Stroker Ace Chicken Pit Special Ford Thunderbird. Was that car number 7 ?? IF so, I just found a set of Fred Caddy decals to do that car with. It has to be #7. I just don't recall a real NASCAR race car with Chicken Pit on the side of it.

This one would have been a better version for a movie using most of the original cast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCIflgviF7A

If you want real looking dist caps with wiring use this guy instead of making your own or using the all metal ones that don't simulate the stock caps or contours of the dist shaft. He even makes an HEI cap dist. http://www.lpstech.com/distributors.htm When doing Mopar big block engines, get the dist in the correct place at the right angle. Seen way too many in the wrong place or to straight up or even on the wrong side. And dual plug Hemi engines don't use two dist. They use one dist with a drive base added to the shaft with a second cap added to the drive unit. Seen that done up wrong on a lot of them. If you want realistic colors, you can by engine paint at any parts store or order it from www.summitracing.com You can get the correct colors from the manf. or after marker paint as well.

In his defense, that is the truck that comes in the 240 Robert Kit. I'm making one from scratch sorta from a different Bronco, but I'll have to see if I can cut the sunroof in it to get it exactly correct.

Love the coffee and doughnuts on the dash.

The original car was built by Dodge and PPG industries to be used as a Pace Care for the Indy 500. 6 prop cars were built, 4 of which were dummies and were destroyed during filming. The other two built were used as stunt cars. The original Indy pace car is in a museum along with a couple other test cars that were built to test areo. I'll see if I have a pic of those and post them up too. If I recall correctly the Indy car could do close to 200 mph I've got a poster somewhere that all of the Indy Pace Cars on it since the very first Pace Car. And the MS+4 is on that poster of course.

How many copies you want? And here's a teaser of the lead car and engine that no one makes. Someone really needs to cast it up. I'd buy a couple that's for sure. Those should really make you want to see the movie now .... lol.

Might as well do the white one they stole at the first of the movie too. I would not mind doing all the cars from that movie too. You can find all of them except the Dodge MS+4 concept or pace car. That's too bad too. That one deserves to be done. Especially with that dual overhead cam Cosworth head and twin turbos on that 2.2 block. It would be really hard to get that color shifting charcoal paint that PPG made for that car too.

Where Did J&S Resin Go To?
dwc43 replied to dwc43's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's good to know. Hate to see anyone go under that's for sure. Glads that's not the case here. There was several resin bodies I wanted to purchase. I will send you a pm. -
So if I read between the lines, that means you got ticked at it and slammed it up side the wall, right ?? LOL!!
-
Where did J&S Resin go to? I wanted to place a pretty big order and now the site is closed.

Cool. Just point me to a pic when you get it all finished up. I'd like to check it out.

Like the wide tires. Gives it more of a race look to it.

That's kind of how I felt too. While you could still see through the glass, it would be a lot easier to see the detail without the front door glass in it. And I plan on doing it as correctly as possible, so there's a lot to see.
-
Opinion wanted. The glass in my Crown Vic is one solid piece. You think I should cut out the front door glass so you can see the radio equip. better or just leave it be?
-
Thanks for the pics. If you have time and can put a little angle cut on the exit of the tube it may look better. Just a thought.

Good to know. I might pick up one of those and use it to build a car then. I also wonder if the throttle springs from model car garage would work with those bolts or if they are too big. I have some around here somewhere. I might have to experiment with them and see what they look like.

I looked over the last page of that build off. If you can, when you get through with it, I'd like to see a pic of those pop off valves you made out of bolts and wire for the blower. I may try to make some for some other projects down the road. Is that chassis from that Cuda and I think Challenger digger kit? I've been thinking about picking up a couple of them to do some open body type rail cars of the past. Looks good so far. I think you can get it finished too.

How do I get the old format back

I have to sweat it. Dang colors are killing my eyes and giving me a headache. -

Same here. Refresh doesn't help one bit. -
Glad to hear it's working out for ya. Post up a pic when your done. I'd like to see the finished product. I have that same parts pack full of engines too.

Welcome, anytime. Aluminum tubing might work. You really only have one bend at the head area for all 8 cyl. Getting the angle cut at the exit to match on all 8 might be a problem though. Here's a pic of some Boom Tubes for inspiration. These are actually sprint car headers for a chevy engine. If you want to look at ex. headers and race mufflers and such check out www.speedwaymotors.com and www.stockcarproducts.com and www.drgas.com I've run stuff on several of my race cars from all three of these companies. Good reference pics but only for carb and some injection for sprints from Speedway. Yeah, refilling the drive way potholes was a pain, but I always got a laugh out of it too. Just think what it did to the dirt in the pits. That's why most places wont let you run them facing the ground. Most will let you run the boom tube type though.

That might be all you need. After all my car was a real one running those 18" pipes and that is what that engine package liked. It was a 365 flat top 11:1 with hyd. cam cast intake 2" 4 hole spacer with an 850 Carter Thermoquad on it and 1 5/8 tube 18" long custom made zoomies. BAcked by a 3 speed and an 8 3/4 rear axle with a final drive ratio of 6.49:1 in a 3250 lb car. I know it's a model, but it's supercharged, so check the tube size and length on them. You can always put more angle to it to run a longer tube and change the angle cut on the exit of each tube. By the way, if you have never seen a 1:1 car with zoomies facing the ground it's something else. We had a gravel drive in front of the shop and I'm bad about pulling it outside and working in the sun on a good day. Fire it up in the gravel and it would leave a hole about the size of my laptop and about 4 in. deep in the drive. They kick up a lot of dust at the race track too. Might keep that in mind if you are one that likes to do weathering on your cars. Some dirt or light dust around the ex. area would look real.

It's not just aesthetics as you put it. It hurts and strains my eyes and I'm not the only one that said it. I spend a lot of time on a pc and colors have a lot to do with eye strain. Flashing colors can even cause ecliptic seizures in people in case you did not know that.
