Drove over a broken piece of a rat-tail file. Yep- not a nail. Not a screw, not a sharp stone. A broken rat-tail file! Note that the techinque works best only on hollow, pneumatic tires. I'm just suprised I haven't grown tired of this! (Emoticon representing me re-writing "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith to "Sweet Emoticon" here.) -
Nope- Norm still does not maintain a website. I've seen others post images of his stuff, but not sure if I've seen the carbs.

George is right, they're beautifully cast and even come with wire to detail the venturri!
-
Yummy- so citrus-y sweet it's burning my nose! I love it all, but I have to say the underhood detailing is fantastic.

Yeah- trouble is, you jack up the truck and turn the wheel, then set the truck back down, the flat goes right back to the bottom!

Revell 1/12 Mustang GT500 now on Revell`s site
Chuck Most replied to Hawk312's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Took the words right out of my mouth! Yeah, opening doors and trunk would be nice in this scale, but as has been said, how much would that add to the price? I think that's about the only reason most kits, even the larger scale versions, do not include such features. Some of the old AMT and MPC kits featured this, but the jamb detail and hinges were almost afterthoughts. Yeah, today, I'm sure it could be done more convincingly, but at what price point? A sealed hood would be ridiculous, but since all of the models I build spend 99.9% of their time with any operable panels they may have closed, I can live without those features. Besides, there's always the option of opening them up myself if I so fancy! -
Oh, yeah! You guys keep doing 'big scale' versions of Hot Wheels and you'll have me building them soon enough.

Skip, not sure if you are half-joking or not, but I do think it would be worth considering, as long as those General Lees can be joined by other TV and film vehicles. -
Oh- forgot- watch it when you install the front bumper- if you look at mine, you can see where the paint got gouged while it was being put on.

Started on the Ambulance. It is a Beverly Hillbillies Olds truck kit, with the suspensions from a Revell '41 Willys SWC/Mazmanian kit. The engine is a booooring Chevy small block, but I jazzed it up with a Potvin blower and some wild headers. I also mocked up a cowl from a junk '32 Chrysler body, just to see how it would look. The body will probably end up being all or mostly scratchbuilt.

I believe it's the new 'Bel Air' version. It shows billets on the box top, but it shows the big-inch steelies on one of the side panels.

Really liking what I see here- just hope my project doesn't train wreck it!

I post in 'Bench and Under Glass for the same reason (I assume) most others to- to show off my work. That way people other than myself and the people who come to my house are seeing it, whether or not they are posting. Praise, comments, criticisms- I've had them all posted with regards to what I'm building, and all have been duly noted. And I've picked up quite a bit from looking at other people's projects. But I tend not to worry too much about responses- I figure if something has a few hundred views, SOMEBODY's taking the time to at least open the thread, even if they aren't commenting!
-
Figured that out the fun way! For now I'll just right click the link and copy it into my other tab. Forgot all about the Ranchero version (how, I don't know). Gregg- whatcha have in mind for the drop-top?
-
No timeline? Yeah, I think I can jump in with a rat rod ambulance! Or maybe a rat rod brush truck. Either way, I'm in!
-
Bug eye or frog eye, I've always liked these cars, too. I know I'll be checking this one out.
-
I probably could, but I just don't wanna!
