  1. When I turned 50 and had my stroke. I then realized thing would never really be the same even though I recovered to be almost normal. Still try to do things I used to but it isn't working the same. It now takes up to 4 hours to wash a car the way I used to do it in 1 1/2 hours. Model building is harder but still forge on trying to do the best I can. Can't skate/play hockey/ball etc but wasn't good at it when I could. You adapt and carry on...Not bitching, feel lucky to be able to do what I do. I can still wheel a car which means lots to me....
  2. I go to our first game Saturday afternoon..JETS vs Senators. There will be some teams being boycotted because of the millionaires vs billionaires but not in Winnipeg. There were over 5000 at todays practice...Was wild...Good to be back Split my seasons with three two others and they both got to work Saturday, so I get to go with the wife...GO JETS GO!!!!!....
  3. A few weeks ago a member here wanted some slant six engines. Didn't say where he was from but ended up living in the same city as I. Conversed by email and he phoned tonight. Coming over tomorrow night to BS models and get a slant six from me. Small world. I know he is a real modeler because he says he frequents this forum, This is where the talent is and it shows by the builds the guys/gals do.
  4. After reading this post you've got me wanting to get one of these kits. Never though much of it, being so much like the 68 RoadRunner/69GTX kits. They were a little off in soooo many ways but built up fairly well. Got to get me a Super Bee...
  5. That JoHan Chrysler didn't look too bad. Looked like it might have needed new chrome and some tender loving care. Now go and make this masterpiece. You will definately do it justice. Looking forward to the Under Glass column when its done...
  6. I'll have to get one of my friends with a hosting site(Fotki/photobucket) to post the underglass stuff when I'am done. Sure felt good to do a little work. Yellow is terrible to work with and will have to grey prime everything to even see the part #s..So far everything is going good on it though. Worked about 2 1/2 hours on it tonight while working the puter too. Even thinking of finishing my 40Ford coupe I painted about 8 yrs ago and a 64 Dodge 330 sedan...
  7. Haven't built much(almost nothing) since my stroke in 1998. Our club(Winnipeg Model Car Club) has a theme show in December. This year its foreign/import. So a friend gives me a Sunbeam Tiger that I gave to him years ago. Two weeks ago I glued the front and rear pans. Tonight I did a little de-flashing and dechroming/mold lines. This thing is molded in bright yellow see through (almost) plastic that AMT used years ago. I don't usually look at part numbers but with foreign stuff who know where or what things are. Can't even see the numbers so will have to prime everything light grey to see them. Haven't done this in a while but it felt good to be back modelling...Hope the eyes can hold out with this yellow plastic..No pictures due to no hosting site...
  8. Nothing beats the smell of plastic from 30 yrs ago. Years ago I visited a model buddy in Quincey Illinois and he opened a sealed 60 El Camino. We each had a Carona and a smell. Wow, what a blast from the past. I still do that once in a while but I don't have anything that old that is still sealed. The smell stays forever. I also like the smell of old auto brochures. Brings back memories
  9. A comment on the link in the first post. "No wonder Galen charges so much, cause you can't fool him." I was at the Mopar Nats in 94 and 95 and he got fooled on a 66 Coronet 500 Convertible...It came as a 383 car and made into a hemi car..Authenticied twice. Once both years. Its from my city where I live and saw it when it was done. New stampings and everything..Its now know as the "Most infamous 66 Coronet 500 convertible in America." Its a bright yellow one..Beware of what you buy at the Barrett/Jackson..Lots of glitz and glitter and booze.....Mecum Auctions to me are better...
  10. Are you know a lawyer? Did you get called to the "Bar?"
  11. Be lucky you can buy it at a LHS. In Winnipeg Canada you can't buy it anywhere. Only was you can get it to subscribe which right now is not affordable to me on a fixed income. Our country and province tax the daylights out of you...
  12. Groked this kit last night at a bull session. Notice but really had to look but there is a mold line about 1/32 " from the lip on either front fender and down by the headlights. Any encounter problems getting it off? Would seem like a very delicated job to do. Fine kit and one of Revell's best to date..All kits have some flaws but not enough for the builders not to buy them...Keep em coming Revell....
  13. A cold....Runny nose, all my joints ache. Got to take some Ibuprophen and wrap up in sweat pants/sweat shirt and sox and sweat it out for tomorrow. Hot drink with lemon and go to bed....Hope every here has a MERRY CHRISTMAS...
  14. Sure dig cars in primer. Mostly light grey primer or white. Sure brings out the details that you don't see with a color coat on them. I like shiney though so I guess they got to be painted in the end. Some very nice stuff here though...
  15. Sweet lookin' ride. What do you have in mind for colors? Something bright with a white interior? Wide whites...
  16. I can't show pictures of my stash but I have 2 1964 JoHan flat box unopened 64 Plymouth Fury convertibles....2 JoHan flat box 66 Chrysler 300 2 dr hts....1965 JoHan flat box 65 Marlin hardtop and a few other flat boxes un built....MPC Dodge Warlock sealed in a large box.
  17. I one day years ago did a 70 Chevelle. I used Meguiare's reconitioner and followed up with their Gold Class paste wax..I wetsanded with 2000 and had no scratches. When you wet the paper make sure you put a drop of detergent in the water so the sanding doesn't bunch up. I keeps the paper moving smoothly. I polished this for about six hours and six beers. It came out like glass. I also clearcoat with one mist and one or two wetter coats...Good luck...Stay away from the Dremel, do it by hand. Less chances for burnthrough or mistakes...
  18. If you need tail-lights try getting a clear red toothbrush and make your light bezels from there. With the skills I've seen above you won't have a hard time making them..I'am diggin' whats going on. Please keep updated/current results......
  19. I will agree with the placement of the mirror but you can always move it where you want. The front marker lite is too long but we can't nit-pic this stuff too much. They will quit making it then what do we do. Guess its all based on what their souce of information is. If the source isn't restored correctly then the model won't be either. Lets enjoy this when it comes out and not be too critical of little mistakes. At least its not like the other editions, based off the Challenger...Enjoy!
  20. A few of the best Lindberg kits were of the 64Dodges/Plymouths. Sure wish they would come back with a 65 Belvedere post like the 64 Dodge. That would give them some capital. Only if its a good as the others though...
  21. One of the earlier posts (Craig Irwin) said 1929 would be like childs play. You all had your chance and blew it. If I won, I'd probably die of a heart attack knowing I was that rich. Buy a hockey team/go NASCAR racing/WOO racing. Who knows. If I survive the heart problems I know I'd be filthy rich and my kids and grand kids would be set for life...
  22. I was able to score two of my grails off of E Bay a while ago. 1966 Chrysler 300 by JoHan. The two door hardtop model, now a convertible would be nice to go with the hardtops.
  23. Very clean and well done on what at times is a challenging model to build...
  24. Got my first kit at a hardware store on North Main in Winnipeg. In the early 60s my friend Doug Cole and I would take a bus downtown and walk Portage avenue. We'd go to Kresge/Woolworths/Eatons/Bay/St John Hobbies and Gooches(which is still in business). There was another but can't remember the name. We'd see what they had then would go back and buy. When I passed to grade six my parents gave me $20.00 which I remember I bought a 63 Corvette and a 61 Dodge and lots of paints. Just had enuf for bus fare home. Painted the Vet with Pactra N'amel and was done in two days...Those sure were the days. I cut grass for the neighbors and shovelled snow for money. I didn't get an allowance as only my dad worked and we were far from rich....
