going to my 20th HS reunion in 2 weeks...should be interesting..I'm about 60lbs heavier than then and shave my head now.. I can't fit in my old U2, Van Halen and Def Leppard t-shirts from then.. But I still have my car from high school--my '87 Mustang GT...only has 63k miles and still has the original paint and looks great. I even toyed w/ the idea of driving it to my reunion, but the car is in Ohio, the reunion in S. Florida, and I live in Phoenix now...
  17. Turned 38 a week ago today. I can't believe I'll be 40 in less than 2 years...I just don't feel that old.
  18. Yes... I have 5 or so of the AMT '72, but I'll get at least that many of the Revell kit...have 2 on order now.
  19. Well, the solid rear axle, etc can always be sourced from one of the '94-96 kits... those are pretty easy to find.
  20. Agreed..there are several I've spent time in over the years andI'll probably still lurk in them, but this has become my favorite site for many reasons. Keep up the good work, Gregg.
  21. That looks great. I want one. Funny, yesterday was my birthday...for my 17th birthday 21 years ago I got a 1:1 '87 Mustang GT. Still have it, after all these years..still like the Fox 'stangs.
  22. My only personal experience in owning a small car was my '84 Ford Escort diesel I had in high school & college.very basic inside, but somewhat fun to drive on the windy, twisty Ohio backroads, drove fine on the freeways and got an amazing 55 mpg when driving back and forth between S. Florida and eastern Ohio. If I got another small car, two that I like are the Mini Cooper S and VW GTI...haven't driven either, but I did ride in a GTI recently and it seemed fun, drove a rental Jetta a few months in Ohio and it was quite nice. I've been driving SUVs for almost 15 years (Ford Bronco II followed by a Grand Cherokee), so going small would be quite a change for me.
  23. Nice Z...I was around them quite a bit in the '80s when my sister was a serial Z owner ('77 280Z, '82 280ZX turbo, '85 300ZX, '90 300ZX turbo). They've always been fun cars.. I had a 350Z rental a couple of years ago in LA and loved it..
  24. Or we will see after the motor law alloy air cars and turbine freights, and the outlaw rebels will drive red barchettas..
  25. I've thought buying a Prius for a commuter car...3 of my coworkers have them, and I know many people back in Denver that have them. My Jeep on a good day gets 19mpg, so I'm spending about $70/week for gas now, which isn't bad, as I was spending $45/week for gas last year. My next new car will probably be something smaller and more efficient...maybe the new diesel Jetta. I don't like really small cars, though, but the Jetta is a reasonable size.
