  1. Interesting, but scientifically, the opinion expressed in the song/video is wrong. Since evolution exists, de-evolution does not. According to science, species evolve to improve or adapt to their habitat. Thus, a species can not go backwards. BTW, a person who does not have the glib speaking ability of say, a Bill Clinton or a Ronald Reagan, is not necessarily a dullard. Dr. Hawkings could not speak at all without the aid of technology, but he was arguably the most intelligent person on the planet.
  2. Last night, this forum was downright speedy again. Today? Not so much. It's taking a long time to use.
  3. Will I be able to stick refrigerator magnets to you?
  4. As a member of a club that puts on an NNL event, I have to say that the voting for your favorite theme model or whatever other classes they have really doesn't wander to far from what an NNL is. It's still not judged and it is still low-keyed and a fun thing to do. It really isn't a contest. I enjoy them and all the people that come. I get to meet interesting "nameless luminaries" from all over the region and some outside the region. I feel it's just like the real car shows I attend that have participant voting. Those cars are not really judged to a set criteria, but are selected by individual people who happened to be impressed with one particular car. Of course, there are cruise nights were you just hang out with no voting or judging, but there is always the one car that has the crowd of people around it. Getting the chance to talk with builders and see their work up close is the main point of the NNLs and the voting is just a perk. I rarely have a car on display because I build so infrequently that everyone has seen my cars at one time or another, so I'm in it for the camaraderie. but next year.....
  5. Interesting subject. Why Jada? I would think the others were a bit better in execution. In fact, I didn't know Jada made a Mach 5.
  6. I'm really digging the blue paint, I had a 64 Lesabre in that color.
  7. Where can we get one of those gems?
  8. Very nice! I love the cab over truck.
  9. Nice work so far. It's really something when you can make a model of an actual car. Nice mods. Ever think of taking a Buick kit and modding it to look like your Chrysler 5th ?
  10. Awesome unmarked car. Very similar to our cars in Milwaukee.
  11. I've got to look at this section more often.
  12. Don't know if that car is sunk in the sand, or all the bottom has been rotted away. It does appear to be a Model A of some kind. Don't know if it's good rod material, though.
  13. I was admiring that middle fifties Chevy truck you posted, Raul. Hmmmmm nice....and then it hit me...he put a Corvette cove in there. Subtle but cool! Very nice!
  14. Prolly something there is only one left of or really rare...a Hemi Cuda ragtop?
  15. Thanks, I only could remember the car came from Ohio. I saw it in Milwaukee World Of Wheels.
  16. I would have to mention Hank Borger. Many of his builds in the old Model Car Science and Car Model inspired me to try different things. Ira Dahm as well. I have to add Gary Schmidt, I think without his generosity (giving me back issues of SAE to replace those I lost in a fire) I would not have had as much research and study material. Mark Gustavson for his nice comments on my gentle fun poking of his models in "Model Behavior" funnies. Juha Airo and Gerald Wingrove for showing me the high levels one can ascribe to in this hobby as well as bill Geary.
  17. Time for a little story. I was at a car show last year and like most, really didn't understand the purpose or reason for building a high riding car. I came across a Caprice with a Rolls Royce front grille and headlights. This car was up on high suspension and wheels. The care taker of the car was there and I asked some questions about it. I got to look closely at the workmanship of the chassis, the paint and interior. I was very impressed with it. It was a maroon car that was online and traveled the circuit of car shows. I can't find the car, but, as I said I was really impressed. The build quality was top notch and a lot of money went into it. So Mr. lownslow, don't leave us yet or the hobby. A couple of "nattering nabobs of negativism" shouldn't chase you away.
  18. ...and yet the cars in the background continue to intrigue me. The 72 Riviera, the 77 or so Charger/Magnum/Cordoba in black and gold.
  19. Love that old Ford, but I am intrigued by the gold 75 0r 76 Buick Collonade next to it.
  20. Here is the first Astre. Canada only. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1048082937037328283PLHUhC
  21. Is there a pic to verify the accuracy of that front grille opening? I don't quite remember that look. I would certainly like the full body kit/stock.
  22. This sight is slow, it's always been slow. I just accept it.
  23. I think I pee'd myself and my face hurts from laughing so hard. I have done #148 in preparing for a performance of Kenny Rodger's "I Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In" during a karaoke contest on the stage. Peoples eyes got real big as I popped all those "pills".
