  1. Shaping up killer! Haven't seen that Buick, but I do have the Maisto diecast '55 Buick police car kit which will eventually become a mild custom.
  2. Love the Squarebird, and your custom rendition is killer! The '58-'60 style is one of my favortie designs, I'd love to have the AMT kit one of these days.
  3. Looks finished to me. Love the '60's Altereds!
  4. Here's an older one of mine, a '24 Citroen, which had its 5-horse four banger replaced with an air-cooled inline three made from half a Corvair mill. Why? No idea at all... http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/rat-alley/24-citroen-c-bucket/
  5. I tried 'hot casting' once. That's how I ended up with these neat facial scars!
  6. I've tried two Escalade to Siverado clip swaps, and yeah, it's not as easy as I thought! Wish ya luck, and can't wait to see how you pull it off.
  7. I tried the baking-soda flocking trick a few years back, and a light mist of paint really pulls it off. And Dan- you're just going for a nice, crispy brown on the edges.
  8. As an aside- Calypso Coral, Poppy Red, and Competiton Orange are the same color, the name dependend on what year/model vehicle it was on.
  9. Very awesome! This is the first one I've seen done up as an ambulance, though I toyed with building one as an ambulance-styled rat rod for a while.
  10. Been there! Likely will go there again! Sometimes it's simply poor wording, or a misunderstood intent. Sometimes, yes, it is just plain bashing. But I truly think that for the most part, people mean well. They consider what they are saying to be creative input, and the recipient of the comment may or may not take it the right way. It'll happen. We all put our feet in our mouths from time to time, right?
  11. I need this kit. I mean, I need this kit worse than Ben Affleck needs acting classes!!!!!
  12. They look GREAT, especially considering no chrome foil AND how long ago they were built. (Not that I like to admit 30 years really is a long time....) I wonder how guys keep their models looking this nice after so long, when mine look terrible within five years no matter what I do. Sigh...
  13. Fantastic color combo- kinda reminds me of a root beer float for some reason. Lovely work on the build.
  14. Sorry if I missed this on the thread, but is that the R&R Vacuum Craft body? If so, it looks way too clean to be one of their more recent castings!
  15. Not sure if the Corvair-mutant thingie will still be what ends up on the trailer. Sheesh, I'm still not sure if I'll go ahead and do a tri-axle, two car hauler like I've been thinking I should! I'm thinking something really nutty for the trailer load- like a nutty, over the top, so-in your face machine that could only be trailered if it were 1:1. Rat rod trailer queen, in other words! Any suggestions/thought would be helpful!
  16. Truer words are seldom spoken. I have a few remainders of 'donor kits' which will eventually end up as junker/abandoned projects.
  17. This keeps up one more night, I'll be sleeping in my truck with the A/C on full blast, as my home unit isn't quite up to snuff! So if you see a Ford F-250 idling somewhere at night, and there's a (possibly nude) guy sleeping on the seat, worry not, it will just be me!
  18. I use EVERYTHING, in the long run... All of these are either the results of direct kitbashing, or the use of lefover parts from former kitbashees... As far as 'plan'? Well, my standard MO is this- randomly spike parts into my workbench, and whatever doesn't shatter is whatever I'll use on that particular project! If you can call that a plan, well, that's my plan!
  19. I wasn't much a fan of the engine in the Tamiya Wrangler, I thought it was a bit on the 'Lego-y' side, but the rest of the kit was pretty well up to snuff. I really could have done without the molded side steps, though. I can't believe I forgot about the Revell Midgets! Yeah, probably not 100%, unflinchingly accurate, but about the closest any mainstream kit has ever come.
  20. So... this is your FIRST TIME modeling a building? Looks like you're a fast study- it's all amazing, every bit of it.
  21. Might need to pick up a few of those valve covers!
  22. Well, if this kit is a hit (and I'm fully convinced it will be), maybe there will be other model years kitted using the '53 kit as the base. If not, there already are a couple of resin Hudson bodies out there, and I'm sure the aftermarket guys will step in with all sorts of options for this kit once it is out, even if Moebius cannot.
