  1. Man, that is gorgeous Sam! Nice colors.and a great lowered stance. Perfect! Later-
  2. That's looking good Sam! Great to see you finishing up a few of these stalled projects. Now on my way to look at the 41 panel. Later-
  3. I finished this just now. I airbrushed it using a couple of old jars of purple paint I mixed up. Quite possibly HOK and nail polish? Then I misted on some HOK Lime Time pearl around the bottom. I made a stereo head and speakers out of some old scrap PE I had on hand. Also made an antenna out of tubing and a pin. Scrap mirror with a scratched base rounds out the custom parts. A bit of wiring and plumbing for the engine to make it look a bit more finished. Nothing special but a fun little kit to build. Later-
  4. Got it finished this morning. Not a perfect build but it was fun. Headed for Under Glass. Later-
  5. Thank you Brian! Much appreciated. Later-
  6. Thank you everyone! Sam and I got together on Zoom last night and hashed out our next Buddy build. We figured since the Wildcats are a year different then the next builds should be a year different. Mine is the Revell 66 Pontiac GTO and Sam's is the AMT 67 GTO. Now to get Sam's Wildcat boxed up and mailed to him. Later-
  7. Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. Getting very close to finishing this! Just have the exhaust to finish installing. Should be able to get it completed in the next build session. Hopefully by Wednesday. Later-
  8. That is very imaginative and extremely well executed! A perfect build!! Later-
  9. Got these two built ups among some other stuff in a trade with SamIAm. He did not build these but got them at a model show/sale. Pretty cool builds, to me. Later-
  10. Thanks Everybody! We had fun. Later-
  11. Thank you Steve! Much appreciated. I don't know how fun it was for Sam but, although they didn't always go smoothly I enjoyed seeing them progress. I know Sam suggested I was a masochist when I asked him what our next build off subject would be. Later-
  12. Beautiful work and fantastic details. The body and interior paint is perfect! I'd like to have a 1:1 to look jist like this. Later-
  13. SamIAm and I decided back in July to each build a Buick Wildcat in our own style and then send our build to the other to keep in our collection. I started with a bagged rebuilder with a bit of damage and missing parts. What I thought was a 66 Wildcat ended up being a 65 and the parts I got for it were from a 66. Sam started with a complete kit but due to paint issues ended up getting a new body. My build- The blue one: I was going for a 60's concept/ show car so I tried to make the styling look a bit more advanced and futuristic. I modified the custom front grill and rear bumper/taillights to get them to fit the older body. I combined parts from three different hoods and molded in a full length trunk vent from the custom parts of the 66 Mercury (I believe). For the interior I installed 4 bucket seats and a "floating" dash and gauge pod. Paint was a Rustoleum light blue and a white top. Then a coat of Testors White Lightning over all. Sam's build- The white and Maroon one: Sam went more with a stock body but added the custom wheels from the kit (we both liked that option) with some knock offs. Sam stretched his bounds by adding a vinyl roof using masking tape and a styrene trim border. Sam painted his with a beautiful two tone cream body and maroon top. I really like the added maroon rocker panel paint and two tone interior. It really ties the build together. Sam mailed me his build, which I received today. Before I mail mine to him I figured it was a perfect opportunity to do a photo shoot with both of them. Now Sam can chime in with the real tale of these two Wildcats. Later-
  14. Been working on this thing over the last week. I had primed the body months ago and it sat. I had the airbrush and some old paint out the other night. Mixed up a custom shade of purple for the whole body, misted on some HOK Lime Time pearl around the bottom. Added some scrap PE pieces to resemble a stereo head and speakers. Added an antenna with a ball and tried to paint a Rat Fink on it. Failed, but the idea is there. Worked on the engine tonight. I figure I should be done in a few mor bench sessions. Enjoy! Later-
  15. Picked this up today frpm an antique/ vendor mall. Complete and sealed inside. Later-
  16. One beautiful build! I love the colors on it and that you made the botom strip the same as the top to tie them together. Glad you persevered on this! I'll enjoy displaying it. What's our next Buddy build-off?? Later-
  17. Looking great, my friend! The color, wheels and stance make the car outstanding. See you next year for the 24 hr build. Later-
  18. Thank you. Now to figure out WHY I have it and I'll be set. Later-
  19. Anybody have any idea what kit these are for? Later-
  20. I started this over 20 years ago (guessing 2001 or 2002) right after AMT issued their new 60 Starliner kit. It began with a Sketchpad drawing by Jairus Watson. When I saw it I knew I had to build it. I dug this out late last weekend and sorry to say it got stalled so many years ago at the paint stage. Everything else is finished. I am determined to get it done. It ended up with terrible orange peel and I began sanding it down. Then I hit a snag trying to make more realistic hoses for the air induction system. The hoses kept wanting to straighten as they dried and then would crack when I tried bending them into place. I sanded a bit more of the peel and re-filled the sink hole in the roof from the dome light. Today I mixed up some Tamiya X-4 Blue (darker than I wanted, but it will be fine) and airbrushed the body. I see I need to resand the scratches in the roof and shoot another coat on it and the hood. Again, the interior and chassis are done, although I may add a simple roll bar. I used some cigarette foil on the dash since it had the right texture, added a seat from the 64 T-bolt and a resin fire extinguisher with a pull pin I made from fine wire. Engine is from the T-Bolt and my first scratchbuilt headers from solder over 20 tears ago. I'll let the body sit until my next chance at the bench on Wed morning. Then I'll re-sand the roof and spray my final coat. Later-
  21. Thanks Joe. We had a blast! And the snacks are very necessary. Later-
  22. Nice paint selection! Sounds like a good idea with the paint warmer. I use my cup warmwr to put a dish of water on for applying decals. It keeps the water from getting cold and the decals seperate faster. Later-
  23. Got these in the mail today. 59 Caddy ambulance, 59 Caddy Hearse, and a box of 57 Ford parts. Later-
