  1. I could certainly handle additional duties if a Bumpside is at stake.
  2. The Chevelle and the Falcon are kind of stalled. Could the third time be the charm? Yeah, I know me building a Hudson Hornet seems kind of weird, but still. So far I have added the tubs and rear frame/suspension from a Revell '67 Chevelle. The front tires and inner wheels are also from that kit, but I used the wheels from a Monogram '37 Ford street rod. I kept the stock suspension up front and modified the spindles to lower the nose a bit.
  3. Why not? Looks like it worked out pretty well.
  4. How do I get that job? Really- that would be awesome. Not only having a Bumpside kit, but having a Bumpside kit months before anybody else.
  5. What he said.... '66 or '67 model in particular.
  6. I've got another six on the burner, and it's another Hudson. Stumbled across this one fine evening... So... I robbed the supercharger from an MPC Fire Truck, and modified the Hudson manifold to fit it. The v-belt, pulleys, and blower drive are old Machined Aluminum Specialties bits I've had lying around for a while. Same story for that alternator bracket- it's from the long-gone Detail Resources. The blower belt is about twice as thick as I'd like it to be, but I'm using it anyway. So there. There is also a blower idler, carved from a strip of styrene, and eventually this will wear one of my signature finned heads and sport an MSD ignition setup. Be advised that this particular setup not only doesn't clear the hood of a stock Hornet, but it also won't fit with the radiator in its stock home, either. But that's fine, I want to put this in a hot rod with no hood. I have no idea what kind of vehicle it is going into...
  7. He posted here as LUKE'57, for those of you newer members. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showuser=2378
  8. I'll be doing likewise- the drag version was the first I head of. Even if that never comes, methinks I can use this as the basis for a decent 10.5 drag car.
  9. And the truck itself is a 10th-gen F-series, those have been out of production for nine years now.
  10. Hopefully it's a leather hat- they cut easier with a serrated knife than a fabric hat. I'd rather not discuss how I came across this little tidbit...
  11. I feel the same way- I'm not worthy to hang out with the cats in this book!
  12. Oh, how many times I've told myself that same sweet, sweet lie. For some reason that mockup reminds me of a '59 I saw at St. Ignace last year-
  13. I have only one gripe about this kit- AMT only would have needed to add a second pair of skinny tires for a three in one kit- stock, custom or drag... just like in the glory days. I know a proper set of stock tires is just a trip to the parts box away for 99% of us, but still! That aside, it's a good kit and a good one to have back even if they sort of replaced the stock building option with a drag version.
  14. I've had good luck with the Krylon 'Glowz' paint. It comes in 6oz spray cans and sells in the neighborhood of six to eight bucks, depending on where you get it. I've seen it in some department stores in the craft section, and most well stocked hobby shops should have it, or at least be able to order it for you. Stock number is 3150.
  15. Nice all around.
  16. Probably just Fotki randomly changing the URLs again.
  17. Rough and mean. I love it.
  18. Buick, Olds, and Cadillac... or could that possibly be a Studebaker? NOW we're talkin'. That reminds me... was there ever a kit of the Little Deuce Coupe in the second pic? Because there really should have been.
  19. Just plain lovely, and I'm not just saying that because I'm fond of IH trucks.
  20. Love the direction this one's going! Can't get enough of rat rods with artillery wheels and unusual engines. I think "The Man Upstairs" by Voltaire might fit, too. I won't post a link to the song or anything because of some language, but it's a hillarious song in a twisted kind of way.

  22. I think it was some guy who worked for Revell in the late '70's... for a VERY short period. Maybe the intern who got coffee for the engineering staff or something. They dropped the practice pretty quickly, but unfortunately they still reiusse many of the kits that way.
  23. If you ask me, just the brake backing plates and suspension pieces make this kit worth buying. The rest of the kit's nice (other than that grille that gets wider toward the bottom), but those parts in particular are very well done. Just a pity that the frame is molded in with the fender unit.
