Finished just now after about two weekends worth of spare time. Well, the equivalent of two weekends of spare time... spread out over half a year! Might be the last one for this year off my workbench. The idea is an 'in-progress' driver- one day the car will wear a shiny coat of Sublime Green to match the wheels and interior, but in the meantime it'll just rock the primer. Over the last few months as the car was shuffled on and off the workbench, a few scrapes and blemishes appeared in the finish. Let's just call that road rash. The basic kit is mostly box stock, lowered using the lowered suspension pieces in the kit combined with some selective trimming and grinding where needed to get it even lower, but powered by a Kitchen Table Resins 226 Ford Flathead six with a few speed parts.

I'd say you went with quality over quantity this year. I like it.

Not a big fan of Christmas-themed stuff, but even this Scrooge is digging it.

I actually built this about four years ago, but I just found some decent photos of it in my Fotki's 'runoff' folder (where all the stuff I'm too lazy to sort after uploading ends up). It's the Prestige Series kit, with the wheels and tires from a Revell '91 Firebird and some of the AMT parts pack pieces on the engine.

Still, somebody should build that.

I hope that leftover house paint wasn't latex- it wouldn't last five minutes on a vehicle.

That's actually the first Hubley '32 Chevy kit I've seen built up. Looks like you modified it just a little. I like it. The '48 Coupe is finally done- I'm just waiting for daybreak so I can shoot a couple of photos.

Ah, yes... for some reason I thought they'd planned to build 500 a year, not 500 total. Even though I just read the article and saw that the last one was #500 of 500. Now... wonder what if anything Toyota is planning as a follow up?

This is a dead ringer for the '86 version my buddy Matt had in high school. Well, a dead ringer for how his car would have looked new anyway! Very nice conversion.

How can something that's basically just a big box look so cool? I don't know, but it's possible. I'm definitely getting one of these now, but I can only hope mine will turn out as well as yours!

Very nice! I don't know why, but stock '40's always seem to look best in maroon. It's probably a good thing you needed the Lindberg kit for parts- the hubcaps in that kit are better than AMT's versions. The rest of the Lindberg kit wasn't great, but those hubcaps... fantastic!

OHC is great, OHV is great, but this is all sillly when valve-in-block engines still have such a following even 50 years removed from the last domestic production units- http://uncommonengineering.com/

I'd say keep this one as is, then do a new-and-improved version later on. You could display them side by side to show how you've progressed as a modeler. Though I must say, you think the work you did on this isn't the best, but it's still a very sweet looking model if you ask me!

Very cool! I cut down one of these years ago to use with the Model King camper, and used the rear portion of the body as a makeshift enclosed trailer.
