Round 2 purchased by an investment firm
lordairgtar replied to charger74's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, this looks like more of a capital infusion than anything else. The Star Wars license and the retool of a few model kits costs money. Some of us may not care for Star Wars and Star Trek but it is a big seller. -
I hope the little nova will have the stock hood too.

Looked at a friends Norinco hand gun. I shook it and everything rattled. Norinco was the Chinese copy of a Soviet gun. He had it just for the grins.

I kinda have an idea. These could also be done off other tools that already exist. How about Canadian versions of the popular muscle car kits we already get. Just by adding the specific Canadian parts into the kit would effectively increase kits sold and different versions could be built. I know Model Car Garage has some photo etch bits included with their series of muscle car sets like the 69 Chevelle and the Nova. Ford Mercury pickups would be relatively easy too as it was just a badge and name change to Mercury in the 60s. 50s and 40s might be a bit harder because some other trims were unique.

Indeed, I have been working for Custom Wire Industries since 1991 and I have taken home bits and bobs from work. With the boss' permission of course. From wire (Obvi!) to mesh screen to sheet plastic to coax cable, which after removing the outer shield makes awesome braided hose for custom cars and racers. Diodes and resistors, LEDs, Xuron cutters which after they lose their sharpness still make awesome spru cutters without having to buy them at $15 or so a pop.

Auto Union C by Fernando Pinto Portugal
lordairgtar replied to 89AKurt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That may or may not be true. A lot of companies are choosing to manufacture in the US now. I'm involved in manufacturing and our company does jobber work for major companies. We have gotten a lot of work that formally was in China. We do mostly circuit board and wiring work plus a little bit of molding.- 18 replies

lordairgtar replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I got my book last week and I am starting to read it at work during breaks. Pretty good so far. I got it from Midlife Classic Cars.com. It was the cheapest seller. $32.50. -
1/24 Heller Renault Estafette
lordairgtar replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Athough AMC sold the R5 as the Le Car, it was nowhere close to a Pacer. Whole different car. There was a bit of a joke here in the US that Renault could sell the Pacer calling it the The Voiturette. -
So cool.

"Holy Grail" Models?
lordairgtar replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had this kit when it came out. I remember getting the smart idea to actually put some kind of oil in the clear oil pan. Engine had a crankshaft, pistons and looked pretty decent. I used vegetable oil but my skills then made it impossible to glue an oil filled part to a already painted engine block...oh live and learn. I'd like another crack at it, minus the oil. LOL -
