  1. Please tell me that you are reffering to the speedometer, not your driving apparel...
  2. Remember that Matador? The paint is Rustoleum 'Lagoon', which is a suede. I'm kind of toying with the idea of leaving it in suede- guess I'll see if it grows on me.
  3. Oddly, Captain Slow's Triumph actually worked pretty well- once you considered it was just an old roadster with a mast.
  4. Well, hopefully there will be (another) Avanti in the works here shortly- I've got a few very untoward ideas in mind for one...
  5. Yeah- I've seen that resin one, but I'm thinking reworking an AMT Cummins might be a bit more financially-feasible route for me! Thanks for the suggestions.
  6. Nice!
  7. I'd be up for a resin-body Airflow (cough, cough). I've never seen this Franklin model. I'll definitely be keeping an eye open for one now.
  8. I'm looking for something that would be correct for a 1952/53-vintage truck in 1:25 scale, 1:24 if that won't pan out. Is there anything out there that would work? Could a fairly common kit engine be backdated?
  9. If you wanted to go with something late model, you could also rob the Shebly-tuned Aurora 4.0 V8 from the Revell Shelby Series 1, though you might need to find a conventional gearbox as that car has the late Corvette type torque tube/rear-mounted transaxle.
  10. I think Matt put it best- the Heller is like the big Airfix kit at half the size- very nicely done. I haven't built the Heller kit, but I've seen built and unbuilt examples of them in person and they're very nicely done. I do have the 1:12 MPC version of the Airfix kit- unfortunately it is VERY incomplete, so I'm building only the engine as a display piece.
  11. There's a guy a few miles from me who has a '69 Mustang body on a late '70's F-250 frame. I get the burning desire to kill him every time I drive by. But at least the Charger looks halfway decent compared to that Mustang.
  12. Yes! Bring back Pontiac! And Oldsmobile! And Saturn! And Scripps-Booth! And LaSalle! And Geo! And Viking! And Marquette! And Oakland! And Beumont! And Yellow Coach! And Northway Engine Works! And Reliance! And Sheridan! And Little! To quote George Carlin "Too many choices, America. It's not healthy."
  13. Is this the one that comes with opening, hinged doors? Or was that the Bill Signs Pete? Or am I thinking of something else altogether...?
  14. Yes! Thanks Carlos- the #46 510 was the specific one I had in mind. Obviously I won't be trying an exact match for the paint scheme, but something in the spirit of that car's livery.
  15. As a guy who knows weathered C-Series trucks (and knows them well), I'd say you nailed the look. Very nicely done!
  16. Same story on the Cattleac- sad thing is it is 90% completed at this point- it's that last 10 percent that's breaking things.
  17. I'd be interested as well- I'm extremely curious to see how Aoshima would tackle a US-built, Muscle-car era subject, no matter what it would be.
  18. I hear that'll be in the March issue. Right between the realistic main seal leak how-to and the tutorial on what shade of off-chrome is correct for the heater hose clamps on a '69 Nova.
  19. Favor to ask- Do a Google images search for BRE Dastun and tell me if you think one of those paint schemes might work on this thing.
  20. Might be a Cuban rig- I found it on a site showcasing beaters of the world, and quite a few were from Cuba. I was just thinking that old Junkard Dog Mack kit might be a bit more presentable-looking if you built it to resemble this truck.
  21. I've tried using half-round rod to round out these D-shaped frame rails- sometimes it works okay, and sometimes it doesn't work so well. The 'half-round' molded frame rails in some of the old AMT dragster kit frames sometimes aren't really half round. It is worth a try, though.
  22. VERY nice indeed! I've got this kit on my 'gotta-build' pile. Like you, I'm not as knowledgable about heavy trucks and tractors as I'd like to be, but they're still quite a lot of fun to model.
