  1. Arrrgghh! I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info anyway.
  2. That's a Cad motor- though with a little work it could resemble a pre '64 Olds mill. For a Chassis, I'd go with the AMT '62 Bel Air or the Lindberg '61- I think those had the X-frame, though you might have to stretch the wheelbase for them to work.
  3. Weird... first time I read this post, the logo was there- it was gone a few minutes ago, now it's back again. Forum itself is working just fine, as far as I can tell.
  4. I too rely upon books and online image searches, but I often find what may be a great 'detail shot' may not be a great 'reference picture'. Practically none of the images you find in print or online are taken with being reference for building models in mind. Sometimes you just want to see where the voltage regulator attaches to the inner fender... and it's not even in view in EVERY SINGLE PICTURE you find! When I photograph a 1:1, I tend to take a quite a few shots of varios areas from as many angles as practical, so I'm not left wondering what goes where. But I do have to agree- if such an 'image database' were set up, I think it would be a good idea, but who would host the site (I'm not expecting the model manufacturers to do it), who would take the photos, and would the photos be any more beneficial than what can already be found? So, I guess the answer is 'Yes, I would like to see a site with images meant specifically for reference to modelers, and have the images sorted out in some logical manner, but I'm not sure how likely such a thing might be.
  5. One I've been working on- I've wanted to build a diesel-powered rat rod for a while, and this is where I'm at with that so far. It's an IH V-800 engine in a modified Lil Mixer chassis- who knows what other stuff I'll use to fill it out. Just for fun... see how many kit parts you recognize in the photos.
  6. People who evaluate car kits for a living! I guess...
  7. Rob- LOVE that '36, but I gotta ask... where did you get the IH single axle tractor in the background?
  8. It does depend on what kind of pen, too- most of the ones I've seen are either about the right height but too large in diameter, or way too small in diameter and too tall. I wouldn't say its impossible, but it would be a lot of searching.
  9. Keep the freezer door shut, open it ONLY when you have to, and ice will keep for quite a while even without power. I still was able to enjoy scotch on the rocks during a three day power outage in mid summer.
  10. Furniture engineers aren't qualified to evaluate car kits?
  11. I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS!!!! Lackluster chassis detail means little to me... though cruddy engine detail irks me to no end. Weird, huh?
  12. You COULD put Crags on one side and steelies on the other.
  13. A shame this kit's $50 (or likely close) I'd just love a set of those hubcaps.
  14. Builds like this make me miss the '87 I had.
  15. Sleepers can have Cragars, too! For all anybody needs to know it's grandma's inline six/automatic for the powertrain, right? I wont' gripe no matter which rollers she gets.
  16. Wow. Hate to hear that Harold. And until just now I was thinking I was having a suck year. If I can help out in any way, you know how to get a hold of me.
  17. Hubley also had '60 and '62 Ford wagons as well, Dennis Doty did a column on them in MCM not too long ago. I think somebody was casting those in resin a while back- not sure who or if they're still available.
  18. If Revell does it, even if it is based on an existing tool (likely), it WILL sell... why do you think Revell has so many '32 Ford variants now? It looks like a potential kit of this would have quite a few cool parts on it, IF Revell does it right. That alone would sell quite a few.
  19. Wow. Workable, but a bit rough! Sort of reminds me of a Berretta glue bomb I bought years ago, which had obviously been built by a young kid. Looked like the engine had been 'welded' together with a cigarette lighter! Takes a LOT of tube glue to melt an assembled engine block, but it happened.
  20. What could be better than a type 2 pickup? One that's been weathered, loaded down with cool accessories, and set in a cool diorama background! very nice indeed.
  21. Had the time to soak it in the last few hours (it's been hectic)- really digging the George Trosley interview, loved Dennis Doty's story on the Metro and Dauphine (really want both those kits!), and the show coverage. Not saying the rest sucked, those are just what popped into my head first! And I really want one of those Replicas and Miniatures Buick 8 engines now!
  22. In the Vee Dub? Nah- that's the Beetle pancake four, up front and hooked up to a conventional trans. ( I blame this one soley on 'VW Dave' and the front engined Model T "V Bucket" hot rod he built a few years back.)
  23. Got this strange little gem in a trade with Dave 'Double D' If you've seen any of JB Welda's build from this kit, I think you might know what lies ahead for it.
