  1. That;s looking good! My favorite subject is the cars I have owned.
  2. I've searched for many years for a tool that would make drilling a hole centered in a circular rod, or headlight as you are. I even started the question here, though I can't find that one. I've settled on using a set of brass tubes that allows me to have the outer tube that will surround the outer rod diameter and the close fit inner brass tubes that go down the an ID the same as the drill bit used to drill the hole. a few links I did find ...
  3. I have looked for the same with little luck as I find myself trying to drill holes in the end of small rods. I use a series of brass rods with the smallest the size of the drill bit and the outer to center on the rod.
  4. Nicely done. I get jealous of everyone that finishes the BMF on these!
  5. The engine bay wiring looks spectacular ... and realistic!
  6. Oh, my bad. Somehow missed that. Was my first thought on how to make it
  7. That's pretty cool. Now, you're going to have to tell us how you made that!
  8. A paver just off the job ... covered with bituminous! Weathering is pretty cool if you just consider how it all got there. For rust and such I just consider where it would collect water and how long it's been out there. Just thinned washes run down the model like rain and the thinness of the wash lets you apply in many light coats. Asphalt would be thicker, maybe black wash with fine sand mixed in. I'd try an India Ink wash and sand ... maybe would need a little Elmers glue for stickiness.
  9. Got this WIP all fixed for photos on Fotki
  10. Updated photo links to Fotki
  11. Every time I look at this I see something new. What is the front Logo? ... how about a close shot of it? And the Mustang on the inside video monitors .. eheh
  12. This is one of the best custom VW busses I've seen. Wheels and engine and the interior are just right and wonderfully built!
  13. I have gotten that less shiny surface. I find I have to apply slowly and with a good flow. I have gone over those duller areas they came back to sparkle.
  14. The gear grease surprised me ... cool! It all came out looking great. I didn't realize the hauler was so old that you showed in the WIP. The whole setup deserves a shelf at your shop as I believe your customers will appreciate it.
  15. Color surprise! Why did I have green in my head ... yellow looks great. My driveway needs work, will that handle a 40% grade?
  16. I like em both, but that Beach Rat just tugs at my heart!

    '77 Porsche 924

Maybe you'll get me back on my Porsches if you start a thread eheh I had to sacrifice a 924 for my dashboard.
  18. Quite beautiful!
  19. I do have some new paint but haven't put it on yet. This post was just to move everything to Fotki.
  20. Did a photo update for move to Fotki
  21. Got a Fotki update but don't know when I'll get back on this one. I did add some new photos at least.
  22. This is the first of five Porsche 924/944's I owned. The suspension is the first thing I look at when purchasing a car and these felt like they were designed just for me. They were so neutral they made everyone look like a race driver. This one was a mule for Callaway Turbos and it had a water cooler added that kept temps down. The exhaust manifold was cherry red when it was up to operating temperature! The problem was, it melted the spark plug wires that were next to the manifold and I had to get wires direct from Callaway. It just jumped when the turbo kicked in, around 3000 rpm. The interior had black seats with a red plaid fill, like a VW GTI. The dash was an olive drab green, the weirdest interior I'd even seen I believe it was a Monogram kit I built it from and it had correct wheels. I was just getting back into model building when I did this so it's not up to my current standards, one reason it was completed! I lost the gas cap and looks like a license plate and front reflectors could be added. Only a few old photos of the 1:1, this one with my daughter who learned to drive on my Porsche's.
  23. This was very interesting. When I got back into modeling in the '90's I did a Porsche 924, replicating the 1:1 I had and am positive I used the Monogram.
  24. I don't know why I can't replace the photos in the last post. It says I can't find the thread when I Save, but I did edit and save the posts before it. I even tried copying the full post before trying to save and pasted it in a new post .. gives a 404 error saying it cant find the post. edit: that text post did save, so here's the photos for the previous post:
