Real or Model #88 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
While those models maybe big, I'm not sure if they are 1/1 scale. -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FUJIMILOVER
FujimiLover replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's okay to be a day late. My Dad is out of town anyway so he'll celebrate it with me when he get's back home from FL. It's sometimes fun to extend holiday's and b-day's. I'm not sure, but I think I might be getting either a new hard drive, or a new computer from Dad for my b-day. I'm really wanting a big-azz hard drive, like 2 TB's so I can stuff it with my DVD's and movies purchased from Itunes. I also want something that will play the digital movies without any glitches or whatever. My current computer's video is okay, but the video glitches and sometimes the sound lag's behind. Yet, when I play the same thing on the Ipod, it's perfect! My computer is about 4-5 years old and half of what made it hot when new no longer works. Example, it had a Giga Pocket divice which is much like your Tivo in that you can plug in your cable and watch/record television. That feature is part of the computers internal sound card which has failed. For the past few years I've been looking for updated drivers for it but apearently it's no longer being supported so for my audio I'm useing a really great external sound card. So with any luck, either a new computer or a 2 TB external hard drive! -
Paint Strippers - What to Use?
FujimiLover replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't think denatured alch is strong enough, and I don't think a pharmasist would know unless he's built models before. I often wonder if Coca Cola would work. Might get sticky after a while, but I wonder if the acid could strip the paint? It's been said before that coca cola can eat a penny over a period of time. Of coarse, when I tried it the penny was still there! Still, I wonder if Soda can peal off paint? -
Tamiya's AMG Mercedes 500
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice model! Interesting how your interior is almost the same color as my KS 500! I like your green by the way, what green did you use? It look's close to Model Master's British Metallic Green. The wheels I have in my stock that I'd like to use on this 500. Inside of wheel where poly-cap's go to mount on chassis. Is this a relatively easy model to build? I remembered having the kit along time ago, but I couldn't remember how easy it was to put together. I think some of the chassis was difficult if I remember right. -
Tamiya's AMG Mercedes 500
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank's guy's. I was afraid the AMG would be peg-on-wheel type. I've yet to build a model where I've mixed types of wheels before. I had thought the AMG version had at least some sort of mild body kit. Certainly, was not looking for another KS style, but a more milder look yet without being stock. I had often thought about modifying the KS 500 SL body to fit the AMG chassis so I would have a full engine to work with and figure out how to scratch-build the Koenig either it's a supercharger, or turbo charger unit in the engine bay. However, then there is the question on wheel offsets and the KS 500 SL wheels fitting along with the AMG chassis. It would certainly be an interesting project to mix the two together. -
Tamiya's AMG Mercedes 500
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have yet to "reverse" install wheels. Does the AMG have a body kit on it? I've looked at one while googling it, and the body apeared stock. I'm looking for a mild kit, not aggressive and wide like the KS model. I had thought AMG's was a mild body kit. Also, didn't it have a detailed engine as well? -
Hello there. I have been wanting to do Tamiya's AMG Mercedes 500 model for quite some time now after finishing Koenig's 500 version. When I got the extra 500 for the instrument panel, I had picked up a set of wheels from Aoshima, their called the Intowner (Tire:Pirelli P-Zero) set and look like the really fancy Brabus 3-spoke wheels, very similar in design to Mercedes emblem. I think these wheels would look sweet on the AMG Mercedes. Question is, how are those wheels mounted? Does Tamiya use the peg-on-wheels, or poly-cap's in wheels method like Fujimi? I need to ask because the wheels I want to use are like most traditional Fujimi poly-cap's in wheels type mounting. So, I'm very curious as to how Tamiya did it on the AMG. I think Mr. Mike has one? Could you post pictures of Tamiay's AMG wheels? Thank you!

As a big fan of the movie Cannonnball Run, I've ALWAYS wanted to build a model of the black Countach. It looked mean and awesome with the front wing and extra driving lights. Plus, having a hot driver/co-driver helped alot too! Second movie was just as funny, but not as great on the car choices. Sucked that their white to red Lamborghini broke down before they started the race. I was always hoping for an updated movie useing a Diablo, Lotus Elise, and a few other choice cars. But sadley, Burt Reynolds might be too old for his character, and we just recently lost Dom Delouise, Captain Caous himselfe! R.I.P. Captain Caous!

I guess you could say I'm a Koenigolic! Would love to have all available 1/16 1/18 and 1/43 scale models of these wonderful cars! In 1/43 we now have the Koenig Ferrari 360 which in fact the Modena is my all time favorite Ferrari! Beautiful, sexy lines! And best part is, they didn't go overboard with the KS 360, just nice mild mods! This would be a nice one to do by modifying a nice Fujimi 360 Modena kit.

Happy Birthday Treehugger Dave
FujimiLover replied to Fletch's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't consider myselfe a year older, I consider myselfe a year younger! I always ask ladies not how "old" are they, I ask how "young" are they? They like that much better than the old bit! LOL! I'm not 35, I'm just 15 years old twice plus 5! LOL! -
Hello there. Since we have alot of birthday's today, I think I counted five, I thought we should have one thread to wish all who has a May 6 birthday! So happy birthday to everyone who was boren on this fine day! Model's are turning out great, fixed all my computer issues, "so far!", weather is gorgeous! Who could ask for more? Oh yea! After getting back from having a birthday lunch with aunt/uncle, I painted her, Diablo, not my aunt, Italian Red. I think because of the primer underneath, the red look's a bit flat. Not the shiny gloss red I had previously with the Testarossa. However, I think in the end it will look much better than the molded red plastic which was almost transparent!

No toy's, Dad's out of town so my aunt and uncle just took me out to lunch! Only thing on my wish list costs' 400 buck's shipped from Japan on ebay. I need to get my CC back in shape before buying one. I didn't realize we had so many birthday's on May 6! -
I have this one. which I beleive is same body, but yours look's like it might be less complicated to build? Can you post pic's of the kit under a new thread please? I've seen that box before, but have not found that kit. I'm wondering if that is a simpler version than the one I have.

How to avoid the Swine Flu
FujimiLover replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Now that's funny! I dont' even let my Dad's dog lick me and he eat's poo! Yuck! Another good way is to stay home in the Black Forest and build Koenig Specials models! Coarse, one does need to go out and get groceries and modeling supplies! -
It certainly does look plated doesn't it? Well, I just primered the body this morning. It may need another coat of primer later. Will have to wait for it to dry and flip the parts over. There are still a few more body panels to prime such as the doors and engine lid. I think this model is going to take a "LOT" longer to build than the 928 was simply cause of the paint work involved. The way it is assembled, makes it difficult. Yet, with all the screws, should be easy as well but I think the paint has to be finished and dried long before. We'll see how it goes.

Problems with Itunes
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
HI guy's. All of my music that I've ripped from a 6 foot tower's worth of CD's is already backed up on a portable 60GB hard drive as well as a few photo's. What I might lose is my movies that I've ripped from DVD's. I have about 80 GB's worth of stuff that wont' fit the 60 GB port/drive. My OS is Windows XP and I'm useing a very good anti-virus software from called Fix-it and it works very well. My computer is fully clean from the most up to date "diseases". I've already tried to run check-disk but it went to quickly and didn't post any messages. So it may still be a bad spot on the hard drive. Will try again later. I hope that my Dad has a secondary 60GB port/drive that I could copy stuff onto. I'd hate to have to rebuild everything. Fortunetly, all my music CD's are backed up, and Itunes saves your purchased items I beleive? Within Itunes it has a check for purchases which you can download again? Right? I've got multiple songs/movies purchased from Itunes which I dont' want to loose either. -
Thank you guy's! Yes, it was a quick build as there were very little parts to it. No steering, no suspension, very simple. Like I said, only time required was waiting for paint to dry! Mr. Mike, I had thought about making the passanger side mirror out of plastic as you said, but I didn't feel it needed the passanger side that badly. And it's actually more triangular than square. For the price I paid for this kit, I'm very happy it turned out so well and oh so perfect!

Thank's Foxer! Yes the sunroof is molded in, in fact! The window is a solid one peice unit inculuding full roof. So if I wanted to, I could've cut out the sunroof and have the glass panel there. But the glass panel would've been sunken in and not flush with the roof. One of Fujimi's other great kit's is their 89 Honda CRX which has a sliding sun-roof! Yes, this is one of my cleanest build's and I'm very proud of it. My only disapointment was losing the passanger side mirror, but at least it was only the passanger's side and NOT the drivers! The color/paint turned out perfect on this one and it really suits the car I think. I love it!

Problems with Itunes
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi there. I've updated my anti-virus/spyware blah, blah, blah protection and everything check's out okay. I've defragmented it, ran disk-check, and seemes to be okay, but it still crashes whenever I attempt to do ANYTHING related to Itunes. I've downloaded the latest Itunes software, I've opened up my computers control panel, install/unistall programs folder, tried to have it repair/uninstall Itunes and nothing. The computer itselfe appears to be healthy, no known virus's, of anykind. My Dad and I think it might have a bad spot on the harddrive where Itunes was installed/is located. First few attempts at defragmenting, it crashed. Last attempt it got stuck at 99% completion. I think my hard drive has a bad spot on it and it's effecting Itunes. It maybe that the hard drive is failing, I dont' know. Could be a simple scratch? Whatever the reason is, my Itunes is royally screwed up which really really sucks. Without Itunes, i can't update, download, upgrade, fix, repair, either Ipod or Iphone! So far, I'm lucky that my two devices are still working properly and have been recently updated two weeks ago before problems accured. I just hope they continue to work properly till my Itunes works properly! I don't dare plug in my Ipod and Iphone into my computer till everything is working! What can you do when your computer wont' allow you to repair/uninstall your software? -
Would you like to see a picture of all three KS car's together?

Real or Model #88 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
While the wheels look ugly, the tires have that right shine to be real. I'm going to go with real this time probably displayed at some auto-show with that floor. -
stickers decals This model will be painted to exactly match the box art. I will use white primer, Tamiya's Italian Red, and clear coat for body, and flat black and red for interior.
