1975 Laguna Stock Car
dwc43 replied to bobss396's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Should be a factory 4 link under there. -
Do you mean the ones like the Jeeps and semi-trucks use? If so, I know where you can buy those. www.sourkrautsmodeltrucks.net

1975 Laguna Stock Car
dwc43 replied to bobss396's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
By 75 those NASCAR type cars were running 358 small blocks. Really the big block was pretty much gone by 72. And most were running slotted wheels by 75 too. And that rear is supposed to sit high until you get the car up to speed and the aero would make it squat back down to normal. Can't believe they left the kicker bars out of the kit. That front cage around the engine is not correct either, but they put that in all the kits. -
I'm with you on the paint and body work. Not my favorite part of any build. And there's nothing wrong with primer.

Looking good. I see it has the Daytona window in it too. Don't see that too often. As for mine, I hope to do some work on it late summer. I have 6 acres, and the shop building is close to completion, and I want to start working on a home there as well. I've been collecting parts for the car and hope I can work on it this summer after some other things fall into place. I can't wait to try it out.

Salvinos JR Next Gen Camaro
dwc43 replied to Brutalform's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Don't get me wrong, it looks good. Can't wait to see the body painted with decals. Paint is always the hardest part for me, but so are big decal sheets that come on some of these race cars. It's easier but time consuming to do a bunch of small decals, but less risk of damaging them that way. -

IT looks good so far. I probably would not change it, but for your next build, NASCAR does not allow the use of those twist type release belts. They use a latch link belt. -
She's got a long way to go, but it should be more than worth the wait. That roofline is about waist high on me. I'm 5'10". It's not a very tall car at all.

Modern version of a board track race car 20-30s
dwc43 replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The 1926 Ford Model T that Clarence Lamb owned and that I worked on had the fuel tank in the turtle deck from the factory. It was the first year for electric start and head lights. 6V battery too. I could hand crank it faster than that battery could turn it over. -
Too bad about the non engine. Someone makes a resin engine kit online that is really detailed. I'm sorry, I do not recall who made it. I have one somewhere, but it's buried in the stash. Look at what is sitting inside of my 24ft Lark trailer.

Modelhaus '64 Dodge D100 'Custom Sports Special' body; extinct?
dwc43 replied to Wickersham Humble's topic in Wanted!
I can't help you with the truck, but 3 inches under has a web site and he has a Ebay page too. He would have the sirens, lights, hose reels, nozzles, shovels, axes, rakes, pike poles, ladders, turnout gear, SCBA's, pumps and motors, medical equipment and just about anything fire, medic, or police stuff that you might want. No water pump. The camshaft runs the fuel pump mounted on the front cover, so there is no place to put a water pump. When hp gets high enough or you get into supercharged engines on nitromethane they run a solid or filled block to make it stiffer, so it won't deflect under power. Only water is in the heads. Also take into account that the amount of alcohol or nitromethane that flows through the intake and heads also helps to reduce the heat in the engine. This car only has 8 injectors, but look at supercharged engines on nitro, they have at least 16 injectors if not more.
-
Just FYI a lot of chevy and other engines too will bring water lines from the rear of the intake as well. Let's it balance out the temp. of the engine so it does not have hot spots or get air locked at the rear of the heads. Not sure if this would apply for your drag car that only run for a few minutes at a time. Something to think about I guess. It looks great by the way.

Well, those tires are NASCAR slicks and so is the wheel. The seat looks like an old bomber type seat that was used in some race cars from after WWII till about the 60's when better and safer seats became available. It's possible it was some old stock car, but you don't have enough parts to really figure that out. Sorry, I can't help anymore than that. Maybe if you can find more parts or a body or maybe you have a pic of it somewhere we would help more.

I found those two. I'm sure he's got more. Just did not have any more time to search. Hope that helps. LOW RIDE HEIGHT LIFT AXLE SUSPENSION, TQ199 — Sour Krauts Model Trucks TRUCK LIFT AXLE SUSPENSION SET, TQ198 — Sour Krauts Model Trucks

www.sourkrautsmodeltrucks.net has a lift axle, not sure if it's steerable or not. I think he has a couple different designs too.
-
Yes, they will be close to what you want. I need a bench seat out of one of those.
-
That one does not have the wheels you are looking for. I have that kit. The old Broncos like that don't have them. You need to look for the 70's and 80's Broncos.
-
Well, shoot, I that I had a good idea there. I don't suppose copper tubing would be any better. Maybe you could 3D print some elbows as a last resort.
-
Broncos had some of those wheels in their kits too.

If no one has any to trade, check out www.sourkrautsmodeltrucks.net

I was looking for parts and came up with another idea. Sour Krauts has elbows for both intakes and exhaust pipes for semi-trucks. In both plastic and rubber. The ones in the pic are rubber. Maybe you can put that to some kind of use to make your stacks if my other idea does not work for ya. Oh, I have bought from him before. If it says out of stock or don't find what you want, email the guy anyways. He may have it or can get it for you quick. www.sourkrautsmodeltrucks.net Just hit the model truck tab at the top to start looking for parts.
