Hey quick question. When you build your cars, do you care if the wheels spin and the steering works? On my Koenig Competition, the front's almost always seem to brake off and I have to CA-glue theme back into place. I'm talking about where the hub's peg goes into the steering knuckles. The point on the model where the instruction's sais NOT to glue to allow the steering to work. My Koenig seems to brake that tiny little peg off and I have to permanently glue it on. On my last red Koenig, the cleaning lady yesterday as carefull as she is, accidently broke the front left wheel's peg and I had to CA glue it back in place. Which is a bumber cause now I can't turn the steering. So, do you guy's care about wheels spinning and steering turning?

WOW! That first picture almost could belong in ROM thread! Coarse, it wouldn't work since we already know it's a model! LOL! Point is, nicely done!

removing bondo body filler?
FujimiLover replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I didn't think you could remove bondo once it's hardened! -
Well, tell her that's what you said last time too!

Thank you for your kind comments! But if you saw it up close and personal, you'll see why I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I admit it is my favorite one I've done so far, and as I've said before, I'm sure the Spider version will be even better! I think it was worth getting the extra kit for the new body! Plus, I saved the seats and steering wheel for the KS 500 SL project!
-
FYI, I saved the seats and steering wheel from the spare Testarossa kit and will be useing those parts on this 500 SL as it's seats and steering wheel are ugly. It'll give it that extra "tuner" look!

If I can find a nicely done Ferrari 355 I might do that one. Although my modifying skills are highly questionable. I still have yet to finish my Veilside MR2. However, I did finally get my hands on the Superfine White Milliput and will work with that. If the VeilMR2 is successful, I will attempt such a mod. But need the right Ferrari kit to do so. Pic of KS 355. It's either 355 or 348 not sure which. I'd also like to find a nice model kit of the BMW 850 as it's my favorite BMW of all and Koenig has done a really awesome job at it. Pic of KS BMW 850. The 850 has been widened some, but not drastically, has a nice airdam, and a small F-40 style rear wing. It is very tastfully done, but done enough to really make the 850 a hot-looking car! Would love to do a 1/24 model of this, but probably in a dark gun-metal color. Does that answer your question?

Not really sure if you can tell by the photo or not, but the first coat of pure-white is on. And so far, so good! Will wait for this to dry, flip it over, and paint the underside! Far cry from being black aint' it? Will work on chassis/interior soon.

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
FujimiLover replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I didn't pick it up, but while at local hobby store I came across some stuff in a reasonably sized metal can that said it will strip paint/decals off plastic safely. Specifically designed for plastic and work's slowly. I'll try and get the name next time I'm down there. Cost about 10-20 bucks. -
Nice drawings! Suggestion from an artist's point of view? Next time you do a car-drawing like the one on the bottom, sign your signature on the tire as if it was a tire-companies logo. You'd still have your signature, but it'll be part of the art itselfe!

I think Ray Charles designed this one! LOL! Kidding aside, that is ugly. I thought one purpose of designing cars was to make'm attractive and make people WANT to buy one?
-
I think you should build a second one and replicate this chassis exactly and display the chassis alone next to the completed car, that would be cool! Maybe scratch-build one of those display systems they have at autoshows show-caseing the chassis alone?
-
Thank you, actually, this was a slow build for me. Beleive it or not, but I really took my time on this one trying to get it perfect. Of the ten-or-so of these kit's I've built in my life time so far, this one IS THE BEST yet! I'm hoping when I do the Competition Spider, it'll be even better!
-
Yes it is a removable hard top and is already primed. I also primed the bottom of the car as well. So later this evening I'll flip her over again and paint the top pure white.
-
F-40? Where did you get that from? This is a Testarossa! A highly modified Testarossa from the king of tuners! Not an F40! Yes, the F40 is nice too, but I like this more!

Thank's! I've always been a fan of Koenig since the 80's. In fact, I even tried to visit their home in Munich Germany in the 90's when I was in high-school. I was attending a co-ed boarding school in Florida and every spring brake about 20 of us students would visit Europe. One year, we went to Munich Germany upon my request and that's when I tried to visit Koenig, but they didn't accept visitors for some reason. So, I never got to see'em. So yes, I love Koenig!
-
Masked and primed! Wait for this to dry, then do the bottom! I'm not sure what color to do the roof. I dont' know if I want to leave it black, paint it brown to match the interior, or paint it white to match the body.
-
That's the kind of detail work I'd like to accomplish!
-
From this experience, I have a suggestion for you if you haven't done the decal's yet on the body. For the yellow KS emblem on the nose, I suggest painting that tiny little square yellow first as the decal is yellow and some what transparent. When I put my decal on against the red, it turned some what orange and made it harder to see. I'm very anxious to see how your body turns out and I bet yours will be better than mine seeing how well your engine and interior have turned out! Again, feel free to post your completed model here since it's the same one!
-
Thank you for your suggestions, however this one is finished and is "under glass". Will be starting Koenig's 500 SL model next and it's a much simpler model. The hardest part of this Competition, build was, was the engine detail. The 500 does not have such an engine and has much fewer peices. Keep an eye out for new thread!

Hello there. I decided to take a step back and do something less complicated. Fujimi's Koenig Specials Mercedes 500 SL BlackStar. However, mine is going to be pure white, with a brown interior. The model comes molded in black, so I'll be masking off areas I want black, I'll use white primer, then Tamiya TS-26 Pure white, and so on. Interior will be painted with Model Master's 2910 Sand Beige with black trim. First step is body prep.
-
Thank you, I'm tempted to do the Spider version next! Same colors, different methods! The two should look great together!
-
I have to tell yea, this is NOT an easy kit to build. Not complicated, but not easy. Have I captured my Unicorn? No. Still some thing's about it I'm not happy with, but over all, I'm satisfied. Comment nicely please..............

Well, after several painfull weeks, a poor blue-job, a secondary kit, some headaches, et'c, et'c, she is finally finished and when all put together, it ain't bad! Kind of funny how the little imperfections go away when it's all put together as a whole!
