I bought an AMT '60 Starliner (the round 2 reissue), and the new reissue of the '51 Chevy drop top. I also ordered a Jimmy Flintstone '51 Buick body, '51 Nash sedan delivery, and an R&R '56(? looks more like a '57 to me) International pickup. Still waiting for the esteemed Mr. Jeff Ballard (wonder if he's related to Bob?) to send the International Metro. AND- I got a pair of new front tires for the front of my car. Huh. No wonder I've got serious money trouble!

Sheesh- and I think the one hour there one hour back haul to Dean's out in Flushing is a pain...

While picking parts off an early 80's Le Baron ragtop for a buddy of mine's car, I found an old Igloo cooler in the trunk with a compass (the drawing circles kind), three pocket bibles, several Swisher cigars still in the cellophane (but still looking pretty gross), a resin puppy figurine, two identical pairs of reading glasses- one pair with a lens missing, a strap from a sandal, a very old copy of Women's Health... and a pair of thong underwear. The other stuff I can see being in the old cooler in the trunk of an abandoned car, it's the thong that kind of messes with ya... I don't even want to talk about the '73-ish fullsize Dodge Hardtop with the trunk full of severed deer parts...

Oh yes! Those wheel rims are fragile as glass when you try to install them. I sanded the inside lightly to help- just take care not to smoosh the rim while you sand it! I don't get why the wipers are molded in place, when most everything else on the cab is separate. I didn't notice the too-tall headlamps until Tim's write-up, either. Still, I stand by what I said- it's a good kit!

Call me a glutton for punishment- now I'm planning on a second one, with the hood cut open and one of Ken Kitchen's Buick Straight 8 engines stabbed in the thing. Huh. Wonder if I think of it as a 'quick one year project' if I'll get it finished in a weekend?

This was supposed to be a quick, simple weekend project. A year later, and it's finally done! It's the Jimmy Flinstone Chopper Head body, on a butchered Jo Han Olds promo chassis from my spares box, all littered with a parts pack '57 Buick grile and headlamps, '62 Buick wheel covers, and a '66 Riv interior.

The kit is missing the grab handles shown on the box art, and the fit of parts is a bit fiddly, but this was my first sucessful big rig build and I'm pretty happy with it.

I echo that... UNLESS said rare car has snobby fanatics who'd be uber-offended by me cutting it up. Then, all bets are off!

The top edge of the grille and the hood itself are way too curved- it should be flat. And that's just the tip of the icebert- we won't even get into the missing cut lines, hood peak, etc. ... Sewage treatment ponds on the east end of town on a windy day. Hang ten!!!!

This is a cool kit, and the latest version is even better with that spare engine! 352 FEs are way too pretty to cover with a hood- I'd stab that puppy in a trad rod!
