  1. Yeah I'm excited for the build. The kit is already built, but I painted the chassis/engine/drivetrain lowrider-style (gold, silver, chrome)...guess I was in a lowrider phase! Of course the exterior looks stock though, so it's kinda odd. I'm going to have my brother take some pics tomorrow of how it sits now. Oh yeah, when I was building it I accidentally painted the turn signals and back up lights on the lower half of the taillight. I threw them in some paint thinner to remove the paint, but I left them too long and they disintegrated, so I had to make my own out of a couple pieces of clear plastic. Course they suck, so I'm going to fab some new "lenses" out of sheet styrene, and cover them over with some clear nail polish, which I can then color to look like lenses. Edit: here's how it will approximately look:
  2. Fixed the picture! I do like the look of the Lincoln meshes, especially with the black centers.
  3. Found the wheels I'm going to use! I want to give it a modified look with aftermarket wheels, but don't want the drag look (Centerlines) or the generic muscle/pony car look (Torque-Thrusts) and I ended up finding the 19" Volk GTCs.
  4. I'm a Chevy guy, I admit it! Don't shoot! I just glanced at pictures on Google, and didn't really notice a difference. As I said above, how much of a difference is it at small scale?
  5. Would it make much of a difference at small scale though, especially if it's covered by the engine accessories/wires/hoses?
  6. IMO they look pretty much the same. They have the same distributor placement, so they could pass for one another.
  7. RE: host club members What about having a category for the club members only? Since they are providing the trophies, they could choose the sort of trophy, or "trophy", that would be for the club winner. They could either go with a huge trophy, a small trophy, or just something completely random for fun. Since the members would know each other well, it would be more interesting to compete against each other.
  8. You should throw the participant list into your first post, so it's easier to find, and people will see it right when they start the thread.
  9. I have the brochure from '88 which has all three interiors in it. Here it is for anyone who wants it: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/ford/88ftruck/88ftruck.html
  10. The 4WD Single Cab conversion is exactly what I'm doing! I have a thread going on the "on the workbench" section, but since I'm finishing up this semester I haven't had time to work on it. I'll be able to start again in about a week though. For the 4WD conversion, I'm using the front end from the '81 AMT Bronco, with some spare leaf springs (since it's going to be an F-250). You can use the AMT, or Revell/Monogram made a version as well, but with one piece for the front suspension where the AMT version has it in separate pieces.
  11. How come you posted this again? Or did you forget you already started a thread?
  12. Yeah, I plan on building a stock black Cobra, with some performance upgrades and different wheels.
  13. Make sure the ragtop is down so his hair can blow!
  14. I'm in too. I think you should have the start date be beginning of May, or at least beginning of June for those that want to/can start earlier. I'll be building the Revell 1993 Mustang Cobra
  15. Probably some form of a Chevy small-block, due to the rear mounted distributor. Of course, you'd have to wonder how much torque-steer that thing has! Edit: Just looked up the 360 and it has a rear-distributor also, which would make more sense for in a Dodge.
  16. You're probably right, I just saw this brochure page and it's somewhat blurry, but it looks like the 2WD F250 LD has it mentioned as having 6 holes (6 lug nuts). (where it says "wheels: type/rim size") http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/ford/88ftruck/bilder/15.jpg Or am I just seeing things?
  17. I would suggest searching "Building and Detailing" on Amazon.com. There are several books there which were written by members of this board. I myself have "Building and Detailing Scale Model Trucks".
  18. Looks pretty sweet! Those wheels are perfect and I'm glad you went with the black hood. The only thing I hate about that kit is the taillights that come with it. They just don't look right for some reason...
  19. I agree that stacks are played out, but that would be the 4-5" stacks that you see on every other truck. I see nothing wrong with a set like the ones on the L'il Red Express with the heat shields on them.
  20. I think that will look awesome as a model. The only thing I don't like is the wood bedsides. It would look better with painted steel bedsides and the stakes.
  21. I think it's more like tough love. Granted what he said in the engine stand thread may seem somewhat mean, but sometimes your thoughts don't type out quite as well as in your head. I think it's just the fact that Harry is frank with his comments and doesn't dance around the issue.
  22. Yeah, Modelmartin pointed it out earlier. It used to be $700 though.
