Time + Money + Effort = ?

Still the best looking late-model 'Vette I've ever seen. -
Yeah, Grant was the the big dog, but Sherman? He was the nut job. (I.E., the one who was FUN to learn about in history class.) Monty- you might be onto something with that paint-by-Braille system, I mean, how could it have taken the guy THREE DAYS to notice the TP and tape lettering on the doors? Maybe it wasn't pretty, but wouldn't you have to concede that the fact a blind man could not only paint, but OPERATE, a car of any kind is pretty amazing?

I've seen a couple of 'General Grant' Chargers, but I already like this one better because it's a Ford, and a Falcon no less. Hope to see this one finished and burning up cities and ripping up railroad tracks soon!

I have a half-started rat rod Prowler somewhere, and what I did was use a set of spare 17" and 20" rings, then modified some parts box 15" wheel spiders from a '77 Monaco kit to fit in the Prowler tires. Looking back, I think I'd have been better off with using just the hubs from the steel wheels, and making the spiders from scratch to better fit the large diameter wheels.

Dropping parts

Well, technically, I think IT found HIM. -

Wow, England is just like Michigan! -
For the 88-98 C/K extended cab, you could just use the snap-together Dually kits and kitbash it with the Sportside or 454 SS kits. The hood is separate from the body on the snap kits, so the firewall and other underhood parts from the glue kit will fit the snap kit cab. That's what I did with the '90 GMC C 1500 I've been working on- If you want to just make an x-cab dually, Modelhaus sells a replacement chassis, which uses the suspension pieces from the glue kits and allows you to add engine/chassis detail to the snap dually kits, without having to stretch the glue kit frame or floor pan. I just stretched a glue kit frame on my GMC, because it's a short bed, and I didn't feel like ordering a part for it I'd need to modify (in my case) anyway!

Dropping parts
Chuck Most replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I never drop parts. No, for some reason, I'll be cutting or trimming something, and for no apparent reason, it will just go flying off the workbench in some random direction. I'll hear it bounce off the ceiling or wall, but I've gotten to the point I don't even go looking for them anymore. My model room has no carpet, only a hardwood floor, but every time I go looking for something that flew off the bench, I come back empty handed. I don't know, can there be a carpet monster in a room with no carpet? -
We're having a heat wave...
Chuck Most replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's the main reason I hate humidity and high temps, right there. Need to do a paint job? Sorry, too humid.... -
As a kid, I had a Datsun Z car and an Oshkosh snowplow- the Oshkosh wasn't much larger than the Z! One of them was box scale for sure! My Boneshaker is from the 'collectible' line from Hot Wheels, it's quite a bit larger than the typical 1:64 and 1:64-ish scale versions, and I think they even make a larger scale version than the one I have, as well as the smaller version.

Oh, I HATE it when it's humid. Heat, yeah, I can tolerate. But add heat with humidity and a blazing, sunny day... I'll stay in the air conditioned model room and fritter the day away there! Not that I'm a fan of winter... I don't mind the cold, but I hate snow quite passionately. -
Should have called me ten years ago, Jeff! I had a '75 just like the one in Joe Dirt

What he said!

The wiring, the tag on the upper passenger's side corner of the firewall, the subtle, realistic weathering... oh, this one is GOOD! The fact I love Fairlanes makes it even better.
-
All it went through, and on top of that I think he got the year wrong, it had the earlier 'blade' bumpers. Didn't notice until it was up on the 4x4 chassis.
-
Love that '70 Charger, and the new-style Charger roadster looks cooler than the 1:1.
-
Haven't checked it out yet, I'm still kind of lukewarm on Adam Corrola. On the other hand, I'm worried about the fate of that Yellow '75 Maverick on tonight's US Top Gear...
-
That particular version isn't 1:64, its from the bigger, 1:50-ish Hot Wheels series. They do have this in 1:64, I've just never stumbled across one.
-
I actually dug out some of my Hot Wheels, and I think I've got a few pretty cool candidates in my own stash... Fast Cash Hyper Mite The creatively named Custom Volkswagen Beetle Deora II Bedtime Cool One Bone Shaker Of the group, Fast Cash and Cool One are the two I'd really love to do in 1:25, though that Bone Shaker wouldn't be too tough to pull off with an AMT '25 T coupe body. Hmmmm....

Same here- I have no idea where it's going! Total 'seat of the pants engineering' going on here, my standard MO! This was what the cab started out as, it's the same kit as the current Aoshima issue, only molded in yellow instead of red-
-
Very cool! I'm still thinking of jumping in on that one, but I think the bar has been set a bit too high!

I used the chassis and interior from the '71 kit in that body, and it works pretty well, though it probably would not be correct if you were doing anything but a custom.
