  1. But what is shipping cost. I couldn't determine that.
  2. So John Abbot promises to work with Toyota to keep them in Australia? So what did he do for Holden and Ford? Not a damned thing apparently.
  3. The steamer was stock. Looked like a Case. The John Deere was modified and it's torque band was changed. I'll bet if the JD was stock, it would have fared better against the steamer. Still would have been beat, but it would have taken longer.
  4. Sometimes the brick and mortar can augment the internet and vice a versa. I went to a newer LHS in Oak Creek near Milwaukee to check it out. Basically an armor, military, aircraft store; they had a limited selection of kits for cars. They did have some 1/32nd scale Airfix kits that one does not see much of. I saw some 1/35th scale ICM kits of cars! I knew they also are marketing 1/24th scale autos from the WWII era. I took this opportunity to order an Opel Admiral kit in 1/24th as he did not have it in stock...so I let him do the ordering and also reaped the black Friday discount which got me this kit for $50. It normally is going at $59 or thereabouts. Yes, I could have gone on line and did it myself, but would not have seen this discount and still would have to come up with shipping costs. If a LHS does not offer to order things for you that do not stock, then those are the ones who will not do well. I know my tastes are obscure. I had one other place order my Trumpeter Hong Qi limousine Car Of State for me. They did. They would have never stocked this car because of the limited appeal.
  5. The Lovely Lori decided she did not want to drive this morning so I got to take the HHR to work. Holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH!!! BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH traction control is crazy weird. I found I could drive better with it off than on. BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH brakes kept clicking on and off trying to find bite on the road. Turned it off and drove rally style to work. Much better when I have control. Not much snow, but icy.
  6. At least he didn't say "shovel ready"
  7. And you can thank the treasonous Cash For Clunkers program for that.
  8. Tosh is an idiot. The Last Place comment is undeserving. Rarely has she been in last place. There are generally 10 to 15 drivers behind her every race but they are never made fun of because they are guys and we all know those guys are better than Danica....NOT. And she is very pretty to my eyes. Love her smile.
  9. I live near a city with several Walmarts, KMarts, Targets, ad nauseum. We also have two big LOCAL hobby shops and they thrive. We have some specialty shops for the train guys and the armor guys. They do well. They all offer help, places to have contests, keep shelves stocked with cool things, not afraid top special order, offer discounts to clubs, support clubs and loaners alike, and some have an internet presence. Yes, one store closed, but it had bad stock, bad attitudes behind the counter, stupid pricing structure and trashy dirty unkempt stores with wet floors and odors. I can't speak to your experience, but I know what's going on here in Milwaukee, and it's awesome. I will continue to support local biz when possible. When I go to our shops, even just to look around, I am greeted like an old friend. With a combine Metro area encompassing Milwaukee and Waukesha counties , we have over 2 million people, so you can see just how many big stores we have, but the locals can hold their own. I think in regards to WalMart, they had limited choices where the independent stores had variety, service, and smiles. I mean, you never found Tamiya or Hasegawa model or Floquil paints or different adhesives besides the ubiquitous orange tube of Testors, AMT and Revell kits and Testor's paints....and not much of those in any meaningful numbers.
  10. nice.
  11. Both builds are awesome.
  12. I'm just amazed at your creativity here.
  13. That reminds me of my old GFs car from my hippie days.
  14. Really cool. I could never get those clips to attach when I was a kid.
  15. Nice. I'll bet that engine is a torque monster.
  16. Nicely done. Understated color, but you know it means business with the scoop and spoiler.
  17. I like your take on this iconic American car.
  18. Truly an awesome model of a great car. Thanks for the color choice too.
  19. I'll use both depending on the kit. I can always drop a bit of clear Elmers glue on them to give them the appearance of having a lens. The thing I hate is seeing a wash of white and grey on a chrome headlight. It looks like someone dirtied the lights.
  20. Grand Prix was awesome. Milwaukee had only one of those 70mm curved screen houses, The Southgate. Long gone as well as the shopping center it was in off the same name. My dad took me to it.
  21. Or Craigslist from Quincy to St Louis
  22. Laptop. Something she's wanted.
  23. I had a GT when I was in California. A yellow one I had painted black. The body was built by the French firm Lotz & Brossonneau, a builder of Locomotives, plus the Renault Floride.
  24. It really is, and doesn't make the bike look like something was added as an afterthought.
