  1. This was supposed to be a quick, simple weekend project. A year later, and it's finally done! It's the Jimmy Flinstone Chopper Head body, on a butchered Jo Han Olds promo chassis from my spares box, all littered with a parts pack '57 Buick grile and headlamps, '62 Buick wheel covers, and a '66 Riv interior.
  2. Wow- check out Juan's Scout, Guys! Evedently I'm not the only sicko who loves IH Scouts!
  3. Killer!
  4. Like what I see, but how about some underhood and interior photos?
  5. The kit is missing the grab handles shown on the box art, and the fit of parts is a bit fiddly, but this was my first sucessful big rig build and I'm pretty happy with it.
  6. I echo that... UNLESS said rare car has snobby fanatics who'd be uber-offended by me cutting it up. Then, all bets are off!
  7. The top edge of the grille and the hood itself are way too curved- it should be flat. And that's just the tip of the icebert- we won't even get into the missing cut lines, hood peak, etc. ... Sewage treatment ponds on the east end of town on a windy day. Hang ten!!!!
  8. This is a cool kit, and the latest version is even better with that spare engine! 352 FEs are way too pretty to cover with a hood- I'd stab that puppy in a trad rod!
  9. Looking incredible- man, if I could be even 2% as meticulous...
  10. Will this do?
  11. I agree- that's why I'm using another pair of Citroen tires on my '56 Rat project (or would that be projekt?)-
  12. Kool!
  13. I've added detail to the Scout II kit before, but this time, I decided to go the opposite route and do one as a slammer. I painted the inside of the window unit black, left out about 95% of the kit parts, and only concentrated on reshaping the grille and hood. I should also thank Bob "Zoom Zoom" Downie for the technique I used on the hood and grille for this one! Works great!
  14. I wanted to build a Volksrod- to me that's nothing new. But this time, I wanted to keep it VW powered, but make it RWD. I also wanted to see if I could chop a Beetle body into a pickup style cab. I wanted to do a rat rod with a VW front axle, and I wanted to add a Farmall tractor style nose. Let's see... that's six objectives, and I nailed all of 'em! The skinny- Chopped Revell Beetle body, scratchbuilt bed, '25 Model T chassis with '56 Beetle front axle and '55 Chevy pickup rear axle, scratchbuilt Farmall grille, Revell VW Pancake 4, Heller Citroen C4 rear tires and wheels, '56 Beetle dash, '66 Beetle steering wheel, '78 Courier steering column, and a wicked helping of parts box stuff.
  15. It's funny, when that car first came out, the TV ads actually said "Tiburon...it's Spanish for 'shark'." You can tell you are scraping bottom for a car name when you have to tell people what the name means in the ads! The AMC concept that spawned the Marlin was called the Tarpon. Does a fish-named concept count?
  16. Just picked up the Revell '72 Hurst Olds 442 drop top and the AMT '62 Cat SD421 "Farmer" reissue, and I just ordered an IH Metro from Motor City Resin Casters!
  17. How's about this... Kinda looks like what Robocop might use to drive his date to the prom!
  18. Looks killer- that yellow and purple color combo really pops! Great job Fatkidd! (By the way- that's a great screen name!)
  19. You mean Lonestar, right? Yeah- I'll be right in line behind you! Wouldn't mind this one, either: The RXT, kind of a diet CXT.
  20. Am I the only guy who'd like to see one or both of these in kit form?
  21. I was thinking that too, but I can't seem to find those cinder blocks from the AMT '50 Ford drop top I've got stashed away!
  22. There is... but not nearly as much as you'd think!
  23. I saw the article on this one in HRD, and thought it would make a killer model. Looks like I was right!
  24. The spirit of the muscle car's future, as it seemed in the late '80's. A Yamaha-engineered motor, in a Mazda engineered car, wearing Ford badges and fitted out with a Ford-designed interior! Yay multinationalism!!!! Wow, I was still using sewing thread for plug wire when I built this one! Still, it's one of my better efforts from my 'earlier' years. And yes, that SHO V6 does clear the hood after some gratuitous trimming of the oil pan, transaxle, and engine cradle, but only just so!
  25. Here's how you can fix both problems at once!
