  1. As far as gas is concerned, it kind of was a perfect storm this year. Seasonal change of the formulation, Covid, a refinery in Texas being damaged in a storm all contributed to the recent fluctuations in price. Nothing to do with shutting down a pipeline or the party in power. I've noticed in our area two companies are watching each other and setting price accordingly. Jetz, a local company recently bought by an east coast fuel/convenience store, and Kwik Trip, a Wisconsin company with stores in WI, IA (Kwik Star), watch each other and change prices to align themselves to the local market. When KT raises prices, Jetz will follow and the drop in price results in the same. Generally the supplier of the fuel dictates the price and calls the store head office and tells them what the price will be. If I see the high end at these gas stations, I just wait about four days or so and the price will drop about 10 cents.
  2. This guy keeps reposting this thing. Never gets any bids. What was that called when you keep doing the same thing expecting different results? https://www.ebay.com/itm/224440328211?hash=item3441afa013:g:qucAAOSwW5dgKr4O
  3. I built a few of the old tool 57 Chevy. The ONLY thing that bothered me was that the chrome trim in front is supposed to be attached to the hood and not to the rest of the grille surround.
  4. Particle board. Worst stuff ever. Real wood for me, plus it's a hella lot lighter to move around.
  5. And notice the 1960 Buick headlight nacelles.
  6. My grandfather had a 69 Skylark Custom two door hard top he bought new. Light metallic green with a black vinyl top, beige interior. His connections with Flint got him a GS but without any of the GS script or hood bulge. Air induction was under the bumpers. He liked unassuming cars with big power. I had always thought it was the best looking midsize GM made for 68-69 model years. I later bought a 69 Buick Special DeLuxe two door coupe with a 350 2bbl later changed to a 4bbl carb. Good luck on the attempt to recreate it. I know the Perry and the JJ versions had issues in the design with Perry's being the better of the two. The rear trunk and bumper swallow tail shape will be difficult. The only way I am getting one would be to recreate one myself but I do not know if my skills are up to it.
  7. Pretty darned interesting.
  8. Yes, the design of the Pontiac's nose is front heavy.
  9. I agree. Looking for precedent? A British cab was made into a kit. Why not Checker? If they choose to model it and put the Continental engine in it, there are plenty of sources for Chevy engines to do post 64-65 versions. If they do the Chevy version, the Heller kit of the Fergie tractor has the Continental engine.
  10. It's actually a quartet. You forgot the Daewoo G2X
  11. Yes, I thought I seen the hatch somewhere, but nothing showed on my end for research. I remember I was walking down the street past a Chevy dealer in Santa Maria, California and these cars had just come out. I noted how much I liked the Monza type grille on the Vega body much better than the cheese slicer grille it had the year before. Thanks for refreshing my memory.
  12. Got my Model Cars magazine today. Nicely done. I have to say that Larry Greenberg did a yeoman's job writing the reviews of all those kits. Very well written and very well detailed. Larry got me interested in buying the two Chevies (MCSS and the Fire Chief 70 Chevy) even though I had no real interest in them and the Land Rover and the Firebird as well. Talking to the wife about it and she just shook her head. About Grumpy's racer, when Larry mentioned the Monza grille on the earlier issue of the Vega kit, Larry said that that car was not quite accurate, and he is correct. I do know that Chevy offered a Monza wagon model with that very grille using the same body as the earlier Vega, just not on the coupes or hatches.
  13. This Japanese example has the perspex cover, plus side marker lights are of a different style. https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-trp-001&ei=UTF-8&hsimp=yhs-001&hspart=trp&p=z28e&type=Y195_F163_198833_033121#id=1&vid=02b5d25b0f72d9717756b4cdebd2cd6c&action=click
  14. I see in the advert that the car has perspex covers over the headlamps.
  15. Haven't seen mine yet. Probably being punished for living in Wisconsin...home of the late great SAE.
  16. What do you publish? I notice you are in Wisconsin.
  17. They did release a Corvette.
  18. I want to complete the long wheelbase Rolls Royce from the Hubley/MiniCraft 62 Rolls kit to replicate a car my boss owns, Start work on the Howmet from the two glue bomb cars and the CanAm roadster kits. Continue trying to make Canadian versions of the Ford Trucks and Chevelles and Novas. I really like the Beaumonts and the Acadians. I may attempt to make a stab at Meteors and Canadian Ford cars too. I have a 1/12 scale Cord I want to start this year as well....and so much more!
  19. OK, I really wanna know....How do I pronounce the word geegaws?
  20. As an automotive artist, I have to say that the drawing is definitely off on this one. The rear doors are short. The far side seems low to the ground like they are sitting on flat tires too. I understand perspective but these are just bad. I think the same artist did the little Chevy stake truck as well with the wrong body style cab. I might just draw up these cars and send them to Atlantis.
  21. We had a couple of Mercury dealers here that really sold the heck out of those so they were fairly common here. I see a few at shows these days. I remember the little two seat 90s Capri that was made in Australia and it was sold here. I did side work for Uptown Lincoln Mercury and everyone who bought from Uptown got a hand drawn ink and pencil art work of the car they bought. I did a few of those little two seaters. Uptown was also the local Bentley dealer and I drew two Bentleys in the two years I did that art for them.
  22. Got this bad boy today and I was the only bidder at 46 bux with 8 bux shipping....SCORE!!!
