  1. Some of you will recognize this- It was 'in the shop' to repair some damage last weekend, and earlier this week, I decided to make a few changes. Add whitewalls, an axle strap for the back, and maybe lose that boooooring round air cleaner. So here's what I did= I painted the whitewalls onto the existing rear tires, and was careful not to make them look TOO nice, going over them with fine grit paper later to expose the letters. The front tires are the rears from a Revell Rat Rods series kit, with a '49 Ford cap on one side and a '48 on the other. I added a Mr.Gasket scoop, and an old trophy topper to the engine to act as the oil filler cap. Out back, I used a hitch from a Revell Midget kit to mount the scratchbuilt axle wrap. It has tire tread to serve as the straps, and tie the look into the tire tread-clad front bumper. An that's about it, Vern. Anyone caring to find out a little bit more can check out the entire WIP here- http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/rat-alley/91-ford-f-350-rig-rod/
  2. Just fleshing out the details on the basic 'cab and chassis' for the moment...
  3. Sorry... just not seeing anything at all 'agressive' about the new design. I mean, look at hose LED 'halos' around the headlamps, and that smiley face bumper. I think it's even girlier looking than the current New Beetle, which was a girly car to begin with! And from the side, it looks like a tall, stubby Porsche 911. I thought they were going to quit making these, anyway.
  4. Love seeing progress on this one! I think my Datsun version will be more of a 'rat like' creature.
  5. I have a bad radius arm bushing. But what did I get today? The Revell '10 Mustang and some Tamiya paints.
  6. First, I have to finish a few stock bodies I've converted to altered wheelbase funny cars!
  7. Yep- compared against an '08 Bullitt in my stash. Different, still tall and blocky. Thankfully though, I have no plans to use the kit supplied rolling stock on this puppy!
  8. Just got mine today, and I'm very happy with it. It still has the blocky truck tires from the '06 kit and its spinoffs, and judging from the box art model still suffers from a somewhat airy ride height. Nothing impossible to work around. Also appears Revell is using that same plastic Round 2 is using... the glossy stuff with the pungent odor!
  9. Kinda leaning toward the 'chopped camper' idea now. If I screw up, I can always revert to the fifth wheel version. Heck, now that I think of it, I've got another one of these kits laying around someplace.
  10. Yeah, Tony- I ended up liking that '53 too, even though I had NO IDEA what it was going to end up looking like when done! (BTW... I've updated it recently, keep your eyes peeled for pics in the next few days.) Never thought of a chopped trailer, Johnny... what about a chopped teardrop camper? OR... A cut down open road camper for the body????
  11. Never noticed the misshapen wheel openings. Haven't built one of these in a while, mostly because the last one I bought (during the RC2 years) came with the WRONG BODY. (GTX, not the 'Runner body.)
  12. I have the larger Boneshaker (1:43?), and its one of my favorites in my diecast collection. Love this one! Redoing Hot Wheels cars is the one thing I haven't tried yet!
  13. Not sure- that truck sat out in front of a locksmith shop on M-57 for YEARS. Wondered where it went, then stumbled across it that day at the yard.
  14. I haven't built anything ridiculous in a while. For me, that's saying something. So, we'll rectify that little situation like this... Here's my inspiration- a whacked mid '60's Chevy wrecker done up in a decidedly hardcore rat rod style. Doubt mine will be a wrecker- I've done the wrecker rat rod thing before. I'm thinking a fifth wheel or something like that. Then again, maybe I will build it as a wrecker? Not sure, this will simply be another of my 'throw stuff at the workbench' type projects. I stared with a Revell '65 Chevy C-10 that had been raided for parts. I started off with the chassis- I used the lowered kit front suspension and stock rear axle, with wheels robbed from a Monogram F-350. The tires are from two Revell Deuce kits- the littles on the front, two pairs of the 'bigs' in back. I cut out the inner fenders, and body dropped the truck about 6 scale inches. The top was chopped roughly 8 scale inches, and the wing vents were removed. One of the parts stolen from this kit was the hood- I used it on a '60 kit because I don't like the 'pods' on the early '60's GM truck hoods. On this one, I thought this hood would be perfect, so I used the discared '60 piece. I must like using Hemis in '60-'66 GM trucks- of the five I've built, this is the third to use one. It's from the Revell '41 Willys kit, with the Double Dragster 8-carb manifold and a DeSoto valley cover. The belled aluminum carb stacks are from an unknown manufacturer. I'm going full blown kookie on this one, like that '53 Ford wrecker I built a couple of years ago. Should be a fun one!
  15. Despite what's been said, I like it. I know nothing about NASCAR stock cars, neither from the '70's nor the current ones, but I like how this one is shaping up.
  16. Well, one AMT Cobra in the running, rules out mine!
  17. Only the magic of teh internets, Mr. P!
  18. Well, Jacen, ya did it... I'll be buying a couple each of these!
  19. Very cool! I started an asphalt car a few years back (after seeing Drew's Bench Racer column a few years back ), I might have to take it out of mothballs and finish it as a dirt car now!
  20. Those things to the left look like scary shark heads!
  21. Lemme see if I have one nasty enough to be a candidate!
  22. Drew- didn't that Falcon start out as an AWB funny car?
  23. I'd say absolutely on the Farmall nose! If for no other reason I wouldn't have to make the master! Going to have to restock my Terraplane grilles pretty shortly, too, by the looks of it-
  24. And more expensive! (Not by an ungodly amount, but still!)
  25. One will be built as a lead sled. One will be built as a Bonneville racer. One will be built as an abandoned junker. One will be used as a base kit for a Hendrix resin body. One will donate its Twin H I-6, which will sit behind one of Jim Pelosi's resin '37 Terraplane grilles on a rat rod. And those are just the first five uses I've concocted...
