  1. Oh, yeah, Jeff! Might need to foil mine sometime tonight- sure hope the paint is cured by now!
  2. Customer dissatisfaction will kill a resin caster (or any other business enterprise) dead. I've never dealt with Dencon- he does have some great stuff I do want to buy, though, and despite what I've heard, I just might roll the dice if he keeps the lights on. I'm convinced there are very few 'shady' casters out there, the ones who operate that way generally aren't around too long.
  3. I once told a resin caster in a PM, who was considering doing a kit already offered by another caster, to still consider it. The other caster's kit was poorly done, and I told the caster I was adressing he could do better. When I said "You could do better", I realized I should have added "than that other caster" to the end! So- another PM to explain what I meant. In that case, it turned out okay. He responded back by saying something to the effect of "Yeah, it's okay, I knew what you MEANT. " But sometimes, the misunderstanding still happens.
  4. We all need a Fortress of Solitude.
  5. I think it was called 'Turducken' casting. Don't think it ever caught on! Oh... can't believe I forgot to menton Modelhaus and Promolite 2000 in my last post. (That repeated thud sound is me slapping myself in the forehead...) Oddly, my most recent resin has come from those two. Great quality, didn't have to wait until my 58th birthday to get them.
  6. Hand in hand with the 'tone' thing, some guys just need to be a little bit more careful in how they choose their words. I know I've posted a few things I've had to go back and edit, because I realized somewhere between hitting 'post reply' and reading the post later that "Wow... that could be misinterpreted... ". I do see a few examples of that every so often, but the remark is either taken as it was intended, or the original poster clarifies the statement later on. Thankfully, out and out 'bashing' is exceptionally rare, but constructive criticism (emphasis on 'constructive' here) is plentiful, and for the most part, I think people are taking it as pointers on improving, not outright ridicule. And that is as it should be.
  7. Might be able to wring a tutorial out of it...
  8. Wow... that or don't know where the ON Star button is... "OnStar, how may I help you?" "Arrrrggghhhh! Omigod!!!! I'm locked in the car..."
  9. I'm satisfied with 'rodents'. See? Not so hard to please now, am I?
  10. Cool! Can't wait for the 'expanded' photos post!
  11. Yeah, the chrome on mine is iffy too. Mine has the tonneau cover, but no lowering leaves and the whitewalls are the two piece Firestones as seen in the '62 Catalina kit.
  12. If this set is a success... who knows? Count me in as a potential buyer for your proposed set of vintage whitewalls and RWL's.
  13. Yeah- looks like there's a second, smaller body inside it...
  14. Love it, though I always wondered why AMT supplied it with the dogdish caps. They kind of look out of place on a zooty car like a Starliner. Anyway, great job on this one, and love the color! And I'd have never noticed the foil issue if Harry hadn't noticed it.
  15. Now, about 'quoting' photos...
  16. Oh, great... "Ke$ha Syndrome" is spreading... FULL QUARANTINE!!!!
  17. Well... if I'd paid for that body, and not recieved it, I'd be pretty steamed. If it arrived and it looked like that... KILL KILL KILL KILL!!!!
  18. But this isn't the 'home market'... is it???? Dodge Intrepids were sold as Chryslers in Canada, and some Chevys were rebadged Pontiacs. Whatever it says on the title... As far as the accelerator thing, I just chalk that up to the stupidity of the average motorist. I mean, have you interacted with THOSE people???? Well, they did a bang-up job on faking the moon landing, according to my scary neighbor Fred. And who is this Kyle Bush guy? Is he related to George?
  19. We all need a little 'tough love' every so often. Well stated, Rob.
  20. Especially the rare, DOHC Hemi...
  21. As far as the engine, look into the stuff from Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland. Norm sells a vast line of hop up parts for the flathead, and since he patterned them after the engine in the Monogram/Revell '50 Ford kit, they fit like a glove. He sells some other parts for the truck, too, and truck parts in general. Somebody sells a chopped cab for this kit, too, not sure if it's Norm or not.
  22. I had a delay with an order from Jeff a while back, and he took care of it in a similar manner. I got a little insight into his situation at the time, and now my only regret is I don't buy more stuff from him! (Wait your turn, I'll be placing an order shortly... ) I've had great experiences with Jeff Ballard of Motor City Resin Casters, Kenny Shores of Bandit Resins, Al Raab of Ma's Resins, and Jimmy Flintstone, as well as Steve Kohler of STAR Models, who sells R&R, Hendrix, and Flintstone products. Again... my only regrets dealing with these guys is I don't order enough from them.
  23. Though calling a Lexus a Toyota is akin to calling a Chrysler a Plymouth... Besides, it's not like he was in a Prius!
