  1. Rear wheel well shape was changed as well in this issue.
  2. What Mark says is true. As you delve into more kits and see how old the actual tooling is, you will understand this. I have been reading Tim Boyd's book on Muscle Car kits and he goes through all the kits in pretty good detail and tells you which are dogs and which are decent and everything in between. Get the book or other material written by people in the know and see what they say. Or....just come here and ask others what their opinion is on anything you might be interested in. That Charger isn't really that bad but is not accurate for a Dukes car but can make a pretty nice model as your skills develop.
  3. Would be easier to see what I'm looking at without that darned photobucket banner across the pics.
  4. I have the issue, haven't read it yet, but I will.
  5. Within limitations, I try and do the best I can do. I like odd stuff which is why I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make a decent model of Trumpeter's Hong Chi CA 770. Redid the suspension, redid the engine. Now I want to make another one because I am not happy with the body as built. Kind of going down the rabbit hole so to speak....and how many Johan Mercedes have I built through the years since the 70s (high school) til now? Or that attempt at making a 69 Beaumont out of a Chevelle. Still working on that and still take it out of the box to fiddle with it...and now I see Revell's new tool Chevelle and think Oh darn, now I have to start over. But it's fun and I like the challenge even though I do not have much time and space to do it. BTW, My boss bought a 1962 Rolls Royce, so I'm also working on a replica of that car. Easy enough to do , right. What with the Minicraft Rolls kit out there...but noooo, his car has the longer wheel base and I cannot just use a Minicraft kit because of the body issues, I have to find a Hubley version of that kit si I can avoid massaging that body at the door to front fender area. Although I did use a Minicraft kit to saw out a 1/4 inch slice to lengthen the Hubely body. Still working on adding the extra quarter window at work during break with the actual car living in the next room. Can't fault good reference material and if that is the actual 1/1, more the better. Point being, it's all fun for me to accept the challenge of learning new skills and technique. Hopefully I get that done before I retire in 8 months...LOL
  6. Compare the Johan body to the similar Monogram kit and you can see the difference in body size. Johan Mercedes IS 1/25 scale.
  7. I ordered the Romanian resin Ford truck body and the MPC 73 Mustang.
  8. What about that older Ford straight truck kit, the cab over.
  9. Question though....What is the base model to put these beauties on?
  10. I had the 69 Wildcat kit. It had a spider web style decal panel that was similar to an SS stripe set up. It wasn't the promo style 70 LeSabre.
  11. Optimist is not what I'd call him...LOL
  12. Nothing remains simple in the model world. I bought some simple but interesting subjects but my mind kicks in with how if I try this.......
  13. Indeed sorry to hear this. I myself have been contemplating when I will lay aside the old X-acto and cap off the glues. Please remain on the forums and comment on other's builds.
  14. If this is anything like Mr Boyd's Muscle car models book, it's going to cause trouble at work. I got so into the book during break that I never heard the buzzer go off and realized 15 minutes later the owner of the company was standing behind me. Wooopsie!
  15. I live in Muskego. Welcome to the site.
  16. I finally got around to reading this. Looking forward to seeing Larry's work in the Mag. Welcome Larry, it's good to see you here.
  17. I'd try one of those TKMs, maybe as a reference. Don't think I'd ever actually build one. It would embarrass my real one.
  18. Someone I know thought it might be the old Revell 1/32nd scale stuff from the old days but with windows.
  19. Yes, for the sister publication Car Modeler, I don't give lessons tho.
  20. I just got an older car for doing cruise nights. It's an 80 Cadillac Seville. Base model but with two tone bronze metallic over beige. Thing is with the base models, they were mostly single color. The dealer upon receiving it off the truck painted the bottom half beige to improve it's looks. Not a fan of beige myself but this really looks nice. Light tan leather/vinyl interior. Wire wheel covers. No vinyl top. Cadillac Climate Control which works but I will have to recharge and retrofit the AC. I put new white walls on it. Things I have to do on it are replacing the gas struts for the hood and trunk, bumper fillers and tail lamp panel. The original rubber ones have broken up and are secreting some kind of odd sweat. I ordered the new ones and they will be made of fiberglas. Comes with a AM/FM/CB/8 Track radio that still works. It is a diesel powered car but that engine was replaced with a later Goodwrench diesel and new transmission at 30000 miles. The history of the vehicle...original owner purchased this for his wife while he bought himself a Sedan DeVille. This man was the owner of the company I work for. He passed away some years ago and his wife rarely drove it. The son (my current boss) bought the car and used it sparingly and it resided in his collection of cars. I was looking for a car to play with and mentioned I had X amount to spend on a collector car. This Cadillac was mentioned and I looked at it. Loved it and I bought it. Could use a good detailing in the inside but is still pretty nice. I want this to remain stock with some unseen mods. Basically the AC being redone with 134a refrigerant, the radio to be boosted in wattage and the old speakers replaced with newer versions that will handle the extra watts...nothing too radical...think of a factory sound system on a modern Cadillac but sight unseen. Also want to make a removable center console finished to match the interior colors to hold drinks and other oddments people carry in their car. Also might consider the Redi-Rad so I can add a portable CD player or a phone to play music. This car has less than 70000 miles on it and rides like a dream.
  21. So I'm finally getting thatSoviet Chaika Limousine?
  22. I pretty much gave Steve the benefit of the doubt, but after all these years I think we won't see anything. I would suggest that everyone that bought or invested in one should print out that list and maybe banding together and get a suit initiated.
