  1. If this is anything like Mr Boyd's Muscle car models book, it's going to cause trouble at work. I got so into the book during break that I never heard the buzzer go off and realized 15 minutes later the owner of the company was standing behind me. Wooopsie!
  2. I live in Muskego. Welcome to the site.
  3. I finally got around to reading this. Looking forward to seeing Larry's work in the Mag. Welcome Larry, it's good to see you here.
  4. I'd try one of those TKMs, maybe as a reference. Don't think I'd ever actually build one. It would embarrass my real one.
  5. Someone I know thought it might be the old Revell 1/32nd scale stuff from the old days but with windows.
  6. Yes, for the sister publication Car Modeler, I don't give lessons tho.
  7. I just got an older car for doing cruise nights. It's an 80 Cadillac Seville. Base model but with two tone bronze metallic over beige. Thing is with the base models, they were mostly single color. The dealer upon receiving it off the truck painted the bottom half beige to improve it's looks. Not a fan of beige myself but this really looks nice. Light tan leather/vinyl interior. Wire wheel covers. No vinyl top. Cadillac Climate Control which works but I will have to recharge and retrofit the AC. I put new white walls on it. Things I have to do on it are replacing the gas struts for the hood and trunk, bumper fillers and tail lamp panel. The original rubber ones have broken up and are secreting some kind of odd sweat. I ordered the new ones and they will be made of fiberglas. Comes with a AM/FM/CB/8 Track radio that still works. It is a diesel powered car but that engine was replaced with a later Goodwrench diesel and new transmission at 30000 miles. The history of the vehicle...original owner purchased this for his wife while he bought himself a Sedan DeVille. This man was the owner of the company I work for. He passed away some years ago and his wife rarely drove it. The son (my current boss) bought the car and used it sparingly and it resided in his collection of cars. I was looking for a car to play with and mentioned I had X amount to spend on a collector car. This Cadillac was mentioned and I looked at it. Loved it and I bought it. Could use a good detailing in the inside but is still pretty nice. I want this to remain stock with some unseen mods. Basically the AC being redone with 134a refrigerant, the radio to be boosted in wattage and the old speakers replaced with newer versions that will handle the extra watts...nothing too radical...think of a factory sound system on a modern Cadillac but sight unseen. Also want to make a removable center console finished to match the interior colors to hold drinks and other oddments people carry in their car. Also might consider the Redi-Rad so I can add a portable CD player or a phone to play music. This car has less than 70000 miles on it and rides like a dream.
  8. So I'm finally getting thatSoviet Chaika Limousine?
  9. I pretty much gave Steve the benefit of the doubt, but after all these years I think we won't see anything. I would suggest that everyone that bought or invested in one should print out that list and maybe banding together and get a suit initiated.
  10. Here is a walk around video of the truck.
  11. I am going to agree with you. There was no collaboration between Chrysler and the Chinese, but they did have access to an old Chrysler car. They cribbed a lot of details from the Mopar. One thing is (and this I got from a friend in China) that they did copy the older 318 polysphere V8. I was researching the car at that time as I acquired a Trumpeter kit of the CA770. I built mine and used a lot of different parts to complete it. I used front and rear suspension from a Chevy S10 (looked better) in 1/20th scale from Lindberg as the CA 770 is a big vehicle. I used the Ford engine from the Otaki T-Bird kit and filed off the Ford script on the valve covers. Looked much better than the lump of chrome the Trumpeter kit's engine was. I'd like another crack at one as I have another Trumpeter kit and a clone of that kit by some other maker. Can't remember the name off hand.
  12. Can't imagine that going on in Bourbonnais. Of course it's been years since I lived there.
  13. Nope, not what I meant. Most of these modellers never put on the uniform. Not a fan of seeing WWII German artillery, aircraft and other equipment emblazoned with swastikas. I support the people who defend us. I should have been clearer.
  14. Does anyone make a 1980 Cadillac Seville bustleback sedan? I just bought the real one and I'd like to build a model of it.
  15. I was saddened to hear this. I knew about SAE when it first came out and bought every one starting in California and after my move to Milwaukee in 1984. Gary Schmidt was so wonderful and genuine to me. I told him about my house burning down in Santa Barbara and losing everything, and he gave me every issue from #2 on forward all the way to 1984. He only had one copy of #1 and he kept that. I could always stop by the offices whenever I was around. I don't think the FSM mag will include more than a page or two about model cars, most of that mag is devoted towards the war monger set.
  16. Got a 1969 Charger by Nonogram in 1/32nd scale. Assembled but not painted. Glue was pretty heavy and the interior won't come out. Chrome is good and easily popped out. I think the glass is toast but that is easily remedied. Got the frame out but it cracked near the front. Luckily I happened to have a sppare chassis in green. The new one is orange.
  17. I just got a Resin Chrysler Charger VH from Australia. Casting is rougher than a cob but I think I can make it work. Very thick casting and lots of flash. Don't know who made it but I wanted one bad so I bought it.
  18. What I love about this is that it has a non SS grille and hood.
  19. Never saw the green. A model company made a black one in HO scale and I had seen a blue one but can't find the pic.
  20. That was probably it. I remember when my work/home got set afire, the owner of that LHS gave me a couple model cars, some paints and glue and a Scale Auto which was the first time I heard of that mag. When I moved back to Milwaukee, I stopped in and visited with Gary Schmidt and he gave me a bunch of mags from issue 1 to the then current issue.
