Curious on what I have here
lordairgtar replied to fun9c1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The windsheild on the 32 Ford roadster came from a 1/32nd scale car, probably Lindberg's old Lincoln kit. -
on April 12, the 22nd NNL Milwaukee will be held at the Excellence Center in Waukesha N4 W22000 Bluemound Road. 3 to 9 PM email mdowd@rr.com or scottiek1@charter.net for info

I worked in a plastic molding factory before my time at Custom Wire. The shop was spotless. Those old JoHan pics look like they never introduced Mrs Floor to Mr. Mop.

I can hardly wait for these. I already have the Opel.

I work in a factory that makes wiring harnesses. I'm the only male on the floor. Women can multi task which means they can inspect parts and build and sort at the same time. Has nothing to do with getting them to work cheap. I am the longest employed worker and thusly I make more, but my female supervisor makes more than me. They all start at the same wage, get the same bennies and have the same oportunity for raises. A lot of the stories you hear about women getting less pay is because of averages. Most women occupy service jobs like wait staff, barrista work, maids and things like that. In industry, they are pretty much equal, especially in union plants. Women execs can and do make as much as men.

Good job on the Birkie, Cal. In other news, I wish I could have gone to Dupage. I had to stay in West Allis and be at the World Of Wheels for our car club. Random meet up yesterday with Lou Gramm from Foreigner. Nice guy.

Revell announces new line of snap kits

It would be interesting to see them do a hot rod kit just to see their take on it. -

Revell announces new line of snap kits

Although I have a limited income, I never balked at the AM and Galaxie prices. I own three AM Vettes and two and one half Galaxie Chevys. I saved up, then bought them. When the Meng Ford kit comes out, I will buy that one as well, regardless of cost. I even have the pricey ICM Opel. Funny how people who complain about these choices are also the first to jump up on the Tamiya (or whatever Japanese company) band wagon over what are essentially expensive curb sides (with exceptions of course) and sing to high heaven their praises. -
Pretty much true, Carl, but what can one do. We don't know who the outside vendor was, and I'm sure according the owners of said tooling would think it was none of our business. Only thing we can hope for is for a big storage trailer be found with a whole selection of these by-gone kits. Now wouldn't that be something......"on our next episode of Storage Wars, one of the bidders gets a trailer full of JoHan kits still sealed".

definition of a rat rod
lordairgtar replied to retroguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Which is why the NSRA has safety inspectors set up and major shows like NSRA and GoodGuys and the WSRA Corn Roast. They look at them and tell you what you need to look at, cuz sometimes one doesn't know that a problem is there. Now let's just kill the thread. Kill it! Kill it with fire! -
Model Empire put a T-Bird NASCAR kit with no decals in a plain white box with black graphics. The idea was to buy aftermarket decals and build your kit the way you wanted it.

Very nice car. More pics from the rear would really be nice. I'm working on a stock version.

I've been workin on a Kamback Firebird and I put an older style nose on it from a revell 1/24th scale 1970 Trans Am kit. I tried doing the same putting a camaro nose on one of my Airfix versions of this kit but it never looked right. If I had the Camaro version, I'd still have to replace that mal formed nose.

That is one of my favorite cars ever. I had a 69 Special DeLuxe, and my Grandfather had when new a 69 Skylark Custom. Both 350 equipped. I would never have left mine unseen for over 10 years. Just sayin'. Too bad about the car though. Not really many of them left as Chevelles and Cutlasses and GTOs found more favor with the restorers and collectors.

Are the add on tail lights from the kit? or were they from something else. They look like truck tail lights.

World Of Wheels
lordairgtar replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, that's what I'm hoping. Luckily I got my tax money back yesterday and I can afford it. I just would rather spend it buying models (really?) and things I / we need. -
World Of Wheels

OK, I understand what you were getting at, Moparfan1. Thanks again. I'm getting ready for the show with my table and chairs and the flyers and forms I need. I have to be there all three days plus Thursday load in. That is 96 bux for two people and the 15 bux it will cost me to park. $111 before food costs are figured in. Luckily I can come and go and use local restaurants in the area. Hopefully we are seeing a warm up with 43 degrees on Thursday. -
What do you drive?

I wish VW would send those to the US. No more HHR Panel production from Chevy and the Ford Transit Connect is just too darned ooogly. We have two 2013 Jettas in the family and they are great cars.
