  1. If that's the Interceptor, it would be the first time I've ever seen a police-issue car with alloy wheels.
  2. To this day, when driving at night I can tell just by the lamps if it's a Caprice, Crown Vic, or FWD Impala in my rearview! Does get kind of iffy- sometimes it's just a civilian car, and the Mercury Grand Marquis' lamp arrangement does closely resemble that of the Crown Vic. Now most of the local cops are running Tahoes and Expeditions, and that really throws a monkey wrench into things.
  3. When Olds was pushing its diesel engines in the '80's, of course the Lansing, Michigan area cops had to try 'em out. Let's just say they never caught on.
  4. Oh, yeah. I can't tell you how many times I passed on the AMT Concept Camaro just because of that awful box art! Pretty much all of the RC2-era box art was awful, even if the kit was pretty good. The Lindberg/Model King Triumph GT6+? Terrific box art, even though the kit is a catastrophic mess in terms of detail and breakdown!
  5. Yep, and since this is about a classic car dealer, it's pretty much all about the bottom line on this show. I was really struck by how 'not knowledgeable' the main guy seemed to be about classic cars. I mean, I'm no expert myself, but I was trying not to scream at the TV a couple of times, and I couldn't even sit through the entire episode! I loved Rides, too. I never really got into Overhaulin', but I did watch a few episodes of Pinks before that host started getting on my nerves. I used to watch Trucks back when Stacy David still hosted it, but now it seems like EVERY automotive show has the overbearing personality thing going on. I mean, look at American Hot Rod... every episode unfolded exactly the same way, the only thing different was the particular car they were working on in that episode!
  6. Love it! Makes me wish I'd finished my Phantom Woody pickup.
  7. On the other hand, I heard a guy pronounce "Willys" correctly for the firt time in, well... ever!
  8. Clocked in ten hours at the bench yesterday! Didn't seem to make much more than a mess, though. Did make some minor progress on a few projects, and may have started a few new ones.
  9. Anybody else seen this show? It was on today, I had to shut if off after not one, but two people referred to a '38 Ford as a Dodge. Like the big Ford emblems on either side of the hood weren't even a giveaway? Won't be watching this again!
  10. I'd like to build a version of the Batmobile as if the Joker had stolen it and rebuilt it in a manner more befitting his own style.
  11. Wow! It's insane how the truck landed like that! Almost looks like somebody picked it up, flipped it over, and gently set it back down.
  12. Niko- the truck itself is a '58 or '59 GM- Modelhaus sells these trucks as curbside kits, or you could possibly rework the AMT '55/57 kits into one. Not sure what kit or aftermarket suppliers have similar wheels to that.
  13. I'm going to turn one into a full-detail Lincoln Futura. At least that's the plan.
  14. Amazing how well all those different parts mesh into your design! I'll continue drooling over this one.
  15. Huh... weird! Wonder who casts that one?
  16. Must have been a mix-up there, the R&R Safari does have a Pontiac body-
  17. Right about now, I'm wishing I had another '61 Olds F-85 kit in my stash!
  18. Years ago, SAE ran a Sketchpad illustration featuring an old Craftsman series AMT '59 Edsel kitbashed with the Revell Retractable. I'm thinking of trying it with the newer tool '58 kit. John- never realized the '59's had more standardized sheetmetal than the previous two years models. Since the retractable was such a low production car, I wonder why they even bothered continuing it into '59. Perhaps to pay off the engineering costs? I remember reading it was originally designed for Lincoln, but it would have made the Lincoln so expensive, the execs at FoMoCo figured putting the feature on the less-expensive Ford made more sense.
  19. A shame she's painted up and foiled all pretty... but only because now I know there's no shot of this beauty being temporarily loaned to a resin caster!
  20. I've wanted one of these kits for a while... so I can stuff a big, honkin' V8 in it!
  21. YIKES! Never had the blade shatter like that (knock on wood), but I did once have a chunk of plastic I was cutting fly up and go into my eye. Instinctively, I blinked, and the hunk ended up under my eyelid. Getting it out was NOT pleasant...
  22. Yeah, I doubt we'll see a wagon, due to the reasons Charlie just pointed out. I'd love a 4-door '72 Cutlass kit, too, but let's just say I am NOT holding my breath!
  23. I've heard a few negative things, but you know what? The guy makes some good stuff, and I've got a few pieces from Reliable on my wants list. From what I've seen, yeah- some people have some issues, but I've heard about as many who had good experiences with him. And from what Darrin says, Don sounds like my kinda people.
  24. Yep- the tires for mine were about the only fly in the ointment as far as I was concerned. Other than that, it looks to be a terrific kit.
