  1. Sometime in the '80's the original 5-spoke mags were replaced by the current baby moons (might have been for the '94-ish reissue. The Dirt Track Racecars reissue shows the mags still included, but the kit inside does indeed have the baby moons. Other than molded colors and decals, the kit is largely the same as it's always been. And yes, several parts from the terrible MPC flipnose will work on the 'Trophy Series' AMT kit.
  2. One of the guys who works for Stoddard Classic cars (Cheasaning) is tooling around in a '58 T-Bird droptop- not sure if it's his or one that's for sale. And just this morning I saw a white GT-R in Alma, the second time I've seen it in that hodunk little town.
  3. Yep, they're coming out of the woodwork here in Central MI. Ithaca Chevrolet just recently got their obligatory summer ride on the lot as well-
  4. Could be the paint fumes. These model cements nowadays just ain't what they used to be...
  5. YEAH, RON!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!! Both gorgeous, just absolutely gorgeous. Gives me something to shoot for when I start filling in the blanks to my '60's Connie collection! Decided to take the 'lazy route' with my console, I just nabbed one from a '97 Mustang. While I was at it I lifted both buckets from same, and added a Lincoln star from my parts box- no idea what kit it is from. (Anyone?) Inching ever closer...
  6. Tiny? TINY???? The thing's gigantic! Well, as far as trunk-mounted dorsal fins go! It's quite a prominent part of the design, for sure. And one of my favorite styling bits on the car. http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/customs-1/61-plymouth-fury-/zz-002.html
  7. Oh, fun fact time! Remember the scene in Apollo 13, where Tom Hanks has the model rocket and is explaining to his son how it works? The kit that model was built from came from Dean's.
  8. I did consider that, Charlie. In fact, I've done exactly that on a couple of models (neither of which are done yet ). But I'm thinking of keeping the door panels somewhat smooth, and I'm about 90% certain I'll add speakers to at least the fronts. Once that's figured out I'll proceed from there. Still not sure about how I'll do the center console, and that flat, lifeless package tray needs a little spicing up! On the plus side- no need to order those Modelhaus repop taillamps- I had a spare '65 kit for parts, and the taillamps from that kit fit the '62 bezels perfectly. I was hoping to spray another coat or two of clear on the body today, as the trim is all foiled, but it's too humid. Can't wait until I build my spray booth...
  9. Uh-oh, might owe somebody a royalty check...
  10. What's so bad about not being able to buy semi gloss black? Mix gloss and flat 50/50, and boom- instant semigloss. THE SKY IS NOT FALLING!!!!
  11. I don't see why everybody thinks the Lonestar is ugly. Ever seen a Freightliner Columbia? Or an HME Bullet? Or ANY of the newer Volvo rigs? Now THAT'S ugly!
  12. Hey- if people do that, and you find you have way too many, I'll take the remainder!
  13. I'm actually working on something right now. Stay tuned...
  14. Work on the interior has begun. Kit had both seats molded in place- That HAD to go. I first tried cutting them into buckets, but didn't like the way they looked, even after filling in the sides. Made the seats go away, and made a huge mess of the tub. I've removed the front bench from a 1:1 car in the past, THAT wasn't as tedious as this! And it STILL needs some work, but I filled in the gaping holes in the door panels, and grafted in the floor from a '65 reissue.
  15. No Internationals, though, and that's my biggest hang up. I like the Ford Aeromax and LTL 9000 (my favorite non-International rigs), and I'd love to see some new American rigs from them. Hey- I'd love to see what they've got in store for European tractors and trucks as well.
  16. If this kit is a sucess.... and pardon me if I'm mistaken, it already is... I'd me more suprised if Moebius did NOT offer a few Binder kit spin-offs. I'd love to see them kit a first-gen Scout, or if we all promise to be really good, the MaxxForce concept '39 Hot Rod (stock or show truck, please)! But the bigger Internationals you mentioned? I WOULD buy at least a couple of each. What about a CXT? The heavy truck/tractor kits have been riding a tidal wave of renewed interest the last couple of years, I think a few of the long-wanted truck kits we've been wanting for years might be getting closer to reality.
  17. This kit is THE new standard. I've seen the Italeri stuff, which might have been the high water mark up until now, and they're good, but I think Moebius is well on its way to becoming the new Revell! I can only hope this is just the beginning for Moebius. If this kit is sucessful in today's ecomomic/hobby climate (and from what I see, it already is), I would be more suprised if Moebius did NOT produce more big-rig kits, than if they did. And there's still a pretty big niche of light commerical kits that is still untapped, maybe Moebius will step in to fill that void. Who knows? Maybe somewhere down the line I'll FINALLY get that first-gen IH Scout kit I've always wanted...
  18. Flip the Chevy axle over so the diff's on the proper side, and boom... instant high-pinion front axle!
  19. Front fenders? Yes, at least on the light duty pickups. Couldn't tell you about the running boards, and the rear fenders are different.
  20. You must be thinking of a different pic- this one is Mark Martin for sure. I'll see if I can locate that issue... I need to get this place organized!
  21. I feel the same way, brutha! For conveinience's sake, here's my album of the kit contents- http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/kit-contents/moebius/international-lonestar/
  22. Ford pickup? Check. Unibody Effie? Check. Guy named Chuck? Check. Being built by a guy who always does killer work? Check. Oh, yeah. I'll be looking in on this one.
  23. Dave- got my first of what I hope will be many Lonestar kits today. Totally speechless. You all did a fantastic job on this one!
  24. I have one. One Moebius Lonestar. Thanks for making me feel pathetic and insignificant! Sheesh- my mom & pop local shop in the middle of nowhere has already sold out of his first two orders, while the old standby muscle car kits collect dust on the shelf. What's THAT tellin' ya?
