  1. Yes, it's scale plug wire with the insulation strip off. They're easy to make.
  2. Nice work Jay !!! one day I'll have to build one of those Fury's instead of robbing them for parts. Steve
  3. I recall reading a story about the Bullitt Chargers and that one said there were three. There was the close up car that was always black, one that was original blue that they crash at the end. You can see the blue paint exposed near the end crash seen where the door handle was ripped off. The third one was a Camera car and believe it was yellow before the repaint. I'm pretty sure that last car was found and restored. Steve
  4. Great progress ..... I can't wait to see it in person. What's the upholstery material your using again ? Steve
  5. I've added the final details to the engine bay, first is an under hood siren which is from the Johan Police Fury with a pedestal mount added. The other is a dual snorkel air cleaner which is the kit part de-chromed and modified by adding the two snorkels made from short lengths of K&S tubing. Next, I started mocking up the interior. The A990 style interior trim while very plain is different from the base Belvedere, noticeably absent are the armrests. I decided to use a set of armrest taken from the Satellite kit test shot. I removed them by grinding and sanding away at the side panel backside until I was able to break them free. Minimal sanding was needed to clean them up before painting. I started with the rear armrest and then front was cut down after removal to match the rear. I painted them a slightly darker color that will match the dash. The handles were then covered with BMF to finish off the trim. I think that's better, not as Deluxe as the Satellite. Hopefully close enough to pass as Belvedere. More to come .... Steve
  6. I'm not holding my breath waiting for this one just because I don't see enough versions to justify it. On the flip side I never thought I 'd ever see the S&H Torino or a mid-eighties Olds Cutlass in kit form either. I agree it's a great design, maybe Revell has another surprise for us ? Steve
  7. I'm like 99% sure that Bob got his hands on a test shot of the 65 Comet from Dave. There's been several rounds so there's a few out there .... Steve
  8. Another quick update, the engine is in place and the front suspension is now permanently attached. I added a few more details by using a photo etched radiator cap and I made the squeeze type hose clamps from leftover spark plug wire with the insulation stripped away. Steve
  9. Yes, it's the stock 4bbl manifold found in both the Satellite and the Belvedere kits. It's supposed to represent the 426 wedge engine, I'm just trying to detail it to resemble a 383. I can't say if accurate for either one. Once the air cleaner is on you wont see much of it. Steve
  10. Thanks G, The color scheme for Kansas I'm using goes back to around 1950, the original paint color numbers I found decodes back as 1951 GM Midnight Blue metallic and 1951 Ford Truck Silvertone Grey. I'm actually using some more modern colors which are perfect matches, Plymouth code B9 Regal Blue Metallic and a Ford Fleet Light Grey which looks almost white against the very Dark Blue. I had both colors mixed in lacquer for me at a local PPG paint supplier, I have the PPG paint codes if anybody wants them.
  11. Stock color or not, that came out Beautiful !!!
  12. Great progress Eric ...... can't wait for the next update !!!
  13. Nicely done ....!!!
  14. Here's a quick update showing the engine detailed, ready to drop in. The M.A.D. prewired distributor cap is practically a drop in fit to the kit. I made a fuel pump and ran a line from it to the carb. The line from the valve cover to the carb base is the PCV hose. I used a Mobile App to combine these photos, I may post more photos like this one if the response is good. Let me know what you think .... Steve
  15. Right from the box the Moebius Belvedere Sedan kit it very close to the factory Police Package so I figured why not build one. I went with the Kansas State Patrol because they used two door patrol cars in the 60's, I liked the paint scheme and the decals are available. So with a few parts from the Moebius Satellite and Johan Police Car kits, some aftermarket parts and a few minor modifications I think I can make an accurate replica. I always start with the basic chassis and unibody front structure on these Mopar kits. I'm going for a factory stock, first day in service look so the floor pans got the typical Mopar overspray treatment. The top side is painted to resemble the black vinyl floor covering still used in todays Police Cars. The dual exhaust is from the Satellite kit, both kits share the same suspension parts. The bucket style seats were available on both the two and four sedan Mopar Police Packages by '64 and maybe even earlier based on documented survivors. A dummy plate covering the radio opening was added to an early test shot dash panel without the detail engraving of the production kits. Here's the basic chassis and suspension completed, The front end assembly is only dry fitted, it will be glued in at the same time as the engine as it needs to go in first. I'm going to call this part 1, stay tuned for more soon ..... -Steve
  16. The Revell 57 Ford Police Beacon is closer the Beacon Ray Jr then the FS-17. Plaskit out of your home town of Quebec use to sell the Johan style Beacon Ray parts. Don't know if they're still around or not. Do you know ? Steve
  17. Medina has a Hobby Lobby too but I stopped shopping there when Family Hobby opened. Looks like I'll be going back sooner or later ....
  18. Parma Hobby is closing, the owners are retiring and they're having their going out of business sale now. Family Hobby in Medina did the same thing just this past May. One bright note, I think all the Discount Drugmart's in Northeastern Ohio still carry Revell Model kits and a small amount of supplies. Anyone know of any other Drug Store chains that are still selling model kits ? -Steve
  19. Both my Dad and my Brother worked in the Plastics Industry, my brother worked in their lab for years and they tested for all kinds of performance issues. Color Bleed is a well known Performance issue in the industry. I also heard it called Color Migration. Organic solvents like lacquer can definitely pull some colorants out of some plastics. I been avoiding the kits that are molded in bright colors just because the Lacquer thinners I use are definitely on the hot side. I recently bought some Vallejo Acrylic-Polyurethane white surface primer that looks promising but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. If get good results I'll definitely post it. -Steve
  20. Basically they used the same chassis. Challenger's and Cuda's are both E-bodies and other then a small wheelbase difference would be almost identical chassis wise. in 1/25th scale they should interchange without much trouble.
  21. That's not true Bill, there's plenty of documentation about the Factory built and supported 65 Plymouth and Dodge Hemi Hardtop cars which all started out in the 2 percent configuration with the Hemi Cross-ram. The Melrose Missile was one of them. Later they were all modified into the more famous fully altered AFX cars. The A990 Hemi Sedans came later and plenty were modified using Chryslers over the counter light weight parts kits and some got a similar altered wheel base conversion just like the Hardtops. They just didn't the get the full factory support like the Hardtops did. -Steve
  22. The photos of Sean's box art model are correct, the engine should be painted Race Hemi Orange which is the lighter of the two Oranges that were used on Hemi engines back then. Blue, actually Turquoise is what was used on the stock 383 in '65 ... apparently there are couple of minor mistakes on the instructions. -Steve
  23. I talked to Sean Svendsen who did the box art model for Model King. He used Tamiya TS 19 Metallic Blue over White on his build up. You don't have to worry about painting it two tone. Everything painted Metallic Blue on the built model is included on the decal sheet in "Metallic Blue" which may be a first for a domestic model co. decal sheet. Even the Hood scoop is covered. I used some of that decal sheet on my AFX build up, the decal sheet is a work of art IMHO ... -Steve
  24. Here's some more photos of my build up that I recently took. Just remember although the tooling is around 95 % complete, this is still considered a prototype and it may or may not represent the final choice of kit parts and or packaging. Once Dave make the final decisions, I'll do my best to keep everyone up to date on it when that time comes. -Steve More photos here ..... AFX Plymouth build up
  25. Assuming the stock spindles are on a tree with the other necessary suspension parts they should still be there. I doubt they would go to the expense of blocking them off. -Steve
