You could have ordered it with a 383. That white one looks like it has a chrome strip on the bottom of the B pillar. I'm betting it was a vinyl top car and they painted it red. The white car looks good with the Road wheels, but the Hemi car is hard to be with the Ralley wheels and stock polys. I'd do the Hemi car. With dual carbs it has a lot more you can detail on the engine.

wondering about two MPC kits!!
dwc43 replied to Blake Rogers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Until about the mid to late 70's it was one company, but there was three separate division of Chrysler. Chrysler,Dodge and Plymouth was treated as if it was 3 separate companies within it's walls. -
PAW out of Cali has separate catalog just for the old Hemi's. You can even buy a complete engine to assemble and one version is even supercharged. https://secure.pawengineparts.com/392_HEMI.html https://secure.pawengineparts.com/392_HEMI_Supercharger.html

Slightly Modified .... LOL!! It's a Hemi in a 3200 lb car, aint that enough .... lol. Yeah, I'd like that one. I got to judge one of those factory race car versions one year at a show. It was the black one that was in most of all of the car mags. I'll look through my collection and send you a good list to get you started. Amazon.com would be a good place to start looking. You can get used ones for cheap and some still new in the wrapper for good prices too. Post us a pic. You sellin them or find someone else that's selling them?

I did not think they ever made a kit of that car. Looks good for a scratch built. I don't think I'm ready to try and tackle that one yet.
-
Sweet deal. I used to have a 392 and wished I had not gotten rid of it.
-
Looks great. Where did you find that kit at?? I actually have a real 1:1 that I am going to start working on sometime this summer.
-
Yeah, it might have been sunglasses. Been a while since I watched it. If you got the dvd version of the BB, it has the deleted scenes added back into the movie. Most followers don't like that version either. You are way behind on your car movie collection my friend. I've got a pretty good collection started. I can pm you a list for some to look for if you like. And I'll promise you, you'll like them all. I don't have the Highwaymen, but I do have both versions of Vanishing Point.

It's a 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, a 1/2 a pack of cigarettes, and we are wearing dark glasses. Hit it!

Now that would be nice to see.

The Blues Mobile is a 74 Dodge Monaco ex Mount Prospect Ill. police car. It's got a cop motor,a 440 cu. in. plant with cop tires, cop shocks, cop suspension. It's a model before catalytic converters so it runs good on regular gas. LOL!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluesmobile Landis also claimed that the chase scene beneath the elevated train tracks, which briefly showed the car's speedometer with a reading of 120 miles per hour (190 km/h) was actually filmed at that speed, a testament to the Monaco's police car heritage. Landis says he re-shot some of the scenes with pedestrians on the sidewalks, so viewers could see that the film had not been sped up to create the effect of speed.

There were some 75 and 76 Monaco's but no Satellites.

I'll check the lhs, but like I said, they selection is not as big as you think. I need to see if they have any lhs in Nashville. They may have a bigger selection. I also noticed Hobby Towns inventory of model kits is really low now. I'm sure they must be hurting due to the economy. Mikes place is in a high rent mall strip type mall. Picture this, a row of stores a parking lot and then another row of stores on the other side of the lot. That arrangement might be common elsewhere, but this is the first one I have seen like this. And they are all high end stores. I did check that link and I finally found that clear blue that Mooneyzs mentioned to. I'll have to try it. Thanks again to all.

I'm sorry that was my fault. I thought that was in your sig line and did not even click on it. How embarrassing.
-
I have some pens, but I don't think they are sharpies. I'll have to test them out. I'll was hoping for an online link. I should have asked for that, huh? My LHS does not have any many selections as you would hope for. Hobby Town is pretty helpful though. Sometimes I need help with certain colors. I am partially color blind and it might not look right to me. The amount of lighting makes a difference in how I see things too. Like a dark maroon and a really dark brown it's hard for me to tell the diff in dim light. Dark blues and greens sometimes look black in dim light and at a distance. That's bad when you are trying to make models and replicate all the proper colors of things. Thanks for the ideas.

Heartbreak Damaged
dwc43 replied to Railfreak78's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't have any pics to show of what happened to mine. We had a house fire several years ago so mine turned into plastic blobs. Had too much time invested in racing and restoring real cars and going to car shows at the time. I started back into the hobby late '07 when I went with my brother to a Hobby Town and Hobby Lobby. I still don't have a big stash like some of you guys have. I build just about everything I get my hands on, or at least start them and set them aside to go looking for parts I need to finish what I in vision. lol. -
Where can I find a transparent blue and transparent red to paint some metal AN fittings to make them look like the real thing? I'm doing an old school rail and I need to paint these so I can get my oil and fuel lines ran so I can mount the engine in the chassis.
-
Ahhh, I see where you were going now.

Actually that statement is not correct either. All street headers use 1 5/8 primaries. Race headers start in the 1 5/8 stepped to 1 3/4 or start at 1 3/4 without using a step. The step gives a broader torque curve over using just a bigger primary. Here's a set of 1 5/8 Hooker headers for a 'vette. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2456-1HKR/

Cool, glad it works then. I have not tried it, it was just a thought off the top of my head when I started reading this stuff.

How about using some of that aluminum tape they put on a/c and heating duct work. It's really sticky, so you'll just need to trim it to fit, pull the paper backing off and pop it in place.

Thanks. As soon as I get some more pieces and info I'll get some more progress pics posted. I have a bored and stroked big block Duster with a tunnel ram and nitro that I have never used so far. IT uses a Mallory mag on it with a regular cap and external coil. It's way different from these older self contained mags. As for street cars, cornering and fuel millage for me. My circle track cars are limited by the rules, but I have a tendency to hang an MSD7AL2 upside down under the dash by the steering column and use a High Vibe MSD coil. They are in cased in epoxy so you can mount them in any location. I have raced some SCCA road courses in the past. Since it looks like they are going to succeed this time in getting rid of our local asphalt circle track this year, I may go back to SCCA. I really have no desire to go back to dirt which is where I started after I quit drag racing. Here's a pic of my last drag car.
-
Here's a pic of that mag that I was asking the questions about. I have a mag for my 440, but it uses a modern day cap and external coil, so I have no real exp. with this type.

Thanks. I have a question for all. I was looking through all the pics I saved looking at the fuel systems. I ran across a pic of a magneto just like the one I am using. It has four wires in line on the bottom and a top row of four wires. Looks like this .... .... The bottom four wires went to the left bank and the top four wire went to the right bank. Is this correct for all of these magnetos? If so I'll have to look closer and see if I can figure out how the firing order is set up on that engine and duplicate it.

All I can say is, WOW !!
