  1. One word... WOW!!!!
  2. Ran some valve stems that were a bit too long in my '75 El Camino once. Went through a McDonald's drive thru, scrubbed the curb... pop! Instant flat. That's what happens when a 17 year old puts on his own tires in auto shop!
  3. I hope they bring back the two-door version, while they're at it.
  4. I've read those gripes in the automotive magazines, but I know quite a few Ion owners, and they've never had anything bad to say about the layout. I've spent some time behind the wheel of Model A Fords, and they have the gauges at the center of the dash, too. So did a lot of cars up until the mid '30's. At one time, it was common, and it really isn't bad once you get used to it. Being that the Saturn's gauges are up higher and more legible, I really don't see the issue. It's a unique feature, if nothing else.
  5. I blame my momentary lapses on the fact I was born in the '80's, but my mother still somehow managed to raise me in the '60's. Guess that explains my long hair, my love for folk music, and my thing with air-cooled Volkswagens!
  6. That center-mounted gauge cluster was what tipped me off!
  7. Very nice. Subtle, but mean looking.
  8. Bill must have a Saturn Ion...
  9. I'm not into rebuilding the Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars (yet), but I love seeing them given the modeler's touch. That and I like to see non-Trans Am Pontiac F-Bodies (no 'screaming chicken', no problem for me), so it's a winner in my book.
  10. I've got this half-Corvair, Small Block powered, Beetle truck cab thing going...
  11. Perhaps it was sucked back into the same mysterious time-rift where he found it...
  12. Doesn't look like there's much left of that Revell chopper! I'd ride that thing on the street.
  13. Seems I no longer have the model I 'flocked' with baking soda, and no pics of the interior. Maybe I'll give it another go and snap a photo or two this time. Like it's been said, apply it, a thin coat of primer (just enough to seal it in place), and a light mist of your color coat, and it looks very convincing.
  14. Shaping up killer! Haven't seen that Buick, but I do have the Maisto diecast '55 Buick police car kit which will eventually become a mild custom.
  15. Love the Squarebird, and your custom rendition is killer! The '58-'60 style is one of my favortie designs, I'd love to have the AMT kit one of these days.
  16. Looks finished to me. Love the '60's Altereds!
  17. Here's an older one of mine, a '24 Citroen, which had its 5-horse four banger replaced with an air-cooled inline three made from half a Corvair mill. Why? No idea at all... http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/rat-alley/24-citroen-c-bucket/
  18. I tried 'hot casting' once. That's how I ended up with these neat facial scars!
  19. I've tried two Escalade to Siverado clip swaps, and yeah, it's not as easy as I thought! Wish ya luck, and can't wait to see how you pull it off.
  20. I tried the baking-soda flocking trick a few years back, and a light mist of paint really pulls it off. And Dan- you're just going for a nice, crispy brown on the edges.
  21. As an aside- Calypso Coral, Poppy Red, and Competiton Orange are the same color, the name dependend on what year/model vehicle it was on.
  22. Very awesome! This is the first one I've seen done up as an ambulance, though I toyed with building one as an ambulance-styled rat rod for a while.
  23. Been there! Likely will go there again! Sometimes it's simply poor wording, or a misunderstood intent. Sometimes, yes, it is just plain bashing. But I truly think that for the most part, people mean well. They consider what they are saying to be creative input, and the recipient of the comment may or may not take it the right way. It'll happen. We all put our feet in our mouths from time to time, right?
  24. I need this kit. I mean, I need this kit worse than Ben Affleck needs acting classes!!!!!
