Special order pickup?

That's cool. This is the first one I've seen in years. I like the look. Later- -
Special order pickup?
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It seems I remember my Agri teacher in high school had a standard cab dually Chevy. It just looks odd in this era of mega, quad, super, extended cab trucks now days. I think I will build it, but I'd like to find a similar year pickup kit. Really don't want to go the resin or die cast route. Not that there is anything wrong with them. Just more comfortable with a kit. Later- -
Got this in the mail today in a trade with Daniel Holt. He also sent the MCG photo etch for it. Thanks Daniel. Now to get at least two more. Later-

I saw this yesterday and wondered if this would have been a special order. I don't recall ever seeing a standard cab dually. I may have before extended cabs and crew cabs became the norm, but it would have been years ago. Anybody know if it would have been a S. O.? Now I want to build one. Later-

I spent most of the day at the dining room table with a buddy of mine working on our models, listening to music and shooting the breeze. I didn't get much done, but had a great time. I got the front bottom corners of the doors rounded and the rear bumper pieced together like I want it. I have to get the bottoms of the rear fenders dialed in and make some taillights now. I also did some more sanding on the bottom rolled edge around the entire car and made some trim extensions in my molds out of pieces of sprue melted in liquid cement. The ones I had made out of 5 min. epoxy broke into little pieces. I also spent a bit of time working on project #2. My buddy got the doors and trunk cut out and sanded and the interior laid out for his 69 GTX. Thanks for looking. Later-

I do like the black stripe as opposed to the grey. More of a contrast. Looking great. Nice engine work. Later-

Looking good. I have always liked the Fujimi and Aoshima selections too. Unfortunately I don't have many of those types of kits. Keep it up. Later-

66 El Camino Cruiser

If it were me I would get some sheet plastic and make the shape you want from the Challenger (??) hood on the El Camino hood. It wouldn't be difficult to mimic that design in sheet plastic. Then you won't ruin the Challenger hood. Later-- 49 replies

Very nice save. I just picked up a kit of this from 1974 that was still sealed inside for $4 at a shop in town. Couldn't pass it up for that price. Nice to see you changed your mind about the rat rod. Later-

I remember those. One of the hs in Anchorage had the Caddy and T-Bird years ago. I should have picked them up back then. I'd love to get the Caddy now. Later-

I'm with you. I love the build but can't handle the theme. I'd rather see it built as a hotel shuttle car from the 50's. Later-

Keeping an eye on this one. I want to see how much it takes to convert it since I've akways thought about doing the same. Later-

Nice work so far. Keep it up. BTW, do you have any info and box photos on that promo? I take it that it was a diecast. I'd like to pick one up and need any info on it. Later-

Nice work so far. I like the work you did on the cammer's front cover. I did some similar work on mine for my 53 Ford but didn't go as far as you. Looking at yours I may gi back and redo mine using yours as a reference. Also, great work on those front body mounts. Too bad they won't be able to be seen clearly in the end. Later-

SMP '59 Corvette 3-in-1 Kit ala Watson, Paint Phase 2!
Modlbldr replied to John Goschke's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, I also want to know what you used for the white to get it to cover the red so well. Later- -
Thanks for the reply. The paint is really beautiful. It's amazing how the silver can really make a paint pop like that. I'm going to try it by using Tamiya Silver leaf under Tamiya Mica blue aftet looking at this build and another where they used Mica red. Thanks again. Later-
